Current mood: tired
Today started like any other day. I got Mia up in the morning, fed her breakfast and after her daily music video intake, we were watching some of her shows on the couch. She was in a pretty good mood, not whiny or anything. So I decided to treat her to a Mango. They just started to ripen so I knew they would taste pretty good. I usually hog all the mangoes for myself but I felt like being a sharing Mama today. So I cut it up, had her sit on the couch, and we shared it.
After most of the mango was gone I let her munch on the seed to get any left over fruit on it. She had a ball with this and wouldn't give me back the seed until almost every piece of mango was off of it. Eventually she was done and I tossed it out.
We spent the rest of the morning pretty much doing the same thing. Then I asked her if she was tired and wanted to take a nap. She flew off the couch in a flash, grabbed her blanket and walked to the stairs and held on to the baby gate. I was surprised she was so eager to go to bed but I didn't mind, I was sleepy to. So I opened the gate, she climbed up the stairs and went into her room and jumped on the bed. I thought to myself, wow this is pretty easy. WRONG!!!
I climbed into her bed with her to rest a bit before leaving. I wasn't even playing with her I just laid there on my side with my eyes closed. Before I knew it, Mia went completely NUTS ... or more like INSANE!!! She was literally bouncing all over her bed on her knees, screaming, laughing and belly flopping on her bed. Then she came over to me and started using me as a hurdle! She would jump over one side of me then face plant it back to the other side, laughing hysterically. I thought it was quite amusing too at first, until she wouldn't stop! I figured she would tire herself out soon enough and tried to wait her out. After 45 mins of me acting as her human hurdle I decided I had enough. I tried to calm her down but she was still going nuts. She bounced off her bed and was running all over her room! I couldn't understand why she was so hyped up when just a while ago she was a sleepy zombie downstairs.
I finally had to make a hasty retreat and called in the big guns! Dada! I woke him up and told him that Mia was going nuts and wouldn't calm down enough to go to sleep. So he got up and went into her room. I stayed next door in our master bedroom hoping to get in a quick cat nap. That didn't happen. All I kept hearing was Mia screaming, laughing, her little feet running around her room, and her going nuts! I chuckled to myself a bit because I could hear Adrian trying to calm her down like I tried to do unsuccessfully.
About 15 mins later I heard the door open and Adrian came back to the room defeated. He couldn't get her to rest either. He blamed me for sugaring her up with something. I Told him I didn't give her anything sugary.. then it hit me... THE MANGO!!! That was the culprit! He said he had never seen her so hyped up before and she was using HIM as a human hurdle too!!
So in the end, poor Mia just had to cry herself to sleep alone in her room. It only lasted about 5 mins because it soon got quiet and we assume she went to sleep. So what is the lesson today? Don't feed Mia any Mangoes in the morning!!!!!!
