Current mood: stoked
This week flew by so fast, I didn't even know it was already Friday till Adrian reminded me! Its just one big blurr to me, but not much really happened, other than Mia being Mia well, now that I think of it.. a few things did happen.
One of the new things she did was, she grabbed her own alien toy all by herself. Her alien usually sits against the wall on her changing table and I usually give it to her if she starts fussing. Its her favorite toy out of all of them so it usually cheers her up if she isn't to happy. This time she decided she didn't want to wait for me to give it to her so she rolled on her side and grabbed it herself and started hugging it! It was soooo cute! Now she does it all the time, I have to practically wrestle it away from her!
Another first time thing she did was we were able to actually take her to two difference stores in one outing! Usually we only go to one place because we don't know how she will act and want to be close to home incase of an unexpected Mia meltdown. However, she has been really good in all the stores we have ever taken her so we decided to try two. So we went to PetCo and WinCo and she did great! I am so excited this means, I can bring her out more and have her out longer! YAY! I can't wait to take her out more, I really enjoy showing her off.
She also had a doctors appointment this week. She recently started getting this dry patch on her forehead, and it started to spread. This concerned me because I thought it could be eczema since I had that as a young kid. So off to the doctor's office we went. As we waited for her doc to see her, she entertained herself by going nuts on the paper on top of the examining table. It was too funny and too cute to see her going nuts and ripping it all up. She did great. they took her weight which is a little over 14 lbs!!!! I knew it was high since she is no longer a little feather but more like a sack of potatoes! Well the doc did finally check her out and reassured us that it isn't eczema but excessively dry skin. He recommended an ointment we could use and he said it should clear up pretty quickly (which is has! YAY) We are due back again this coming Monday when she gets her second round of shots! I am not looking forward to that at all... its the worst thing in the world to see your little one put through that. Makes me cry
Well this week also contained a HUGE American historical event. The first African-American president was elected! So Mia and I watched the elections on TV and we both were happy our candidate won! I even took some pictures of her next to the newspapers front pages. What a time to be born, she is very lucky! I kept those front pages for her baby box so one day she can see that and know this all happened the year she was born.
Let’s see what else... well one of the things I have noticed lately, is she is beginning to lose her little baby hair!! Noooooooo..... she’s growing up to fast. Every day I find more and more little hairs all over her Jammies, blankies, and bed. Though she isn't balding, even Adrian noticed her hair isn't as full as it used to be. I am sure it will grow back soon, but I am sure going to miss that soft little baby hair.
Also, I think its about time we changed her formula. She still doesn't eat a whole lot (usually average 4-5oz depending if I nurse her beforehand or not) but she is throwing up alot more and spitting up all the time. She never used to do that but now its all the time. I go through so many bibs just because of her blowing baby chunks... ew! So we might switch to soy soon, Doc said it would be ok. I will have to write an update on that later.
Well on to something more positive, she learned how to use her jumperoo!!!!! After having it for 3 months she FINALLY learned how to bounce around in it and she loves it! She goes nuts and it’s the cutest thing to watch her little feet go nuts (almost like she’s running in place) as she flies around. I took some videos of it because it was just too cute!
It’s been getting really chilly around here lately and freezing at night. Poor Mia's hands and feet are always frozen in the morning even after wearing the warmest jammies she has! So Adrian, Mia and myself went off to Home Depot and bought her a new floor heater especially for her room. Ever since we've been using it she’s been extra toasty and happy. Even her mid-day naps have lasted longer! She even slept for 3 hours straight in her bed during the day!!! That’s amazing especially since she hates taking naps during the day and it is usually a struggle to get her to stay asleep.
Well that’s about it for now. Now I am off to get her bath ready since it is getting late for her. Ever since this time change, she has started going to bed earlier. She knows its bath time/bedtime when the sunsets and since it usually sets a little around 5 her bedtime has gotten sooner. She still sleeps till 8am (of course she still has her 4-5am feeding) so it’s all good for us!!! Ack she’s starting to fuss... off to do more Mama duties!
