*VIDEO* Mia playing "kitchen" 01-28-11
I was finally able to capture Mia pretending in her kitchen! Of course I had to hide the camera from her view haha
Week 133
Current Mood: Exhausted
Happy Friday! It's that time again! Too bad I am so exhausted I really am having a hard time getting motivated to write. But since all these blogs are a gift from me to Mia... I must keep going. Soooo tired. I didn't get good rest last night, then again when do I ever get good rest right? haha But Alex was up on and off and mix that in with Adrian's snoring that wakes me up out of a dead sleep doesn't help either. Alex is back asleep and I could sneak in a couple more hours of sleep but I have no where to do that. The livingroom is way to cold, I can't sleep in Alex's room because he will know I am there and wake up for awake time. Mia snores as well and I can't stand Adrian's snoring so I am stuck. Ah well... at least I have this blog to cheer me up right?
Well this has been one exhausting but exciting week. It started off with a trip to Mia's Nina and Nino's house for a visit with her cousins. It was Alex's first trip to Oxnard and other than a few crying incidents on the way home, he did really well. Mia had a blast with her cousins. She was center of their attention and ate it up. She even got a present from her Nina and Nino, a bubble train which she loves!!! She had lots of fun, but wasn't to much into the whole "sharing" concept, especially when it came to her beloved Sponge Bob balloon.. haha.
We have also decided to get her a hair cut. Her hair is just too wild and unmanagable now. It literally looks like its unkept regardless of how much I try to make it look nice. She refuses to allow me to put anything in her hair like rubber bands and stuff and just yanks them out or cries until they are out. Its awful. So when is the big day for her hair cut? Not sure, we are still trying to work out the details... hopefully soon.
She had a couple of adventures with her Daddy this week too. Once to the park and the other time to Orange County. She always enjoys some one on one time with her Dada and always comes home with new stories to tell. She also accompanied him to get his oil change at a near by tire shop. She got to ride her scooter around but had a small accident where she crashed into Adrian's leg and fell over. She scraped her knee a little bit but got right back up on her scooter and scooted along. What a champ!
Mia still loves to sing and we finally capture her singing "Shadow of the Day" by Lincoln Park! It is the cutest thing to hear her try to hard yet struggle. I know these days are so short lived so I am trying to enjoy them as much as I can, before I know it she will be belting out ballots like the best of them.
Well the main theme of this week is definately baby swings!!!! My Brother and Sis in Law gave us their baby swing to help with Alex. We already had a swing but Mia hated it as a baby and so does Alex. So when Alex accepted the new swing we jumped at taking it home with us. However, Mia didn't approve. She wanted the swing for herself and HER babies, so I brought out her old swing thinking she would use it for her babies but NOPE she uses it for herself!!! Good Grief that little girl is WAY to big for it and I know it will come crashing down any second but she really enjoys it and I don't have the heart to take it away from her just yet.
Since the baby swing has come into the house she has been playing Mama again with her baby dolls. She had stopped doing that for a long while now but is back at it. Its the cutest thing to watch her take care of her dolly like a Mama, she feeds him bottles (thankfully she no longer uses her belly button!), burps him, and calls him brother! Priceless!
The sticker monster has returned!!! Yep, she got ahold of a new pack of stickers and they ended up all on her. She put every single sticker all up her arm and only one arm! She was so decorated that it almost looked like she had a full tattoo sleeve! haha Sure enough, slowly by slowly the stickers ended up all over the house and I am still peeling them off the couch and under my feet!
Another big thing happened this week. She finally realized she can open her bedroom door by herself!!! Granted she has opened the guestroom door before, she never quite put two and two together and it was more of an accident. This time, after opening her door she got all excited and told Dada "I DID IT!!!" Luckily for us, I think she has forgotten about it because she hasn't done it again....yet....
One last amazing thing happened this week. She got a new Sponge Bob toy! (Well she has gotten a few from Daddy already since Burger King is selling them, but I am not talking about that). One morning she peeked outside and to her and my shock she found a brand new (with tags) Sponge Bob sitting under the window outside in the backyard! After getting it and closely inspecting it I found out it was brand new!!! WOW! I cleaned it up a bit and gave it to her and its her new best buddy! I still can't understand how it ended up back there in the first place.
Well thats about it for the week. My eyes are literally burning... I am so very tired. Maybe I will just suffer on the cold couch for a bit. I need sleep before I can start the day with the kids.. wish me luck!

Sponge Bob?!?! Where did you come from?!?!
Current Mood: Shocked
Ok I have no idea how this happened... the odds are sooooo HUGE!!! I am still dumbfounded by it all. I just had to write about it.
First some background....
Mia has been obsessed with Sponge Bob lately. We literally watch about 10 episodes a night.. back to back to back... She sleeps with a giant Sponge Bob in her bed at night, and she makes Daddy go to Burger King every Wednesday just so he could get her a new Sponge Bob Happy Meal toy (she now has 3). When Daddy took her to the grocery store she not only came home with Sponge Bob Gram Cracker cookies BUT a book that she carries around with her EVERYWHERE and makes me read it to her ALL the time. She recently also got a Sponge Bob balloon (one of those that never pop unless you really abuse them) and she takes that everywhere with her as well. So ya, she likes Sponge Bob.
I have let her have her way with her new obsession but I never ever EVER thought what happened today would happen. A Sponge Bob appeared out of thin air! She found it and now its her new favorite toy!!! What?!?! I know!
Heres what happened...
I was in Alex's room with Mia. He just woke up from a nap and I had him on the changing table. We were all hanging out in the room together listening to music and having fun. Mia was bouncing on the bed and I was tickling Alex. Then Mia opened the blinds to the window and looked out like she always does. All of a sudden with sheer panic in her voice she said "Oh No!!! Mama!!! Sponge Bob Outside!!!" I thought for sure she was just pretending, but the urgency in her voice made me check things out anyway. I peaked out the window and to my utter most shock.. she was right.. Sponge Bob WAS outside!!! There was a small, brand new (with tags I might add) Sponge Bob toy just laying there right under the window on the ground!!! What the heck!?!?!? "Mia your right!!! Lets go get him". I went to the kitchen and out the sliding glass door and into the backyard. I couldn't believe it, I thought for sure it would be all nasty, tore up, and smelly but when I got to it and picked it up I realized it was brand new and in mint condition! I sniffed it and it smelled new! I looked it over and no weather damage at all! From the tag it looked like it was only out there maybe a day or two at the most! So I dusted off the tiny bites of dirt and weeds and brought it inside to Mia. She was so excited and wanted it right away. I then cleaned it up as best as I could, gave it one last sniff test and handed it to Mia. She was so happy! She thanked me and carried that little guy around with her the rest of the morning. Laying it on the couch next to her, she made him watch TV... she fed him and even took him upstairs to wake up Daddy in the morning.
Now I have been trying to figure out how in the heck Sponge Bob ended up in our backyard. I know it HAD to have come from the neighbors house next door, but how? why?? Did they throw it over? Did their little girl (who is only a few months older than Mia) throw it over? and if she did she must have an arm of a major leaguer because it was really far from the fence. Oh well... I guess I will never truly know..... instead I will just chalk it up to it being a Magical Sponge Bob...

"I Did It!" Oh No!!!
Current Mood: Scared
The time has come... Mia has finally learned how to open her bedroom door! Dun..dun.. dunnnn... OH NO! I have been waiting for this day to come for awhile now. I was really hoping she would learn AFTER we moved out of this house so I wouldn't have to worry about her tumbling down the stairs at night. Oh well. We have been stalling this milestone for awhile now, as long as we could. We have purposely hidden the way we open her door just so she wouldn't figure it out. She has opened other doors in the house before but it was always by accident. I don't think she really realized how she did it... until today.
Daddy went to get her up from her nap and she was anxiously awaiting to get out of the room. After getting her ready to leave, Adrian asked "You ready to go?" "GO!!" she said as she jumped off her bed ran to her door, twisted the knob and opened the door... "I DID IT!!!" She said all excitedly!!! When she came downstairs she couldn't wait to tell me about it.
So its official... hopefully she will forget by bedtime... I doubt it. I guess its times to bust out those door knob safety handles I bought almost a year ago!
The Sticker Monster
Current Mood: Amused
Today Mia accompanied her Daddy to the tire shop to get his oil changed. While they were waiting, she rode her scooter to the nearby Carl's Jr. where they shared a little lunch together. She got a happy meal that came with a prize! A little coloring book and a sheet of stickers. Daddy told her not to open the stickers until we got home, so you better believe as soon as she walked in the door she ran to me to open her prize! haha
I opened it and showed her the coloring book. She could care less about that and wanted the stickers. So I took those out and out came the Mia Sticker Monster! RAWR! She had them all up her arm until there was no more space to place another sticker!

Mia singing "Shadow of the Day" again! 01-25-11
The only way I could capture her singing was to hide the camera
Mia reads to her Brother
Mia is really good to her brother. She rarely gets jealous or mean with him, infact I have yet to see her get mean with him at all. Though she does not always share with him, sometimes she will do something completely out of the blue and totally cute... today was no exception.
I put Alex down on the floor for awhile because he was being so fussy and Mia got all excited. She put her new little Sponge Bob toy next to him, took out her Sponge Bob book and started to read to him! It didn't last long but I did manage to capture a few pictures... PRICELESS!
Mia is playing Mama again
Current Mood: Amused
Just when I thought she gave up on her little baby doll shes back at it. No no no thankfully she's not feeding her "other brother" with her belly button, she is actually using a tiny baby bottle now. It is really cute to watch her play Mama. She talks to her little doll, tries to put him (though hes wearing pink she still calls him brother) to sleep, feeds him his bottle and now that we have a new swing, she puts him in there too and sometimes even covers him with Alex's blanket. It is so adorable to watch her. I try so hard to capture her playing on video but as soon as she sees me with the camera she gets MAD and stops. I did capture a few seconds though so you can get the idea.... such a cute little Mama...

Finally Mia likes her swing but its a bit too late
Current Mood: Tired
Right before Mia was born her Nina and Nino bought her a really expensive and cute little baby swing for her babyshower. I fell in love with it when I was researching swings and everyone had high reviews for it. It had little bears on it and everything, I thought it would be perfect since it was neutral enough for the next baby (yes I was even thinking of future babies while I was pregnant with Mia). Well we got the swing home and I put it together right away... all big and pregnant. Soon Mia was born and big enough for it. I was so happy to put her in and excited... but she wasn't. Infact she HATED the swing so much and would scream and cry bloody murder whenever I put her in it. So unfortunately, it got little to no use at all. I didn't stress to much since I knew we would eventually have another baby.
Well along came Alex and into the swing he went... and he too HATED it! He screamed and cried hysterically whenever he was in it and wouldn't last long swinging at all. I couldn't understand it! All babies love swings.. what are wrong with my kids!?!!
Well we made a trip to Oxnard this past weekend and there Alex tried out his cousin April/Sophia's old swing. Sophia just recently outgrew the swing so when Alex actually liked it and slept in it, his Auntie and Uncle gave it to us! YAY!!!
I set it up while Alex was napping! Right away Mia fell in love with it and ran over to it holding her baby doll. She kept putting her doll in the swing and swinging it around then taking it out then putting it back in. She was so excited. Then Alex woke up and I put him in the swing. Mia blew up! She was so upset!!! I thought it was because I took out her baby doll to put Alex in it, so I went and grabbed her old swing from the other room. Right away Mia said "Mia's Swing!!!! YAY!!!" I thought she would put her baby in it but no SHE went right in it!! I tried to stop her because she is WAY to big for the swing and will break it but she was so excited to be able to swing next to her brother in HER swing. Sigh... what am I to do! Oh well... so I let her. Now shes glued to the swing and is ALWAYS in it! I try to get her to be gentle with it because I know she will break it but she still manages to swing really hard in it! So much for selling it... I know its just a manner of time before she busts it. But it is her swing after all and at least its finally getting some use! haha besides... there is something really cute watching her swing next to her brother.
A fun day with Daddy in the OC
Current Mood: Tired
Good Morning! I just HAD to write about the little adventure Mia and Dada had yesterday in Orange County. I couldn't write yesterday because it was such a crazy day and Mia came home more rambuncious that ever... so here I am at 7am right after feeding Alex. The only little spot of free time I have.
Anyway, Adrian is building a computer for his cousin's job so he had to pick up some parts in Orange County. I guess there was a store out there selling a vital part for $100 cheaper than anywhere else. So he decided to take Mia with him. THANK GOONESS because she was a handful in the morning. She was still pretty tried from the day before (we visited her cousins and Nina/Nino in Oxnard). So I had no problem letting her go, infact I got her ready really early and really fast to help get her out of the house quicker! haha
All that was left were her shoes and she wanted NO part in wearing socks. I tried working with her left and right and nothing worked. I even threatened a Pow Pow but she didn't care. She didn't like the "strings" that were in the socks. I guess there were a few strings inside that were from the design outside. She cried and cried and I finally just let her take them off and would have Adrian put them back on when they go to the store. I figured the excitement of the store and being out would overshadow her "string" obsession... (as you will later read.. it didn't work)
He told me that when they left she slept most of the way in the car. Once they finally made it to the store he got her off and put her shoes and socks on. Of course she remembered about the strings and cried about them again. She REFUSED to walk and wanted to be held the whole time! Poor Adrian had to carry her around the store with him.. and for anyone who knows Mia knows shes not feather! Whenever he put her down she would only last 30 seconds... walk all funny complaining about her "strings" in her socks and demand to be picked up. Sigh...
After they bought what they needed Adrian brought out her scooter. He figured she could get some riding in. So she was happy about that and scooted around near the store. Once she was scooting along she forgot all about the strings in her feet. Infact when she was done and back in the car she didn't even want to take off her shoes!!!
On the ride back towards home they decided to stop by a Mexican Restaurant called "Miguels". They serve really good food there. So Mia and Adrian shared a dinner together. She must have been starving because she ate a TON which is really rare for Mia. She ate her quesadilla, some chips, a tiny bit of chicken and steak, another tortilla and some other stuff. She even had her very first Horchata and liked it! The waitress fell in love with her and when she came by to check on them Mia was almost done with her quesadilla. Mia said "Mmm... like it!" and the waitress asked Adrian "Did she just say Gracias?" Adrian said "No she said she liked it" then all of a sudden Mia looks up and says "Gracias!" haha too cute!
After dinner they got back in the car and headed home. Mia decided to sing her favorite Lincoln Park song in the car "Shadow of the Day" on the top of her lungs, and made Adrian repeat the song over and over again.. of course.
Once they got home Mia was excited to tell me all about her day but was really wound up! I think it was because of the horchata or something because she was soon out of control. She was like that all the way till bedtime when she finally crashed.
Overall the day was fun for them. I got alot of little projects done that I wanted to get done here at home and spent some quality time with Alex so it was a nice day for me too. I can't wait to see what their next adventure will be.

Great Visit at Nina and Nino's House
To Alex From Sarah
To Mia from Sarah
To Mia from Tracy
From Sarah to Auntie Angie and Uncle Adrian
Good Morning everyone! Wow what a great visit to Oxnard we just had. Granted it went alittle fast since we did a quick turn around... we still all managed to squeak out TONS of fun.
Yesterday we went to my Brother and Sister-in-Law's house so Mia could have fun with her cousins, Alex could hang out, we could see all my beautiful nieces and we could visit with my Brother and Lauren one last time before we moved even further away. Though Alex is a bit younger that I would like to have him be before making such a big trip... it was well worth it.
The trip has been planned for awhile but when was always up in the air depending on if we had a free (home searching free) weekend. When it looked like this weekend was one of those weekends we jumped at the chance to drive down.
So Adrian worked from home Friday night so he could go to bed earlier so we could have a bright and early jump start on the day. We planned on setting out at 10:30am but you know with kids that NEVER happens. We ended up heading out an hour behind schedule. I made sure Alex was topped off and of course after spitting up on me we were good to go. Mia was alittle cranky but not to bad she was excited. All she kept talking about were her cousins and for days she has been calling all these girls "Tracy!" haha. Infact when I woke her up in the morning I said "We are going to have fun today" and she replied "We are going to see Cousins!!!".
Well once everything was packed in the car we were good to go. I decided to drive (which was the first time since before Mia was born!). I felt pretty good since Alex gave me a good night the night before. We stopped off at the gas station first, then grabbed a quick bite to eat at Carls Jr. and off on our adventure we went.
Alex didn't like being in his car seat so of course he screamed and cried until we hit the freeway but once we got going he actually slept 98% of the time!!! YAY! Mia also too a VERY long nap so that was cool too. Once we hit Oxnard though, Alex woke up MAD! and cried and cried. Mia also woke up but she was happy and tried to calm down her brother who was sitting next to her.
On the way to my brother's house we stopped by a Mexican Market to pick up some Carne Asada for a BBQ. We have never been there before and the place was PACKED! So jammed that I had to park across the street at the school district's parking lot. Alex was still screaming his head off and very hungry so I decided to feed him in the car while Adrian and Mia went inside the store. I tried as hard as I could to be hidden from view that I even put up the sun visor shield I still had in the car from the days I used to work! haha Alex however had no part of eating and fought me most of the time. I think he missed his soft pillow he lays on! picky kid! haha Eventually I filled him up and he was happy again. It wasn't long before Adrian and Mia came back and she was all happy holding a brand new Sponge Bob Balloon!
We got in the car and off we went to my Brothers house. Eventually we made it and unloaded the kids. Mia wouldn't let go of her balloon so she brought it with her. We were greeted at the door by my oldest Niece Tracy (11), then Sarah (8) and April (3). Baby Sophia (1) was in the back room watching her Gabba show. They were so excited to see Mia who wasted no time and dove right into their toys... and they were gushing over baby Alex who was just hanging out in his car seat.
Once we made it in Alex wanted up so I took him out just as his Uncle Jay came in the room. He was so excited to see him and held him right away. Mia also went up to him and said hi to her Nino (which I was surprised since she is usually shy) and gave him a big hug.
Adrian and I unloaded the car and visited for a bit. Thats when Sophia made her appearance and had NOTHING to do with us. She screamed and cried and was scared for awhile. She really gets shy around people she doesn't know or doesn't see often. Unfortunately that means us. So she hung out in the other room for awhile with her older sister Sarah. My brother then made a quick stop at the store to pick up more odds and ends for the BBQ while we watched the kids. Soon Sophia decided to be brave... thanks to her big sis Sarah and finally warmed up to us! YAY!!!! It was so cute to have ALL the kids in the room playing... it was a mad house! All 6 Grandkids running around everywhere... well not Alex but he was still there. Then it happened... everyone wanted to play with her Sponge Bob balloon and Mia was not happy about this. We kept trying to get her to share but she didn't like it... eventually she let her baby cousin play with it as long as she got some other toys to play with instead. Turns out most of the visit was a battle with that darn balloon! haha
Anyway, then Alex got hungry AGAIN so I took him to the girls room and fed him. He was a bit fussy. Then Auntie Lauren showed up from work. I quickly got Alex ready and took him out. She just melted and couldn't stop holding him. He was totally digging it and hanging out. Mia was no where to be seen, she had ran off to her cousin April's room (her best buddy) and was thrashing it with toys and having so much fun.
My brother soon returned and the BBQ got underway. Alex became a bit fussy again because he was so tired but we couldn't get him to sleep. Thats when Auntie Lauren put him in the magical baby swing they have. I say magical because it works wonders on babies. I didn't think he would like it since he HATES our swing at home but to my surprise he loved it!!! He liked it so much he went right to sleep! YAY! Since Sophia just recently outgrew it they decided to give it to Alex! DOUBLE YAY!!!! It has been in the family since April so its now a family hierloom haha
Mia had so much fun with ALL her cousins. She was showed with attention and was drown in toys. She couldn't be happier. She was all over the place getting into everything and screaming and laughing. I would check on her every now and then and she was always doing something fun in her cousin's room. Either jumping on her bed, playing with her doll house or emptying all the toys in her toy box on the floor! But her cousins were right there having fun with her. This is exactly why we made the trip... for her to have fun and get some bonding time in with her cousins.
Soon the food was ready but Alex wanted to eat himself. So off I went to feed him again. I came back and hung out a while until everyone was done eating and my Brother took Alex from me to hang out with him for while. I finally got to eat and OMG the food was amazing!!! SOOO GOOD! I stuffed myself to where I could barely breathe! haha Mia on the other hand was being her picky self and we had to end up giving her oatmeal for dinner which she barely ate. All she wanted to go was get down and run around with her cousins and fight to get her balloon back.
Alex just hung out on his Uncle's lap watching TV until he got hungry... again. So I fed him and put him back in the swing for another nap. He did so good. Once he was good to go again, Auntie Lauren said she had a surprise for him and Mia! So we brought them to the livingroom and thats where Alex opened up his gift... his very first baseball hat and a cute little outfit!!!! Awww!! The hat fit perfectly and he looked so cute in it. Then it was Mia's turn and she opened up the coolest little train ever! It was a Hello Kitty train that made train sounds and ran on its own all while blowing bubbles! Mia went nuts!!! Then the cutest thing happened, Tracy and Sarah both made homemade cards and pictures for Mia, Alex and Us!!! So we opened them.. they were so cute!!
After thanking everyone (boy we are all so spoiled!) Mia took off to play with her new train. Once Nina got it all running and filled with bubbles ALL the little ones crowded around to watch it. The little train made noise and blew bubbles everywhere and Mia went NUTS! "Bubbles!" she kept saying and she was running around, chasing it, popping bubbles and dancing! It was adorable! Sophia and April also were screaming with excitement and running around too.
After visiting a bit longer it was getting late and almost time to go. Alex was extremely fussy and I couldn't calm him down. Finally I decided to change his diaper and thats when he gave me the biggest smile and attempted to pee on me!!!! He missed but he wet his jammies bad! OH NO! Luckily I was prepared for just this thing and put a nice new pair of dry jammies on him. He was all happy about this and hung out awhile longer so his Auntie Lauren and older cousins could bond with him more... he was loving it.
Mia was back in April's room with April playing like crazy. At one point I snuck in the room and found them both sharing April's bed. I asked her "Mia you going Night Night with your cousin?!" she said "No!" and quickly sat up, then April said "we are just pretending!" haha I guess "night night" is a bad word with them haha. So I let them be. I later found Mia again cuddling on the couch with her cousin Sarah. They were both just laying there relaxing as Sarah was rubbing her head and singing to her. Mia was eating it up! she loved all the attention.
Soon Sophia was getting tired. She was also getting really jealous about all the attention Alex was getting from her Mama and Daddy and was NOT happy about that. She kept trying every way she could to regain their attention. She acted silly, pulled on their clothes and ran around. When nothing worked she finally resorted to fake crying! Yes I said fake! it was the cutest thing. Eventually Alex started to really cry and we had both babies crying at the same time in stereo! haha So Lauren fixed her a bottle and I got to finally hold her as I carried her off to bed. It was so nice to finally be able to hold my youngest niece. She didn't mind only because she was busy drinking her bottle and I just loved it. After she went down I was back to tending to Alex who was being a bit fussy.
Soon it was time to go. So we said all our sad goodbyes. After taking some group pictures (which someone was always making a face in and poor Sophia was in bed) Alex started to get cranky again. So we loaded up the car and off we went back home. Unfortunately, the drive home didn't go as smoothly with Alex as we would have hoped. He cried ALOT in the car but despite all the screaming he never woke up his sister who was knocked out next to him holding her Sponge Bob balloon in her hand haha.
Once we got home Adrian took Mia to bed while I took Alex to his room, fed him and laid him down. We were both EXHAUSTED and went to bed ourselves.
Wow what a great visit! I wish we lived closer to each other so we could visit more, but we had fun anyway. I am so glad we were able to pull it off and the kids got to have fun... especially Mia who didn't want to go home. We will have to get together again real soon and have a nice LONG visit.... maybe when we are finally back in Sunny San Diego!
