Current mood: blessed
Happy Friday!!! Mia is now 43 weeks old! Wow soon I will just say the month then week. When I say weeks alone, it makes her seem so much older haha. Well this week was filled with TONS a "new firsts" but unfortunately is also has a "not so fun" thing. I think I will start with the good stuff first.
It seems like everyday there is a new thing she starts doing. Just when you think she will back off and cruise along normally she surprises everyone by doing something new. Once and a while she will hit a milestone we all weren't expecting and that really shocks everyone. For example, this week she is becoming braver and braver. She is starting to let go of furniture and just stand there by herself. I know this isn't new but attempting to walk afterwards is! She is slowly starting to let herself go, then she turns and tries to take an independent step forward. She does fall on her butt but she tries anyways. She is determined to learn to walk. She gets such a kick out of us holding her hands and helping her walk. She always laughs and squeeks as she steps around like a big girl. Now she wants to do it by herself. She just has to learn her balance. We thought that was a huge deal however she top'ed herself a few days later when she climbed on the couch for the first time!
She has learned to climb into her little blue play chair and she loves to rock back and forth in it. (Also for the first time this week) The chair is right next to our couch and it didn't take long for Mia to notice that if she climbs into that chair she can climb onto the couch. Sure enough she did! Now she always climbs on that chair to get onto the couch. She loves to stand up holding the back of the couch and look around. I think she feels really high up there or or king of the mountain because she screams with joy and talks alot.
She also celebrated her first Cino De Mayo this week. Adrian and I nor our families really celebrate this "american made holiday" but I did take the opprotunity to make it fun for Mia.... well actually it was more fun for Mama haha. I dressed her up in the little Mexican Folklorio dress her Grandpa Pizano bought her from Juarez, Mexico when he was down there on business last year. It didn't really fit her the first time we put it on her when she was about 3 months old but now it fits perfectly. I gathered any "Mexican" type decortations I had around the house ie. my old kitchen rooster, chili peppers and even Tortilla warmer and made her pose with it. It was alot of fun sending pictures to family via emails wishing them a Happy Cinco De Mayo from Mia. She looked like a little Mexican Doll! So precious!
She also learned how to wave "hello, byebye" now. I have been trying to teach her how to wave but she really didn't pick up to much on it. Now she is finally showing interest in waving. She loves to wave now but what is really impressive is you can ask her to "Say Hi!" or "Say Byebye" without showing her to wave yourself, and she will wave automatically at the person. This is so cute! and when we are at the store and we have her do this to strangers, they just fall in love with her. Adrian and I were really excieted when she started doing this, but she blew us away even more when she learned how to "blow kisses!" Thats right, she blows kisses now too! I didn't even know she knew how to do that until we were at the Cable Company and one of the office ladies blew a kiss to her and Mia blew a kiss right back! Now she does it all the time if you show her first. She is really learning to mimic now. Oh and another thing I want to add in, whenever you cheer at her for doing something good like say "Good Girl!" she automatically claps for herself! Its really cute. She also claps when she is really happy.
Another thing that "Amazin' Mia" did this week is add another word to her baby vocabulary! Thats right, she can say "Hat" now. Daddy has been working with her for almost a month with identifying and saying Hat and finally this week she learned how to say it. If you show her a hat she knows what it is and if you ask her to "Say Hat" she will say it! Sometimes it does take some practice on how to remember how to say it but once she remembers she says it over and over.
She is dancing alot more now too. I even got it on video. She pretty much only dances when there is happy music on and especially when she watches her show "Yo Gabba Gabba". There is a part of the show where they all jump around and sing and she just loves to stand up, hold onto the TV stand and bounce around or rock back and forth. Even if you sing to her sometimes she will start to bounce or rock.
She is also learning the art of throwing things. I think she gets a kick out of throwing something, you giving it back to her just so she can throw it again. She constantly throws all our DVDs all over the ground, throws her little toys and has always been notorious for throwing her bottle after she finishes it. I am not to sure if this is a good thing since throwing things around isn't, but I have to admit its really funny and cute.
Well onto the part I have been dreading the most. The bad thing that happened this week. She got her first big owie last night. She was playing in the tub during bathtime and she slipped and fell and hit her mouth on the tub on the way down. She burst out in crying but settled down pretty quick, however she did start to bleed! I know!! It was horrible, but to my amazment I remained calm during the whole incident and took care of business like a veteran mom would! Wow, huh? I got her cleaned up, soothed her, and gave her alittle bit of tylonal for the pain so she could sleep, it was bedtime already. Shes fine now, though I still haven't seen her this morning yet to see if there is a bump or bruise or scab. She is sleeping in for once.
That is pretty much how the week went. It has been fun seeing her do these new things and watching her grow. I can't believe she will be 10 months this Monday! Scary how time flys by so fast, it feels like if you don't take at least alittle bit of time to reflect on stuff, things will pass you right by. That is also why I make it a point to keep track of things on her weekly blog updates, it really forces me to stop, slow down, and reflect. It gives me appreciation for the stages shes in and to reflect on the stages shes past. Overall, I enjoy writing my blogs and I hope one day she will enjoy reading them too.
