Current mood: shocked
Grandpa has been watching Mia for the past 3+ weeks while I recover from my surgery. He watches her like a hawk and only recently did he admit that he can finally relax a tiny bit since I am finally able to do more and more things. I don't mind, I like to finally be able to do the things I have been so restricted in doing and also I like being able to give my Dad a much deserve break.
Well today Mia decided to give her Grandpa a run for his money. I had to use the restroom so I went upstairs. I let my Dad know where I was going so he could watch Mia real fast. Adrian was on the phone with an important call and was upstairs in the master bedroom.
After I used the restroom I heard some rustling in the room next door to the bathroom (Adrian's room). I thought it was odd and figured it was either the cat or maybe Adrian was in there looking for some paperwork for the people on the phone. As I walked past the room, on my way back down the stairs, something just called me instinctivly back to the room and to look inside. So I looked inside and to my shock and disblief Mia was in there!!! Standing in the back of the room, holding her little toy flag and getting into some plastic bags full of paperwork! "Mia! What are you doing up here!" At first I thought maybe Adrian or my Dad were playing a prank on me and put her in the room, but when I looked all around me there was no one else upstairs. They wouldn't leave her unattended up here with me, especially since I can't carry her back downstairs myself yet. I looked in the tech center, no one, I peeked in her room, no one.. and just then Adrian came into the room. He was still talking on the phone and I quietly asked "Did you take her up here!?" he looked confused and shook his head no. He was surprised to see her in his room too! Thats when it hit me, she got past Security Guard Grandpa and climbed up the stairs all by herself and went into the room!!! I was shocked! She has never climbed up the stairs by herself EVER! If she ever has climbed the stairs I am always there to help her along! Adrian picked her up and we walked her back downstairs. My Dad was sitting at the kitchen table on the laptop helping me back up her newborn DVD movies. I asked him if he was watching Mia and he said "ya, why?" thats when it hit him "Why whats wrong where is she?!" He quickly started to get up, I told him that I found her upstairs in Adrian's room alone. He felt so bad and apologized a million times. He said he just took her eyes off for a second to do something and didn't even think of her scaling the stairs alone. Again she has NEVER done that or attempted to do that on her own before. It was a shock to all of us but Mia. She knew she could do it.
So after that Grandpa has been on extra high alert to make sure she is ok and to know exactly where she is at all times. Its a learning experience for us all, I know now she can climb the stairs by herself, and alot can happen in only a few seconds! Sigh.. little Mia always keeping us on our toes!!!
