and now its week 51!!

Current mood: animated

One week down, one more to go! Then Mia will officially be 1 years old!!! She never ceases to amaze me, and this week was no exception. She started new things and we had little adventures.

We started this week sizzling! The heat of summer is finally upon us and everyday has been in the 100s in this area.. yuk!! However, I thought before the heat really set in we could quickly do a few errunds. So off to babies r us and khols we went, and thought we bought some really cool stuff (her bday dress, a pool, and a big bag of balls) it wasn't without its price. It hit record high for the heat for that day (it reached 110!!!! in our area!) so ya we got alittle toasted, but it was still fun going out.

A big thing happened this week as well, she popped out tooth #5!!!!! It is the top left one next her her front teeth! No wonder she was a little cranky. It has been on the verge for awhile but finally decided to break through. Hmmm... I wonder what tooth will be next?

This week just wouldn't be normal without a disaster story, so here it is. Mia fell out of her crib this week. Shes ok, she didnt get hurt. I raised her side bar all the way up to help prevent this from happening again... so far its working.

And the last big thing she did this week is learn to drink from a straw!!!! Thats right, after the advice from her "Auntie" Mel and friend Baby Abby.. she mastered the art in just one day. I bought her a special sippy with a straw and once she got the hang of drinking from that, I moved on to a tiny juice box. The juice box took more practice but she eventally got it and started chucking the juice!!! She isnt a juice fan so seeing her do this was a treat! (Though I think we will still keep her on formula and water now, since we are fortunate enough to even have her drinking water) But now I can at least give her a juice box treat every now and then. YAY!

Well I am off to start my day. Big news will happen today as well, I will finally find out if I get my 1st real nephew or another niece to add to my beautful collection!!! I am sure I will write more tomorrow since it will be her first 4th of July!!

------------------------------ UPDATE -------------------------

Mia is bilingual!! haha, she said her first spanish word. Agua (water)! We want her to learn spanish along with english, so with certain things we will tell her the english and spanish name for it (ie. avocado, aguagate... watermelon, sandia ... and water, agua)

I have been really working with her to learn the spanish word for water since I think it is pretty easy to pronounce (aa-waa) Whenever I offer her sippy or see if shes thirsty I ask her if she wants her Agua. Well today she FINALLY repeated me!!! After drinking from her sippy I said "agua" and she immediatly said "aa-waa" YAY! I tried to get her to do it again but everytime I say the word she has to drink. She already drank alot of water already and I didn't want her to get sick so I stopped. I will try again this afteroon when it really warms up. YAY!!! Mia is bilingual! haha
