Week number 34!

Current mood: relaxed

Yay its FRIDAY!!!!! It not only means that tomorrow Daddy gets to stay home with us and not go to work but also Mia is 34 weeks old!!! WOW!

The week didn't start off so great though...Adrian and I were both exposed to the good ol "Wrath of Mia" again. We thought those uncontrollable night crying days were over once she left her newborn days behind. Boy were we wrong. We got a good ol' dose of Ms Fuss Fuss too! I don't know what got into Mia but boy she was a handful for the first part of the week. Luckily for us, she snapped out of it mid-week and has been pretty good since. We talked with some family memebers and they all agree, Mia is at that stage where she is begining to test us. And wants to see how much crying it takes before one of us goes and gets her. Hmmm..... well knowing that helps because it puts both Adrian and I back into our "parent" roles instead of "baby catering slaves" haha Things have been going good since. Granted she HATES to go down for naps or bed but since I have been doing a compromsie it has helped TONS. She no longer likes to sleep on her back and if you lay her down on her back she will blow up and definately let you know she disaproves! So I have compromised with her, I no longer put her on her back when I lay her down for bed. I put her in the crawling position and she doesn't seem to fuss anymore. I hand her, her blankey and like a big girl she rolls over and gets comfy where SHE wants to get comfy.

A new thing I noticed this week is she likes to sleep on her tummy now. She has been sleeping on her side for while but just recently found that she likes her tummy more. When I check on her at night or during naps she is always flat on her tummy and I mean flat! Her face is usually face planted right on the crib matress! I was scared at first but noticed she could still breathe pretty good. Sometimes she likes to pull her blankey over her head while she sleeps too and I have to go in there and take it off of her face. That crazy little sleeper! Haha

We also took her to the park this week. This was a first as a family. I have brought her to the park across the street before but it was with her Grandparents Pizano. This time it was just the three of us, Adrian, Mia and myself. We had fun but Mia on the other hand just wanted to go home. Granted we took her at a bad time, while she was sleepy, but she never cried. She was just alittle whinnier than usual. We still got some fun pictures of her and her Daddy though.

She is also learning to pull herself up alittle. She pulled herself up on her chair for the first time this week and sat down all by herself. Then later in the week she pulled herself up from my lap and into the standing position on the couch! She did it again today! I am so proud of her! She loves to stand and actually is starting to prefer that than sitting! Her balance is getting better and she can stand up against something by herself pretty well now. As for standing alone.. I think we are a few weeks from that, but she is slowly getting there. As for walking, her walker came in this week. She likes to play with the toys in it but doesn't quite understand you have to move your legs to move the walker. So she gets bored in it real easily. She does like standing in it though. So walking might be a couple of months down the road still. She can manuver her torso and arms good but she just can't seem to understand that she needs to lift her legs and move them too.

She also has been mimicking us more. She will repeat sounds that she knows and if you hit something she will hit it too. She also does her little "war cry" all by herself if you just tell her to do it. You go "ab bababa" and she will make her tiny fist and hit her mouth with it making that noise. Its really cute.

Her and Daddy also have started a new game. She loves it! He sits her on his lap and slow says "I'm gunna get you... " over and over and slowly gets closer to her. Then when he gets really close he will grab her fast, lift her up in the air and say "I got you! I got you!" and she screams and smiles every time. Now she is begining to anticpate when he will lift her. When he gets close to lifting her up, she opens her arms wide and waits for him to pick her up, all while having a huge smile on her face... dimples and all. However, if he doesn't pick her up she gets MAD! Hahaha

She is getting more familiar with commands as well. When you say "give me a kissie" she listens and does it more. When you say "up up up" she opens her arms and gets ready for you to pick her up. Speaking of which, she is finally doing this on her own now too. When she wants to be picked up she will put her arms in the arm all stretched out and you know she wants to be picked up, because if you don't pick her up she gets MAD! haha and usually cries.

Well thats about it for the week. Today we are going to Toys R Us to pick up a present for her baby cousin Daniel's 1st birthday party tomorrow. We will see if we can manage to go there and NOT buy something for Mia too! haha Well I am sure I will write more tomorrow after we get back from the birthday party in San Diego. We always manage to have some sort of adventure happen.

******************* UPDATE**************

We just got back from Toys R Us and we couldn't resist, yep Mia came home with a new toy. She is now a proud owner of a baby glow-worm! It lights up and plays music and she loves it. I had a glow worm when I was a little kid and its nice to see the tradition being passed on. haha

Anyways, the real reason why I am updating this blog because she did something for the first time. She clapped! I've been showing her unsucessfully for awhile and and leave it to Daddy, he shows it to her and BAM she does it. Now when you clap she will copy you and clap too! I will have to upload the video I took of her doing it, its really cute. She isn't to coordinated yet so she misses sometimes but she keeps doing it! GOOO MIA!
