and finally... Week 52!

Current mood: happy

Well the day is finally here... she is officially 52 weeks old today, and tomorrow she will be 1 years old! Wow, such an exciting time! I can't wait till tomorrow but at the same time I am alittle saddened... despite all my efforts, Mia will contiune to grow up and my little baby is slipping ever so slowly away from me. =( but thats ok, I enjoy every min. of watching her grow up.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy busy busy day. We are leaving to Oxnard this afternoon and I am on the run trying to finish up any last min. things that need to be taken care of, not to mention all the pack and preparing for our 3 day trip! So hopefully I will be able to write one last blog before her birthday, just for my own reflection on motherhood the first year. We will see if I can squeeze in time for that.

Ok enough with all that, now is time to talk about this week! She started it off by celebrating her very first 4th of July. I didn't have to many things to dress her up to celebrate so I had to improvise a bit, but it all worked out. She loved holding her two little flags I bought her and we even got to see a few fireworks. She did good at the fireworks show, she didn't get scared, however she really didn't care about them either. She wanted to be put down so she could walk around in the grass. haha

I also cut my hair this week, in honor of my Aunt Terri. I am donating it to a organization that makes wigs for adults with cancer. Mia didn't seem to realize my hair cut until a few days later. Before my hair went down to the middle of my butt, now its to my shoulders. My hair is naturally curly so its really spingy now. She finally noticed it yesterday when I went to pick her up. She just stared at my hair with these big eyes! She turned her head and looked at the other side, shocked! It was really cute.

Now onto the big news! She is in the process of retiring her bottle completely!!! Recently, she has started refusing to finish her bottle and while drinking it she gets fruterated with it and either hands it to me or throws it at me. I think she is liking her sippy cups more because of the flow. Yesterday was her first milestone, she went the entire day without her bottle! This morning I tried to give her a bottle after breakfast just so I could cuddle her (something she never let me do anymore) but it didn't go to well. She kept handing it back to me and eventually just refused it altogether. Its a bitter sweet thing, I am happy she is no longer wanting the bottle so breaking her from it will be cake, but at the same time I will miss holding her and feeding her the bottle. Sigh... another growing pain for Mama. Haha We plan on introducing her milk next week after her party is over. Not sure how she will react to it, so its better we do it while we are at home.

Her and I went to the park across the street this week to. It finally cooled off enough to go outside (Around 5pm) so I took her to the park and let her walk around in the grass. She went NUTS! Freedom!!! haha She even tried to run! She loved just going around and picking up dead leaves and walking where ever she wanted to.

We tried to make Daddy a special birthday gift with finger paints and that went horribly wrong. It turned into a big blue/purple paint disaster! We got a few paintings out of it but I think we will end up giving him something else for his birthday haha

Well thats about it, I have to cut this alittle short since I have to finish getting things ready for our trip. I am sure you will hear from me again this weekend, wish us luck!!!!
