22 week Doctor Check up

Current mood: exhausted

Well I went in today for my 22 week baby check up. They measured my tummy and said she is just where she needs to be. I also got to hear my little ones heart beat again which is always a treat. They also said it was strong and normal.

They did schedule me to come in, in 4 weeks to do some tests. They want to take my blood and test some stuff. Since I have been so extreemly tired they want to make sure I am not enemic and are going to check my Iron levels as well as diabetes. So I will keep you all updated on that.

They did mention the baby's kidney situation again and assured me not to worry. My next ultra sound is April 7th so they will be able to see if it is getting better or not. They didn't mention anything about the endocrine levels which leads me to believe they are not concerned about that to much. I called the genetic counselor yesterday regarding a mess up in scheduling and asked her again about the endocrine levels. She mentioned they are fine and my risk for a having a Downs Syndrome baby are still very slime. The thing that they are checking most is her kidneys at this point.

Well that is about it. Some good news however, is though I have been feeling her kicking since week 16 her kicks are becoming even stronger. For the first time I actually got to feel her kick with my hand on my tummy. That was on the 26th and totally made me happy. Soon other people will be able to touch my tummy and feel her. I can't wait to go back to Red Robbin because she seems to go nuts over Strawberry lemonaid!! I want to feel her after I down a glass!!

Well that is all that is new. Please still keep her in your prayers!

Please keep my baby girl in your prayers...

Current mood: melancholy

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this... but I figured the more people who know about it, the more prayers my baby can receive.

I just got a call from the doctor's office yesterday afternoon giving me the status of the ultra sound report. They informed me that she is healthy and growing fine, however, there were two little things that they found that they wanted to bring to our attention. They also scheduled a follow up ultra sound in a couple of months to check the progress.

One of the issues is the fact she has enlarged kidney's. They are not sure what is causing them to swell, and believe it may be a blockage. They reassued me that though this is not normal (obviously) it is common and could clear up before she is born. The second ultra sound should show if it is getting worse, staying the same, or getting better. If they are getting worse, they cannot do anything until she is born and then treat her for it then. So we have to wait a couple of months to see the progress of her kidneys.

The second issue, is that they found her to have higher than normal endocrine levels. It is not dangerously high but they are elevated. They informed us that though this is no an indicator, it is associated with Downs Syndrome. The doctor informed us that there are babys born with higher levels of this hormone and are born perfectly normal. They just wanted to let me know that due to my age 27, and history and healthy that my chances are still slim. Usually a person my age's risk of having a baby with Downs Syndrome is 1-900. Since they found out my little one's elevated levels my chances have gone down to 1-600. They did say she did not show any other signs or have any other indicators of having Downs Syndrome. And again they will be retesting this in a couple of months.

The doctor kept reassuring us not to worry and that she is otherwise very healthy and growing great. There is nothing I did nor can do about this and it all on the baby. With all that being said, I just wanted to inform all that do keep up on my blogs to please have my little one in your prayers.

Thank you from both of us <3

Ultra-Sound appointment = Big News!!!

Current mood: bouncy

Yesterday we had our first official ultra-sound appointment out in Riverside. Though, we did go to the hospital last month due to some back pain and got I got to see my little baby girl, this visit was strictly dedicated to the baby. I was so happy that Daddy (Adrian) got to attend this appointment since he was unable to be in the room the last time an ultra sound was performed. This visit sure made up for that!

They spent about 30 mins on me, scanning my belly and taking measurements of baby Mia. (Yes thats her name incase I forgot to post it: Mia Leilani Cardoso) I was sorta bummed because the whole time, I was unable to see the monitor, however, Adrian got a awesome view. I was happy that he was able to experience the baby and really enjoy her. For me, I enjoy her everyday as I feel her growing and kicking in me. This was Daddy's turn to see his little baby girl.

At first she was a bit shy and decided to moon us so they couldn't see her to well, but she eventually turned over to say hi. When they went to take pictures and measurements of her tiny face she became shy again and put her two hands up to cover it. (This was told by me, by Adrian since I was unable to see) Eventually the Ultra sound tech was able to manipulate the device in a way we could see her face. We have some new picuters of that, but since Adrian's new schedule change I have to wait till he is able to scan them in for me.

Overall the check up went well. This tech couldn't say for 100% that the baby was officially a girl because she again was hiding her "special place" but she believed it could be a girl. The first tech I saw in Jan. was pretty certain that it was a girl, so I think I am safe to have Grandpa paint the baby's room Pink

That is about it, I will post pics when I can. Oh I almost forgot the big news!! Our due date was moved up from July 9th to July 3rd!!!! Who knows we might have a 4th of July baby! The 3rd also happens to be my Brother and Sister in Laws Wedding Annaversary, and the 5th is my Grandma Pizano's birthday so we will see which day she chooses to make her big debute. Well I sure am showing alot more. I am 21 weeks (5 months) and officially half way!! Can't believe how fast time is flying!!! Well I will post more as I find out more news....
