My Angel turned 1!

Current mood: relaxed

We all have been running around for weeks now in preparation for Mia’s first big event. Her first birthday party in Oxnard. Adrian took 5 days off from work to help. Granted Monday will be his 29th birthday, he still wanted to make sure he could spend tons of time with the little birthday girl.

Well we left our house by noon Friday. I decided to drive in order to give Adrian a break since she worked all week. The drive was nice I had not driven to Oxnard since before she was born! So it had been a while. She did great in the car, and even took a short nap. Things were going well till we hit the other side of Moorpark. (2 hours later) Then she got alittle restless and it was time to pull off and stretch our legs. I pulled off at a Taco Bell, Daddy changed her and pulled her out of the car. He walked her to shade and trees while I used the restroom in Taco Bell. When I came out he said, the cutest thing happened. He was holding Mia who was holding two tiny leaves (she LOVES leaves). Then a van slowed down and eventually stopped in front of them (they were going to go into the drive thru) The windows rolled down and there was a husband and wife. They just had to stop and complement on how cute Mia was. Both of them gushed over Mia and asked how old she was. Both melted when Adrian proudly said she will be 1 tomorrow. After awhile they left and that’s about the time I came out. Wow Mia not even 1 already stopping traffic with her cuteness haha

After our break we drove home and was greeted by Grandpa Pizano, who didn’t even really say hi to us but instead rushed to Mia and picked her up and gave her big hugs. We all hung out for a bit and I cooked her some fresh beans and unloaded all her packed food. At first she was shocked by everything and refused to walk. She would just stand there motionless and just looked around with her eyes. We tried everything to get her to warm up but she refused. She warmed up when SHE wanted to warm up and eventually was walking ALL over the house. I later gave her a bath in the bathtub and let her roam around some more. She tortured Slyvester (my parents fuzzy cat) a bit and just had fun. Eventually it was time for bed (3 hours past her bedtime) and I put her to bed in the spare room. That’s when she decided to blow up! She cried and cried like she never has before. So Daddy went in for the rescue. He took her over and I walked out of the room and closed the door. He worked his Daddy magic and eventually calmed her down enough where she laid down on her own and started to fall asleep. He walked out and off to dreamland she went. That’s when the work started, I put together her grab bags for her party as Daddy filled up her GIANT number 1 Pinata.

Then at a min. to midnight I snuck in the room. She was sleeping soundly in her playpen. I wanted to be with her at the stroke of midnight and at the exact moment she would turn one. Grandpa also walked in. We looked at his watch and counted down the seconds… 5..4….3…..2….1! BAM! She was 1! I quietly sang her Happy Birthday, kissed my hand and gently touched her head. My little girl is officially 1 years old and she turned 1 in the very same house her Mama did!

We later went to bed and slept alittle till about 5:30. That’s when her Grandpa and I got up and got things ready for the park. He left first with the tables and some chairs, I left later with the rest of the chairs. We went to the park set everything up and that is where I am right now. Waiting to be relieved by Adrian so I can go home and get things ready. I can’t wait for another few hours so we can get this party started!! I am sure I will write ALL about her big day. Right now it just feels like the calm before the storm.. I think I will sit back and enjoy it a bit.
