She was having fun playing and taking pictures at the park... then she got tired. Her Grandpa Pizano was holding her. Her expression is classic!

My little 11 week old!
Current mood: hungry
11 weeks today! My little one is rounding the corner to 3 months! I can't believe it!
Well this week started off pretty good. She has been talking up a storm and smiling like crazy. The days have been getting better until... about Wednesday. Then she took a couple of steps backwards. She stopped talking so much (usually only talks now when she’s upset and wants errrr... demands your full attention) she still smiles a lot but now she’s becoming the old Mia Fuss Fuss again. I am not sure what changed... her progress has been great but now she refuses to take naps longer than 15mins during the day so she gets real cranky and moody during the later part of the day. The only way we can get her to take longer naps is if she sleeps on Adrian (which is really sweet but not practical). So we are trying to figure out how we can get her to take longer naps during the day... once we nail this problem I think her fussiness will get a lot better.
She found her hands this week. She always has them in her mouth. At first I thought she was just hungry but she isn't and does this all the time now. She loves to munch on her hands which I don't mind (she is a baby) but I am praying she doesn't find that thumb! She reaches up to you now too and loves to touch your face, but you gotta be careful once she grabs a hold she really digs in and its painful haha. She’s still cooing a lot but now its more of a gurrgle... its kinda funny. Tummy time is getting a hold lot better! (Thank goodness!) she doesn't scream like she used to and tolerates it a lot longer as long as it’s on her changing table. (One of her favorite places to be) I don't know if its because its soft to the touch, the lady bug print, or being up high. Either way its nice to see her actually holding up her head better when on her tummy and not having her suffocate herself like she used to. She also learned to roll on her side, though she seemed to have stopped doing that for awhile. I am not sure why this started or why it stopped but it was pretty cute. She’s also tolerating her jumperoo a bit more and she’s almost big enough to be in it without some extra padding to keep her from being swallowed up whole! haha
She is changing so much! looking more and more like Daddy everyday... I guess we found out who has the most dominate genes haha who knows she may change again. When she was born she looked like me, awhile later she looked like a blend, and now she’s a mini-Adrian haha. Her eyes are finally settling into a light brown, but they still get really greeny in the sun... hmmm.. maybe she will be an eye changing baby!
That’s about it for the week, as for now I am going to grab a quick snack before she’s becomes Ms. Fuss Fuss again

Ugh... joys of 4am feedings
Current mood: tired
I AM SO TIRED!!!!! sorry had to say that...
Well tonight started off as any other night. I bathed the little one, fed her, her bedtime bottle and off to dream land she went. I put her down in her crib and she didn't put up a fight at all. (This was around 7:30pm)
I went to bed around 9 but couldn't sleep till past 10. Then I awoke to her struggling and whining, yep it was her late night feeding time. It was early too, she usually wakes up around 3 but this time it was 1:30am. No biggy, I got her bottle ready, set up the bed so I could feed her. Changed her diaper and fed her. She went to sleep again without much fuss and off to bed she went. After cleaning up everything I was in bed again by 2:30. Off to dream land I went as well.... aaaaaah rest... finally...
Then BOOM 4:30 hit and up wakes Mia. Yes she was hungry AGAIN so up I went, set up the bed for a another feeding (this time I wasn't prepared in advanced so I had to go downstairs to fix a new bottle). I changed her diaper ..hmm.. not to wet... ah well, up went Mia and I fed her. She began falling asleep again (phew good..) and off I went to put her back in her crib, but I noticed something... she didn't smell too fresh! Yep she was wet... now comes the dilemma: she’s sleepy right now I can put her down and she will sleep for a bit but I risk 2 things, she may wake up extra early because of her wet diaper (she hate being wet) or she will go a long time and end up with a rash. SIGH!... off came her diaper and on came a fresh one. She began struggling as I myself struggled with those darn snap jammies that have like 1000000 snaps on them! FINALLY I got it on, then I heard a crinklying sound I looked over and the dumb cat was in the room eating something off the floor! Before I could give Mia her binky I had to race over and take whatever was in the cat's mouth (in the dark) and I dropped her binky! Off ran the cat and off ran me to the bathroom to clean her binky. When I got back little Miss Mia was no longer sleepy. She just looked up at me and smiled and began talking....great.... She still had about an ounce left in her bottle so I decided maybe she will get sleepy again after eating that. So off to the room we went again, I fed her that last oz and she got sleepy (YAY!) I picked her up and noticed her bottom was a little warm... yep she went pee pee again! ARRGH! so off went her jammies on came a new dry diaper and open went Mia's eyes. (I blame the 100000 snap jammies... that’s it she’s wearing night gowns from now on!) I carried her off to bed anyways hoping shed get sleepy when I turned on her little fishy musical tank on her crib, but nope now I hear she has the hiccups now .... ARRGH! I will never get any sleep. Joys of Motherhood and 4 am feedings... you just have to laugh about it!
**** 5:43am update****
Well she finally started drifting off to sleep (hiccups and all) when her musical fishy tank automatically shut off... that woke her up because she started crying. I turned it back on and gave her, her binky but looks like she might want to get up... sigh ... will I ever know what sleep is again!??!

10 weeks old and doing so many new things!
Current mood: blissful
Well she finally made it; she’s into the double didget weeks now. 10 Weeks! My little one is growing so much and so fast!
This past week she has been surprising me left and right. It’s like as soon as she hit 2 months she decided to start liking things she hated before. It all started with her crib. She is growing so much and so fast now that she is quickly out growing her bassinette. She is always all smooshed in it and she’s always whining and trying to move but gets stuck. So I decided to try to lay her down for her naps in her crib. To my amazement she loves the crib! I thought maybe she wouldn't like it to much because of all the room, but I was so wrong. She took a nap in her crib for the first time this week and now she always takes naps in it. In fact, last night was a huge milestone night.. she actually spent the entire night in her crib! I put her down at 730pm and she didn’t wake up till almost 4! In fact I had to force her awake so she could eat. Once she ate she went right back down with no fuss. I can't believe my little girl is already sleeping "in her big girl bed" as Auntie Lauren calls it . She woke up around 6 a little whiney because she wanted her binky. I gave it to her and it seemed like she wanted to go back to sleep. (I was once again mistaken ) I went back to bed (the master bedroom is right next door which is really nice.. no more trips up and down the stairs all night long and sleeping on the couch near the guest room ) as I began to relax I heard her on the monitor... no it wasn't crying or fussing or whiney even... it was her talking to herself . Yep Mia was awake and not going to go back down..so I went to her room and sure enough she was all bright eyed, looked up at me and smiled. She was so rested, so I picked her up, took her down stairs as she jibber jabbered all the way down, changed her, played with her a bit, fed her and now she’s back in her crib for another nap (it’s 8am). She went down real easy so I have about an hour to kill before she wakes up. (that’s how long her naps usually last)
Another huge thing she did this week is she now likes her swing!!! Before she uses to scream whenever we put her in it and would only last 2 mins if that! Now she loves it and I can put her in it and get some house work done or eat!!YAY! She even took her first nap in the swing! She also likes her vibrating chair as well, it’s like her massage time haha. Unfortunately, it took her this long to like her little toys and now she’s almost getting to big for them. Hopefully she will get some good use out of them.
She’s also becoming more interactive with people as well as toys. I lay her down on her little play mat and she just entertains herself by kicking things and looking at her singing star (which used to make her scream in terror before). She loves her star now, when I first turn it on she always gets all excited and smiles and coos at it. It’s also a lifesaver, gives me more time to eat again and clean haha.
Oh I almost forgot, she also likes the little backpack (that’s actually in the front) carrier. I tried it out the other day and she liked it. She likes being carried around as it is, and now that I can finally use it, I have my hands free. It’s nice. Again, she fell asleep in it.. it was way cute. Now we can finally use it in stores (hopefully) so we don’t have to lug around her car seat or stroller if it’s a quick trip. YAY!
One of the other things we have been working on with her is tummy time. OMG she HATES it . It always causes her to go into a crying fit where she screams so much it takes awhile to calm her back down when it’s over. I hate doing it because she struggles so much with it however, the doc says we need to give her more time. Unfortunately, Mia is delayed now in her milestone of being able to support herself on her hands and lift her head off the ground because we never did tummy time before (due to her hating it). So I’ve been working with her everyday little by little to get her used to it. She still screams and refuses to use her hands and arms. She just kicks like crazy which causes her to ram and slide her face on the ground, or smother herself. Sigh... this is a new challenge for her but with a little work and determination I am sure we can get her up to speed on things.
That’s about it for the week. She is smiling and cooing so much now and every day I love her more than the previous day (didn’t know that was even possible) I am so proud of my little one she is growing and changing so fast!

*VIDEOS* Mia talking
(Sorry for the high pitch noise, the camera was acting up) Mia loves to talk to herself when hanging out on the changing table. I finally caught it on camera, but I had to be out of her view because as soon as she sees me she stops

9 weeks old and she got pricked!!!!!
Current mood: crushed
Well there isn't to much new to write about since I wrote so much in the last blog but I did want to write about how her 2 month old check up went... yea and it came with shots =(
What a way for Adrian and I to spend our 10 year anniversary.. in the doctors office waiting for our little angel to be stabbed by huge needles till she bled... sigh.. well first things first.
She had a very good night sleep and woke up in such a good mood. She was cooing so much and smiling like crazy. It was actually pretty chilly today for once so I got to dress her up in her cute little jogger outfit we bought last month. It has the cutest little sweat pants and jacket. She actually did very well on the car ride to the doctor’s office in Moreno Valley (30mins drive away). Daddy sat in the back seat while Mama drove for once. I didn't really want to drive but daddy worked all night long and was on less than an hour sleep.
We finally got to the doctors office and they weighed her. She’s 11 lbs 12.8 oz!!!!! She’s growing so much! She’s also 1 foot 10 inches. She did well as she lay in nothing but a diaper on the doctor table. She went nuts kicking the table because it made that crinkly sound due to the paper on it. She was so happy just kicking like crazy, smiling and cooing. Her doctor finally came in and examined her. He said she looks real healthy and to keep up the good work. He let us know that we no longer have to wake her up to eat at night and she can go all night if she needed to. (We wont let her yet thought I feel shes still to small). Her having only 1 poopie a day is also normal and all her motor skills seem good. The only thing he said we need to work on is giving...er.. making her do her tummy time at least 10 mins a day even if she screams through it. So, doctors orders I will be making her do that more often now. Maybe before bed to tire herself out enough to sleep. She did really well with her doctor till he checked her legs, that irritated her and she started crying. He later left and here comes the big bad nurse with her needles! Uh-oh. Well first she was given an oral vaccine (rotovirus) which she did ok till she started choking.. poor thing. Then came the big 3! 1 DTaP-HBV-POL (Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis, Hepatitis B, Polio), 2 HIB PRP-T (Haemophilus influenzae b), and 3 PNUcn (Pneumococcal conjugate, pneumonia). She got two in one thigh and one in the other. As soon as she was pricked she let out the biggest scream I have ever heard her do. She turned beat red, cried so hard she wasn't breathing, and was shaking. Adrian was holding her hands while I was choking up from the sight. It was awful. Then the nurse put two tiny bandages on and she bleed right thru them, so as Adrian was finally getting her to calm down, the nurse had to rip off the band aids and give her fresh ones. Of course this made her scream again.... poor baby. Eventually she was all done and Adrian managed to calm her down. I dressed her up again and she seemed happy. She spit out her binky and smiled at me as to say, its ok Mama I am ok! Adrian picked her back up and off homeward bound we went. She fell asleep in the car and when we got home, I changed her clothes fed her and she went right down for a nap. That is where she is right now. The doc told us that she may become feverish between now and two days from now and unless it gets bad we don't need to worry. We can give her .6ml of Tylenol every 4 hours. Right now I am keeping a close eye on her and will let her sleep as much as she needs to. I will write more if anything new happens. As for now I am off to get rest... we both need it haha

She’s 2 months old!!!!!!!
She’s 2 months old!!!!!!! Current mood: happy
OMG! She’s already 2 months old!!!! How time is flying by! Just seems like yesterday we took her home from the hospital! She is growing so much, and gaining so much baby weight it’s too cute. She no longer fits her 0-3 month clothes very well; in fact I haven't even put anything on her lately with that size. She now wears 3-6 months! I am not sure how much she weighs but I am sure we will find out tomorrow when she goes in for her 2 month check up and gets her shots =( I am not looking forward to that. Poor little thing. But until then.. let’s see what new things she has been doing this month!
Well let’s see a month in review. Daddy and Mama are finally getting the hang of this parenting thing. We are sooooo very far from being called experts but we are no longer newbies! We graduated to semi-noobs lol. Adrian finally started going back to work in San Diego, and though he works from home more than he should (according to his job he shouldn't be doing that at all) I have been soloing her more than I ever had before. Things were real shaky at the beginning, I would break down crying ALOT when I couldn’t seem to manage her crying at night. It soon got to a breaking point and fast. My parents came to the rescue! They did visit when they could, but the main rescuing was letting me know it was ok to let her cry if there was nothing else she needed done (ie. feeding, changing, burping, etc) That was the hardest thing I EVER had/have to do is letting herself tire herself out by crying. But to my total amazement it really works. It worked so well that by the third night I let her cry, she stopped doing it!!! Granted there are those odd nights were it does take her a little longer to fall asleep (last night being one of them) but when she actually does fall asleep she goes down for the count! She usually goes down about 8 and doesn’t get up again till 3 to eat! sometimes we had to wake her up because she was sleeping too long past her eating time limit (no more than 8 hours!). So that is definitely a new thing for this month.. her going down to bed in her bassinette at night and sleeping the night. She no longer needs us to walk her constantly or have her sleep with us (though Adrian may disagree with this but I think Daddy just likes to have his little girl sleep on his chest)
As for the day time. Well that is still another story. she is still a handful and what works at night doesn’t work during the day. However, she just recently started taking naps alone in her bassinette during the day. They are usually pretty short though, only lasting an hour at best, but hey its progress.
Another new thing she did this month was, as she becomes more aware of her surroundings and environment, she started holding her rattles and playing more. She loves to shake them around and the noise gets her all excited. Also, I can now lay her on her little play mat and spin this little Mobil above her head. She LOVES to look at it and even talks to it sometimes. The only bad thing is, my arm gets tired from spinning it after awhile and she gets mad when it stops! haha She is learning to make more noises and she talks ALL the time now. Her little baby jibber jabber is sooooo cute! She smiles a lot more now and when you touch her mouth she always smiles (if she’s in a good mood that is haha). She is way more interactive than ever before and I am enjoying it to the max!
We started taking walks for the first time this month as well. Though we only done it a couple of times (due to the weather being to hot lately) she seems to enjoy it , as long as they are short walks. I learned my lesson from the last walk, when it lasts to long and it’s warm outside, she is not a happy camper!
She also took her first trip to San Diego this month! This was the first time she traveled outside of Riverside County and her first real big car ride. She wasn't too thrilled about that, but she got to meet a lot of the Cardoso family including her Great Grandma Estrada!
Her Uncle Jimmy, Auntie Lauren and cousins Tracy and Sarah visited her at the house this month and she was such a good baby. No meltdowns or anything.
She has outgrown wanting to be swaddled and I miss that a lot. She looked so cute every time we bundled her up like a burrito in her green Kaiser blankey. She still sleeps with it, but now she has to have it lightly put on her. If it’s too tucked in, she kicks it off. She is definitely a wiggle worm! She is also slowly out growing her bassinette, if you see pictures of her; she is always all smashed in it. Though it’s still too warm to move her into her own room upstairs (with the crib) we may get her a playpen so she can sleep in that in the meantime.
I am fully recovered from my surgery. I got the green light from my doc. earlier this month to do everything I have done before, ie. exercising, walking, lifting etc. I no longer have pain, but once in a blue mood I get little stabby pains in the surgery area, but it’s rare. I can walk a lot more now but now I am having trouble with my feet. I have flat feet so if I walk a lot without support my feet hurt, and I walk TONS with little Mia during the day (barefoot due to not wearing shoes in the house) and when I am trying to get stuff done. I may go into the doc to see what they say about that.
Breastfeeding.... well I am still nursing but unfortunately with little Mia the eating machine, I can’t keep up with her, and supplementing her has become routine. In fact I seem to supplement her more than nursing now since she now refuses to nurse at times (especially when she’s real hungry). I pump as much as I can so for those times she refuses to nurse so I can still feed her breast milk in her bottle. She is becoming too used to the bottle so I will need to force her to nurse a little bit more aggressive so I don't lose my milk. I can already see my supply dwindling and unfortunately the only way to get it up is for HER to nurse, the pumping does nothing to help that. So we will see how it goes. I am hopefully planning to nurse her to 1 year but we will see... it depends, especially if she teethes early (she is already showing signs!)
So in summary:
Feeding: 4-6 oz
New things: becoming more alert of her surroundings, traveling to SD for the first time, taking walks in her stroller for the first time, sleeping 6 hours straight, sleeping at night, using toys and rattles, no longer wanting to be swaddled, taking naps in her bassinette during the day, smiles when you smile at her and smiles a lot more, jibber jabbers and talks a lot, rubbing her eyes when she’s tired, and grabbing things (once she grabbed her own binky that was above her head and held it, shaking it like a rattle), turns her head while laying down to see things, takes her baths without crying!, "Happy Mia Time" lasts a lot longer now, and she’s drooling soo much... is teething in the near future?!?!
Weight: 11 lbs 12.8 oz (as of 09-12-08)
Goals met from last month?: Well we did meet the goal of weaning her off the nurser and now she’s uses bottles whenever we supplement her. As for getting her to like her bouncer and swing...well that hasn’t happened yet. She still cries a lot when you put her in them =( She likes to be entertained and not placed in one spot alone for too long. Not sure if this will change, but who knows we still got time
Goals for next month: Getting her used to the stroller more by walking her... hopefully make it around the park without her crying. Taking her out to a store. Getting her to like tummy time (she refuses to do it now and cries whenever you put her on her tummy), get her to laugh, get her to take regular naps in the bassinette during the day so we can start working on a daytime routine.

Mia’s First Trip to San Diego!!!
Current mood: exhausted
Well we survived! Mia had her first trip down south to Sunny San Diego! to visit her Great Grandma Estrada and family. Boy was it an adventure to say the least...
First I had her all dolled up in her cute little yellow Pooh dress, with those shoe socks (I love!), and a cute little yellow bow. After putting her in the car, she didn't really fuss. Things seemed to go well as we took off on our 1.5 hour adventure in the car. She fell asleep almost immediately once we hit the freeway. All was going great.. Adrian and I got to catch up on talking.. it was nice and sunny out.. no traffic.. then.... BAM! Her little eyes opened! Uh-oh! But she still seemed ok.. she didnt want her binky and seemed to like looking out the window. All was peaceful till we hit Escondido. Then lil' Mia decided she had, had enough of the car ride and wanted her Mama (who was sitting next to her in the back seat) and Daddy to know by screaming! The cry became a panicky cry to scream in the manner of seconds! So now what do we do!?! Well I did everything I could to attempt to calm her down... offer up the binky? NO! she wanted no part of that, stroke her little cheek? NO! don’t touch me!, talk calmly to her, NO! be quiet!, sigh... so we ended up pulling off at the ARCO station in Terrisanta near Fry's Electronics and Qualcomm Stadium. Like bolts of lightening Adrian popped outta the car as I quickly unfastened her car seat belts and grabbed the diaper bag. We popped open the hatch back of my car and set up a make shift changing table there. (There was NO WAY I was taking my little girl into a grody nasty germ infested ARCO bathroom! besides from past experiences from my own bathroom emergencies, it never seems like ARCO/AMPM have bathrooms in the first place!) We whipped on a fresh dry diaper and Daddy took over carrying her around and showing her trees in the parking lot. She was all smiles and happy once again. We weren't though, after that crying episode and it being 90+ degrees out, we began doubting our decision to travel her so far from home. But we must press on.. almost at Grandma's house!
So we got her calmed down, back in the car we go. Things were meh till about the 805 then WAAAHH!!!! there she goes again! Luckily for us.. this meltdown session wasn't that long. We couldn't understand why unlike most babies... Mia didn't like to sleep in the car, but that’s Mia for ya I guess haha. At one point she didn't want to look outside anymore so I placed a receiving blankey over the top of her car seat to block the window.. that didn't last long since she got bored and wanted it off! This went on back and forth for awhile. FINALLY we made it to Grandma's house.. in one piece.
The visit was wonderful and soooo worth all the headache it took bringing her down. Great Grandma Estrada's eyes as well as everyone else’s lit up seeing her. Grandma Estrada (Adrian's Mom) got to see her little granddaughter bigger since she had not seen her since she was less than a week old. Her first words were (as she bolted out the door to greet us in the driveway) was "Oh My God! Look how BIG she is!!!" Everyone fell in love with little Mia and thank goodness she was on her best behavior. No meltdowns and only got fussy a couple of times. She even took a nap on Daddy's chest all tweak and twisted. We all agreed that Adrian should straighten her out but he said he knew she liked it. Sure enough when Adrian moved her to correct her position she woke up MAD! haha Auntie Teri, Eva, Great Grandma, Grandma, Cousins Geni, Oscar, Cynthia, Brianna, Natalia, and Auntie Rebecca all got to see and hold her. Seeing Oscar hold little Mia was too cute... he was all scared he would break her and didn't want to hold her at all. Of course Adrian had to plop her in his arms anyways, and it was so cute seeing his face light up. Cynthia got to feed her and like a natural she took right over. Then Mia started to do her notorious squirming and fussing and quickly Mama had to come to .. no not Mia's rescue, Cynthia's rescue!! hehe Geni also given the baby... with a little coaxing from Adrian (more like plopping the baby in her arms as well) Her face also lit up and both Baby and Cousin flashed their dimples. Too cute!
Ok back to the baby.... The whole visit went very well. Better than I could ever hoped. After the visit was over, we met up with Adrian's Mom again down the street near Longs Drugstore in Bonita so Grandpa Santos could meet her. She fell asleep on the way there so when we met up with Grandma and Grandpa she was a little fussy when we woke her up. However, as soon as we placed her in Grandpa Fernando's arms she quieted right down and fell asleep. It was really cute to see them meet for the first time. He was so excited to meet Granddaughter 3! After that little visit it was off to home we went.
Mia seemed to be doing ok until we hit the Terrisanta area again.. then BAM! (and to Terrisanta from Chula Vista really isn't that far) her little eyes opened and ..WAAAAH! Here we go again.. another classic Mia meltdown! So once again we had to pull off.. and once again it happened to be the SAME ARCO we pulled off at before! We rushed outta the car, popped the trunk and whipped out another fresh diaper for her. This time she demanded more!... so we fed her and she scarfed down 4 oz! We didn't want to give her a full feeding since we weren't sure if she would get car sick but after attempting to take away the bottle at 2oz she screamed. So she got what she wanted... all 4 oz! After a good burp and 30min trip delay we were back in the car once again. As we waited at the signal light to turn onto the freeway, I heard a grunt... uh-oh... as I looked over at Mia.. sure enough it was the famous red faced grunting Mia... yep it was poopie time. YIKES! She went.. and boy it wasn't the most pleasant smelling time either... down went the windows and off we zoomed across the street to a Shell gas station this time. We popped off the car, opened the trunk and ... eventually got Mia all cleaned up and ready to go. Now she was all fed, changed and had a poopie, it was now 40 mins behind schedule and 2 hours late from when I wanted to have her home. We thought she would be ok for the rest of the drive. We thought wrong. Sure enough right around the Southern Temecula area... she opened her little eyes again, looked around and WAAAH! sigh... another Mia meltdown. This time we were close to home and no way stopping! We were on a mission to make it back home in one piece! We eventually made it home and out went the Baby out of the car so quickly. I then picked her up and she seemed to be really happy being back home. I held her over my shoulder and talked to her quietly. Then as I laid her down on the changing table to change her diaper I noticed some spit up on her chin. I was like hummm that’s weird.. then I felt something cold and wet on my shoulder... sure enough when I looked over I was covered in curdled baby throw up! EWWW!! MIA! Off went my shirt and into the bath Mia went. After he bath I gave her, her dinner and off to bed she went without a fuss. She went down at 8:45pm and didn't wake up to eat till 5:15am! poor little one was tuckered out big time. She went right back down after her feeding and it is now 7am and she is still sleeping. Not even tossing and turning, she is out.
Well that was our little San Diego adventure! Talk about a big day. Adrian and I both decided we are going to wait a couple of more months before we travel her again that sort of distance. She just isn't ready and we need to expose her to smaller trips around town a bit more. She HATES her car seat so I think if I start walking her more around the neighborhood she will learn to tolerate it. At least that’s what we hope. Well I am off to rest a little more before she wakes up. I am still feeling it from yesterday. I posted tons of pics of our little adventure. I'll post more later

8 weeks old and growing like a weed!
Current mood: tired
Phew.. 8 weeks already. My little one keeps getting bigger and bigger... and I don't just mean her age.. she’s also packing on the pounds! haha
Every week seems to hold new surprises for us all. Just when we think she won't do anything new for a while.. BAM she shocks us all by doing something totally unexpected! So far this week has gone by pretty smoothly. Her night time sleeping habits are amazing! She only wakes up once to eat and sleeps non-stop most of the night. She does squirm and whine a bit in her sleep when she needs a diaper change... but with little Mama talent I can whip a fresh diaper back on her, in her bassinette, with little fuss, in under a minute! The only other thing that happens is she tends to lose her binky sometimes and whines about it. But as soon as you pop it back in, she closes her eyes (if they happen to be open which is rare) and turns her head to the side, puts her tiny hand on the binky and falls back asleep. It’s too cute. I want to take a picture of it, but I am afraid the flash will wake her up, which is has in the past. We definitely have a solid routine going for evening/nighttime. I make sure she doesn't fall asleep again past 5pm and gets her last feeding around that time. Then about 7ish she gets her bath (which includes a baby massage! with bedtime lotion to soft music), then gets her bedtime feeding so she’s nice and full.. then it’s off to bed. Since this routine has started she has yet to have a big blow out cry before bed! Now she usually gets a tiny bit whiny if that but usually falls asleep fast. So she is usually in bed by 8-9. She sleeps sound till about 3ish when she needs to eat. After she eats, it’s right off to bed again.. usually with little to no fuss. Then she wakes up between 6-8 for her breakfast and then usually starts the day. Sometimes if she is a real sleepy head she will sleep till 10, but that’s not all the time. Her daytime routine is another story.... it doesn't exist!
During the day she is usually a handful. But starting yesterday she has been actually taking small consistent naps! This helped a lot and she was in a better mood during the day. She has so much energy and gets bored easily so I am constantly with her entertaining her. I can't wait till she is old enough to play on her own or is able to play in things like her jumperoo so I can get some house stuff done ie. laundry, dishes, cleaning, cooking, etc. So my day pretty much consists of playing with her, with her rattles, taking her around the house to see new things, and bouncing her around which she loves. Oh yea, she started playing with rattles for the first time this week too! She holds her little butterfly rattle in her hand and shakes it like crazy.. she gets so excited doing this. It’s way cute! We bought her a jumperoo too (a little thing you sit her in which suspends her off the ground a bit so she can jump) well that turned out to be a disaster. Though she seemed to like the bounce in it and look at all the little toys around her, she was waaaaay to small for it and it nearly swallowed her whole! I only put her in it twice. The first time she was tired so really didn't enjoy herself much and I had trouble getting her out since she sunk into it so much. The next day when she was happy I put her in it and again was swallowed up, however, this time she panicked! I tried to get her out but I couldn't! The frog seat ate her alive! I panicked! but was eventually able to pry her out. So needless to say no jumperoo again till she’s older haha.
We started a new thing this week also. We are starting to take walks together. Granted we only got to do this twice (the weather is still pretty warm and I have to wait till it’s a cooler day). Around 6pm right before the sun goes down completely, it starts to cool off around here enough to go outside. I took her on her first walk on Tuesday to our mailbox down the street. She seemed to be ok with it... still was unsure and stared at me the whole time. Then I took her out again yesterday. I should have known... from the beginning she stared at me with this mad look. She refused to look around or anything! But she made it to the mailbox and back just fine so I had the bright idea to take her around the park across the street from our house! She was fine till about mid-way just when we were at the peak furthest from our house she began to melt down! Oh-no! luckily, like a prepared mommy, I whipped out her favorite binky and off we went home very quickly. She only spit it out a couple of times to cry but we managed to make it home in one piece! Once she got inside, she was happy again. I am going to attempt to take more walks with her to get her used to being outside, experience new things, get fresh air and sun, and get some much needed exercise for myself. We will see how the future weeks are like.
As for eating, she is still at 4 oz but eats that minimally now. Sometimes she will eat 4.5 but nothing like she did when she went through that tiny growth spurt. The only other unfortunate thing is, she is beginning to refuse to nurse. Since we started giving her bottles more, she is becoming lazy and doesn't want to work for her food. Therefore, I am pumping as much as I can so I can at least give her breast milk that way. The hard thing is, I can only really produce 1-3 oz per pumping session so it takes a few to get enough to feed her 1 bottle. You better believe I don't let her waste that hard worked milk! haha But nursing has become a battle. If she is hungry enough she will tolerate it, if not there is no way.. she just refuses and cries. (Refusing as in doesn't even close her mouth, she just cries) Sigh... I am hoping she isn't completely weaning yet but we will see. I am not giving up yet!!!! Baby Mia maybe be stubborn... but she forgets where she got it from.. ME! haha
Another semi-sad thing that happened as well, is she is no longer wanting to be swaddled. I miss seeing her all bundled up like a little burrito. Now she kicks at anything on her till it’s nearly off then she gets comfy. At night, I have to lightly put her little green Kaiser blankey on her to keep her feet warm; if I tuck her in she gets mad. Oh well...at least I got a lot of cute pictures of her wrapped up.
That’s about it, she’s about to wake up now so I am off to tend to my little one. I can't believe she is almost 2 months!!!! She is growing so fast. I am dreading the 12th though.. even though it is Adrian and I's 10 year anniversary of being together.. it’s also the day Mia gets her immunizations... that will be no fun. I am sure I will write all about it, till then its off to get some "Happy Mia Time" in.
Phew.. 8 weeks already. My little one keeps getting bigger and bigger... and I don't just mean her age.. she’s also packing on the pounds! haha
