Baby Mia is 2 weeks old!!!

Current mood: exhausted

Yay I have a few spare mins to post a quick blog while Daddy is in charge of the little Munchkin.
The past two weeks have flown by soooo fast!!!! She is already changing so much. Getting puffier cheeks and I even heard/saw her laugh in her sleep. It was too cute.

So far parent-hood has been a tiny bit rough. My little sweetpea constantly demands our attention and unfortunately for all of us, is colicy. Her doc did tell us to give her some drops after every meal which seems to be helping, but its very hard to hear her cry so loud and hard and not be able to make her feel better. That is something I am trying to learn how to handle. She also loves teh arms. Its hard to put her down because no matter how deep of a sleep she is in, she quickly wakes up and screams. She is definately a wiggle worm and needs to change positions like every 5-10mins which does get tiresome. This also makes putting her down difficult since due to SIDS you can only put them on their back. She is a very strong baby and ever since birth has been able to lift ad move her head on her own. This is kinda nice since I know she cant accidently suffocate herself on my arm.. though it is still a fear of mine. Anyways overall she is doing good. Eating well, pooping well and sleeping somewhat.

Sleep is definately something I miss, and for all your soon to be mommys, GET YOUR REST!!!! it is soooo true what people say. Youll need it. Adrian's mom has been great and visiting alot to help out and same with my parents. Infact they are on their way here now for the weekend to allow Adrian and I to catch up on some much needed rest.

Breastfeeding has finally been coming along great. We had some trouble at first and had to suppliment but now she only suppliments 2 a night (Mainly cuz I am sleeping and Daddy is working the night shift with her). I am hoping to get her completely off of formula soon since it does give her more gas and tummy aches. Not to mention her poopies smell worse when shes on formula than breastmilk. If anyone needs tips on breastfeeding I feel I am fast becoming an expert so I can give tons of advice. It definately hasn't been easy. But good news! Due to the breastfeeding, I already lost 22 pounds (mostly in the first week) and already under my pre-pregnancy weight!!! I still have some more to go since I still have a tiny tummy but it seems like everyday its shrinking more and more YAY! the other kinda cool thing about breastfeeding is I am a total EATING MACHINE!!! I eat toooooooons, and am always starving! I can eat what I want and as much as I want and am still losing weight. Its kinda cool.

Well I better get going, its almost lunch time for Princess Mia so I best prepare for that haha. Overall things are going good, can't wait till her colic clears up and we all can get some rest.

We had a slight scare, Mia decided she did not want to feed like she did before. As a new Mama I panicked and called Kaiser. They told me to bring her in just to be safe. Daddy, Grandma Santos and I zoomed off to Kaiser Hospital in Riverside. In the end all checked out well.

My angel is here! and 1 week old today!!

Current mood: drained

Well its been 1 week since I gave birth to my beautiful little baby girl Mia. Mama and baby are doing good, oh and Daddy too. I cant write a whole lot since she doesn't let me out of her sight to long. Since Daddy is holding her right now I have a couple of minutes.

Well as you know I was scheduled to be induced on July 10th at 1030 at night. Everything seemed to go well. I was contracting on my own (tiny ones) and was dialated 1.5. We had a baby stress test earlier that day to make sure Mia wasn't distressed and she passed with flying colors. Anyways off to the hospital we went. Boy was I nervous. Anyways, they decided to start me on a small dose of "cytoec" to get me started before they started the potocin (IV). Things went along alittle slow and after awhile my contractions became harder and harder. The nurses thinking I was dialating pretty good checked me and alas I was still only 1.5 after a couple of hours. This wasn't too good. The contractions kept coming harder but they couldn't give me anything till I was at least 3-4. So I did my best to rest then "POP" my water broke around 230am. So we felt that was good progress and good news!! well not for the nurses who had to keep cleaning me up haha. They checked me again and alas only 2cm. This wasn't good. So they had me walking around the hallways for an hour to see if the baby could drop a bit more. This was a BAD idea because since my water broke I ended up making messes all over the hospital and nurses kept having to come t the resucue! haha. Finally they had me get back into bed and boy did the contractions increase. Unfortunately for me, I was contracting 3 huge contractions back to back (less than 30 seconds apart) before I would get a 4 min. break then BAM 3 more. I was in pain but Adrian helped me a ton with my breathing and calming me down. A few hours later they checked me again and alas still 2cm. They decided to set me up with the IV (potocin) to see if they can get me to progress. Unfortunately again for me potcin is known to really speed up contraction and make them come on HARD! so a couple of more hours I was really in pain and still at 2! The nurses finally felt bad for me and gave me the epidural early. PHEW relief!!!! I finally had a chance to take a nap. However, the baby decided she didnt like the potocin so her heart rate started to drop on and off. This concerned the staff, especially the first time it declerated. The whole floor seemed to rush into my room as I lay there in full display. I was still not making progress so they tried to up the dosage but everytime they did, Mia's little heart rate would drop. So after a few more hours of not progressing past 3 they finally suggested a C-section. This is soooo not what we wanted to hear, but I was willing to do anything to help my little one come into this world trouble free. We finally agreed to it and they took me off the IV. But with every contraction now, Mia's heart would drop. It was a scary time, especially since all the OR's were taken by other C-sections. Then it happened.... the pain came back!!!! Slowly but it did. About an hour later the contractions were harder and more painful than when we started!!! I knew something was wrong I kept pushing the button to increase my epidural but nothing would happen. The doc wouldn;t give me anything else since I would be wheeled into the OR soon. So Adrian and I just had to deal with it. FINALLY!!!! it was my turn and they took me into to the OR, contracting and all. As they prep'd me they found out that my epidural actually FELL OUT!!!! and thats why I Wasn't feeling the numbing anymore!!! So they decided to give me a spinal for the surgery. They couldn't get it just right so it took a few times. Finally I was numb!!!! They brought Adrian in and 20 mins later at 4:07pm we heard the first cries of our little angel!!! 17 hours later after we started baby Mia was born 8 lbs 3oz, 20.5 inches. Adrian was so happy and recorded her being cleaned up. They brought her over to me so I could give her, her first kisses on her head and they whisked her away to another room with Adrian. After they finished sewing me up they took me to a recovery room where I had to stay for an hour till I got some feeling back. They finally let me see her soon after and we got some needed bonding time. Eventually they brought me to another room where I stayed till Monday when they discharged me. My parents and brother, sis in law and neices all came down the day she was born and actually got to see her moments after she was born as she was being wheeled to the nursery. It was a huge treat for everyone!

Anyways, the first week has been alittle rough. Along with breastfeeding problems (which are finally getting better) and her not liking to sleep we have been managing. My parents stayed with us till Wednesday night to help and boyyyyyyy it was TONS of help. It allowed us to rest and prep for the upcoming week. After my parents left, Adrian's mom came down and she is also helping us, till Sunday then we are on our own

Ack its "Mia time!" Daddy needs me to take over for a bit/ Anyways I just wanted to give everyone an update on how things went. We are all doing fine and I will blog updates when I can. Love you all thank you for all your prayers!!! Angie, Adrian and Baby Mia

41 Week Checkup....

Current mood: tired

We just got back from my final OB check up. Boy it was HOT! today. It was 108 in Wildomar and 103 where we live... ewww. So the heat didn't help I am constantly swollen and overheated.

Anyways back to my appointment, Adrian was able to go wih me today so YAY! I haven't gained any more weight so that was a HUGE plus. I am not too concerned about me being heavier, its the thought of her growing huge and having to give birth to an over sized baby haha. Her heart beat was good and strong and it put a huge smile on Adrian's face. Then came the big part... the "checking". Turns out I am not making huge progress (big surprise there, especially since my contractions are sooooo rare and spread out and all bleeding stopped days ago) HOWEVER! I am a finger-tip dialated!!! That means its something, but just not all tha great. (Especially since I should have been dialated that two weeks ago!) But I am happy it is something. I have a huge feeling that she will have to be induced at the rate of my progression, but thats ok its only a few more days away.

***WARNING TO MUCH INFO BELOW ****

Ok here is some TMI info. also, right before my appointment when I went to the restroom to do my usual pee test for the nurse I did notice some yucky mucus. I haven't had any discharge like that before, so when I asked my OB about it she said it could very well be some of my mucus plug. So YAY!

*****************************************

So thats about it. Still a waiting game. I will post more as things change. So far I feel ok just alittle tired and frusterated but she will be here soon! My induction date and time is Thursday at 10:30pm.

Hmmm.... more pain... could this be a sign??

Current mood: optimistic

Ever since my last check up on Monday, I have still been spotting. Though lightly.. it comes and goes. This kinda makes me happy since I don't think its soley due to the check up since it hasn't disappeared completely. It hasn't gotten as heavy as the time right after my appointment but its still there!

My cervical pain is gotten alot worse! I feel so tender there that even sitting wrong aggravates it. I actually welcome pain right now because I know it COULD be a sign of something happening.

Braxton hicks or real contractions?! Thats the is the question. Well I have been getting braxton on and off for a while now but ever since yesterday I think I am FINALLY getting some real ones, though small. I say this because with my braxton, my tummy get tight and I get alittle uncomfrotable but thats it. Now, about 10 seconds before a contraction happens, I can suddenly feel my heart rate elavate slightly, then my tummy tightens and it goes thru to my back, then the cervical pain kicks in. It lasts about 30-40 seconds and it does bring more pain than before. I have only had a few of these and they are REALLY spread out in time. (Hours worth) but hey its something right?!

We are back in San Diego again with my in-laws who are on baby watch while Adrian is at work. I don't think I will be heading home again in Riverside only because yesterday's drive out here was pure HELL! Since my Mazda6 doesn't have Adrian on the registration, he can't take it on base for work, therefore, we have to take his Subaru when we come here. If anyone knows Adrian's car, comfort is the LAST thing you'd right in its description. Its more of a performance car than comfort car. His aggressive suspension and hard seats are not preggy friendly, and the whole ride I kept getting contractions and pain. Felt like poor baby Mia's head was a basketball and my cervix was the gym floor! When we finally got to my in-law the pain was MUCH better. I only got 1 big contraction late at night but that was about it. I got another baby one this morning but nothing as big as yesterday. So I don't think I want to get in that car for long drives again till this little one is out!

Thats about it. Some slight progress but nothing HUGE! I welcome any progess at this point so I am alittle happy. (Ask me that again when I go into full labor... I'll probably punch you in the nose! haha jk)

Well I will write more when I can... hmmmm... maybe everyone is right... maybe she will be a 4th of July baby?!?!

40 Week Check Up... sigh.....

Current mood: bummed

Well today was my 40 week check up. I had high hopes for this appointment since I was experiencing severe cervical pain last night. I still wasn't bleeding or leaking yet, but I have been having more tiny contractions. Anyways, I went in for my appointment and my OB checked me... sigh... still no progress yet. This kinda bummed me out a bit.. ok ok ok alot. Then my OB said she would try to manipulate my cervix to see if she can get it "going" but she ended up not being able to reach it?? (This is weird cuz she was able to last week... go figure).

Then she checked baby Mia's heart beat and I couldn't believe how human like it sounded. It had the double beat thing and everything. Not like it used to be. Her heart is good and strong.

So whats next?! Well I have an appointment set up for July 10th to be induced at the Riverside Kaiser hospital. Also, they will perform a baby stress test to make sure she is not distressed. Thats about it. Its just a waiting game now...

After the appointment I went home to rest. Then I noticed I started spotting. I am guessing this is from the exam since it isn't heavy and now its practically gone. I am hoping this is a good sign. I have noticed that though I haven't officially "dropped" yet, Adrian and I both noticed that she is alittle bit lower than usual. The cervical cramps are harder now and I have been getting more contractions. I am hoping something is going on and the baby can get thru my "stubborn cervix" (the term my OB called my cervix). Well thats about it. It was 105 today in Wildomar and this heat is getting to me. I have 1 last check up on Monday so we will see how that goes. I will write more when I hear more. As for now I am going to attempt to walk down the block to the mailbox. Wish me luck!
