No more Pomegranates for Mia!!!!

Current mood:Greedy

I was so sad and depressed when Mexican Mango season ended. Then I realized its now Pomegranate season.... YIPPE!!!! So like everything in my life, I have been over indulging myself in my favorite fruits of the season. We found out that Cardenas sells them for a buck each!!! so of course we loaded up the cart with them.

I didn't plan on sharing with Mia, I didn't think she would like them anyways. Adrian kept telling me I should share, but I wanted to be greedy! Hey I am the Mommy I have a right to be greedy!!! Well after awhile I started to feel a bit guilty so I gave Mia a tiny seed to eat. To my surprise she LOVED it! She kept coming back to me for another seed. She ate one right after another with no problem. Soon our little bowl of pomegranates seeds was empty. I didn't mind feeding them to her since I know they are extremely healthy and full of anti-oxidants.

So today I thought I would treat her to some more. I opened up 4 more pomegranates and put them in a bowl. She knew right away what I was doing and waited for me to give her a seed. I gave her a couple of seeds and she danced around me while I was cleaning out the pomegranates. I gave her another seed and she was happy. Then it happened... she began to cough and coke! I didn't think much of it till she started to cough more and then started to gag! Oh No!!! I quickly stopped what I was doing and tended to her. She gagged so hard little tears were coming down her cheeks and she started crying. I comforted her but at the same time was trying to search her mouth with my finger to see if something was stuck in her teeth or mouth. Then she stopped and seemed to be ok.. then out of no where she started up again! First coughing then gaging. I searched the ground below her to see if she coughed up anything and I did see some speckles of red pomegranate juice along with a half eaten seed! Thats when I knew the seed was the culprit. It must have gotten suck in her throat or something. I had Adrian take her to the couch and lay her down while I took a flash light and checked her mouth again. Nothing was in there. She kept randomly coughing. I gave her some water but she didn't want it. So I gave her some cucumber (her new favorite veggie). I figured it was watery enough to dislodge anything (if anything) in her throat and soothe her. She ate it with no problem then drank some water and rested with Adrian on the couch.

I thought all was over, but I was WRONG! About 10 mins later she got up again from the couch coughing horribly with tears and trying to cough something up. I was in the restroom at the time and once I came out she was ok again. Then she started up again and was gagging. Adrian and I were both puzzled by her behavior. It didn't make sense, she wasn't sick, there was nothing in her mouth or throat and she would act fine right after. Then she tried throwing up a few more times. Thats when I realized I think she was just doing it for our reaction and attention. I figured she may also be forcing herself to gag and trying to make herself throw up because it was "something new" she hasn't done before. Kind of like learning a new trick. Once I realized that we stopped "babying" her so much and just let her do what she wanted. When she stopped getting a reaction from us, the coughing and gagging slowed down and eventually stopped altogether.

Wow what an ordeal. So that is why no more Pomegranates for Mia!!! I KNEW I shouldn't have shared in the first place!!!! haha
