Current mood: drained
Well its been 1 week since I gave birth to my beautiful little baby girl Mia. Mama and baby are doing good, oh and Daddy too. I cant write a whole lot since she doesn't let me out of her sight to long. Since Daddy is holding her right now I have a couple of minutes.
Well as you know I was scheduled to be induced on July 10th at 1030 at night. Everything seemed to go well. I was contracting on my own (tiny ones) and was dialated 1.5. We had a baby stress test earlier that day to make sure Mia wasn't distressed and she passed with flying colors. Anyways off to the hospital we went. Boy was I nervous. Anyways, they decided to start me on a small dose of "cytoec" to get me started before they started the potocin (IV). Things went along alittle slow and after awhile my contractions became harder and harder. The nurses thinking I was dialating pretty good checked me and alas I was still only 1.5 after a couple of hours. This wasn't too good. The contractions kept coming harder but they couldn't give me anything till I was at least 3-4. So I did my best to rest then "POP" my water broke around 230am. So we felt that was good progress and good news!! well not for the nurses who had to keep cleaning me up haha. They checked me again and alas only 2cm. This wasn't good. So they had me walking around the hallways for an hour to see if the baby could drop a bit more. This was a BAD idea because since my water broke I ended up making messes all over the hospital and nurses kept having to come t the resucue! haha. Finally they had me get back into bed and boy did the contractions increase. Unfortunately for me, I was contracting 3 huge contractions back to back (less than 30 seconds apart) before I would get a 4 min. break then BAM 3 more. I was in pain but Adrian helped me a ton with my breathing and calming me down. A few hours later they checked me again and alas still 2cm. They decided to set me up with the IV (potocin) to see if they can get me to progress. Unfortunately again for me potcin is known to really speed up contraction and make them come on HARD! so a couple of more hours I was really in pain and still at 2! The nurses finally felt bad for me and gave me the epidural early. PHEW relief!!!! I finally had a chance to take a nap. However, the baby decided she didnt like the potocin so her heart rate started to drop on and off. This concerned the staff, especially the first time it declerated. The whole floor seemed to rush into my room as I lay there in full display. I was still not making progress so they tried to up the dosage but everytime they did, Mia's little heart rate would drop. So after a few more hours of not progressing past 3 they finally suggested a C-section. This is soooo not what we wanted to hear, but I was willing to do anything to help my little one come into this world trouble free. We finally agreed to it and they took me off the IV. But with every contraction now, Mia's heart would drop. It was a scary time, especially since all the OR's were taken by other C-sections. Then it happened.... the pain came back!!!! Slowly but it did. About an hour later the contractions were harder and more painful than when we started!!! I knew something was wrong I kept pushing the button to increase my epidural but nothing would happen. The doc wouldn;t give me anything else since I would be wheeled into the OR soon. So Adrian and I just had to deal with it. FINALLY!!!! it was my turn and they took me into to the OR, contracting and all. As they prep'd me they found out that my epidural actually FELL OUT!!!! and thats why I Wasn't feeling the numbing anymore!!! So they decided to give me a spinal for the surgery. They couldn't get it just right so it took a few times. Finally I was numb!!!! They brought Adrian in and 20 mins later at 4:07pm we heard the first cries of our little angel!!! 17 hours later after we started baby Mia was born 8 lbs 3oz, 20.5 inches. Adrian was so happy and recorded her being cleaned up. They brought her over to me so I could give her, her first kisses on her head and they whisked her away to another room with Adrian. After they finished sewing me up they took me to a recovery room where I had to stay for an hour till I got some feeling back. They finally let me see her soon after and we got some needed bonding time. Eventually they brought me to another room where I stayed till Monday when they discharged me. My parents and brother, sis in law and neices all came down the day she was born and actually got to see her moments after she was born as she was being wheeled to the nursery. It was a huge treat for everyone!
Anyways, the first week has been alittle rough. Along with breastfeeding problems (which are finally getting better) and her not liking to sleep we have been managing. My parents stayed with us till Wednesday night to help and boyyyyyyy it was TONS of help. It allowed us to rest and prep for the upcoming week. After my parents left, Adrian's mom came down and she is also helping us, till Sunday then we are on our own
Ack its "Mia time!" Daddy needs me to take over for a bit/ Anyways I just wanted to give everyone an update on how things went. We are all doing fine and I will blog updates when I can. Love you all thank you for all your prayers!!! Angie, Adrian and Baby Mia
