Thats right! Mia was in yet another Pageant! She is now a veteran pageant princess! hahah
I know what you are thinking, after what happened in the last pageant I swore off all future pageants and Mia was in retirement. Well she was!, that is until Dada found an ad for another pageant that was going to be held locally here in Temecula. I was really shocked that he would even suggest another pageant but I was still intrigued by the thought. I figured as soon as I looked into it, it would end up being one of those glitzy hardcore pageants but it didn't. The more I read the more my interest began to perk. Adrian suggested that I talk to my Dad about it since he was so bummed that he couldn't make her last pageant and he might want to go to this one. So I called my Dad that night to get his opinion about entering her in another pageant. He too was shocked that I would even bring it up again but was extremely excited at the idea. He offered to help in any way possible and soon I was fully on board too.
My Dad contacted the pageant people to get more details on when, where, and how we would register her. He did all the foot work for me. He then planned to come down for the day of her pageant to be with her. I wasn't sure how I would be able to handle her, especially now that I am 5 months pregnant, so my Dad offered to walk her up and do EVERYTHING for us! YAY!!! Unfortunately, Adrian had to work so he would not be able to attend.
So today was the big day. Grandpa drove down from Oxnard to be here for his little Pageant Princess. He packed his best suit and tie with him. A few hours after he arrived at our house it was time to go. I got Mia all ready, packed up her pageant dress (the same dress she wore the last time) and the three of us headed off to Temecula.
The pageant was held in a HUGE country club. There was kids EVERYWHERE! Thats when I realized that Mia would have lots of competition. She did good though. After checking in we took her to a private hallway and put on her dress. She had a blast just running up and down the hallways. We had to kill at least 45 mins before we could be let in to the grand ballroom so the three of us hung out outside for a bit. I was so surprised on how good Mia was. She never acted out, cried or fussed. I think it was the Grandpa charm that helped.
Soon the doors opened and we were let into the ballroom. There was a giant stage with all kinds of trophies and crowns that were being displayed on a big table. The turn out was pretty big... so we grabbed a seat.
Mia got alittle figity on the seat but soon calmed down. Then it was time to line up, so my Dad and her went off to the side where they lined up in order of their age and number. Mia was #68 and was competing in the Petite Miss division for Toddlers 12-24 months. I was nervous about how Mia would do sitting and waiting for her turn but she shocked me again. She sat nicely on her Grandpa's lap and was a good little girl.
The first division up was the Baby Miss. The youngest to compete was a 2 week old!!!! Yes 2 weeks!!! That division had a good amount of girls so it took awhile to get through them all. I sat nervously in the back and prayed Mia wouldn't give my Dad a hard time like she did with her Dada.
Soon her division was called up. All the kids marched back behind this curtain into a hallway. While back there my Dad said she was still good. At times she would get figity and didn't want to be held so she would sit on the floor. She also liked touching everything and everyone!! At one point she even tried to steal a little girls balloon. As it got closer and closer to their turn my Dad tried to do all the last min. touch ups. He tried to put the bow I gave him in her hair but she refused. Then he tried to adjust his name tag and thats all it took before he lost site of Mia for a split second. He looked frantically for her and feared she had gone on the other side of the curtain and was on stage!!!! Then he looked down and there she was, sitting there like a good girl. He quickly picked her back up.
Then it was SHOW TIME!!!! Her number was called and they appeared from the other side of the curtain. At first she didn't want to get off the ground by Grandpa worked his magic on her and got her all pumped up for the stage. They walked out hand and hand! I was again shocked by the fact that she didn't need to be carried!! She did AWESOME! She walked all around the stage and even waved at the judges!!! (My Dad later told me it wasn't a true wave, it was actually a half dance since he was singing "Yellow Submarine" (her favorite song) on stage to her! haha) She walked across everywhere and as they left the stage together she waved and said "Bye!!" It was TOO CUTE!!!
After their appearance on stage they had to wait with the other contestants against the wall. I ran over to their area so I could see them better. Mia looked so happy with her Grandpa. Then came time to meet the judges. All the girls in her division (there was at least 10) all walked up to the judges tables with their parent. My Dad held her proudly as she was introduced to the judges. Unfortunately, Mia decided to do her typical Mia look and stared down every single judge. I don't think this helped her chances of winning much. No matter what my Dad did she refused to smile, talk, or do anything but stare.
After the judging all the girl were lead back up stage for pictures. This time Mia had fun. She jumped up and down on the stage and started to scream and laugh. She was having so much fun with her Grandpa. Then she walked over to the girl next to her, who was wearing big red bows in her hair. This was the same girl she tried to steal the balloon from earlier, backstage. Well Mia walked right up to her and ripped a bow out of her hair!!! I just happened to catch it on video when she did that. My Dad quickly retrieved the bow back and gave it to the little girls dad. So ya, Mia was having fun.
After pictures they all left the stage and the next division went up. This time Mia and my Dad got a little break. After letting Mia run around a bit in the back we all sat down again. I fed Mia some apples, dried fruit and Cheerios!! She was happily munching out and sat quietly on her Grandpa's lap while they did the next 5-6 divisions.
After everything was done, all the contestants were asked back to the waiting area, so I kissed Mia goodbye and wished her luck and her and my Dad went back to the waiting area. They handed out some awards to some girls then came to the crowning.
They gave out the princess crowns first and thats when Mia was called up!!! I was so proud of her. Grandpa walked her back up on stage and she was crowned again with another beautiful crown! She did good too! She walked up on stage by herself and was crowned without having to be held at all!!! I was beaming with pride below, and cheering her on while my Dad was beaming with pride with his little pageant princess! After more pictures it was time to leave the stage. Mia wore her crown all the way off the stage which was another first!!!
After the crowning ceremony was done we were all reunited again. I was so happy and proud of my little Princess. We took a few more pictures then headed back home, but not before we picked up some celebratory food from Rosa's Cafe!!!
I am so proud of my little pageant princess!!!! She is now Queen Miss Menifee, and Princess Miss American Starlet!!! I love my little beauty queen!!!
