The Day After Mia’s Party…

Current mood: sleepy

Phew, we just got home a couple of hours ago and I am trying to get some last min. things prepared for tomorrow and for her big day at Disneyland. I am beat but before I go to bed I wanted to write a quick blog about her special day today.

We all slept in after that fun day yesterday, but the adventure wasn’t over. After breakfast she played with her Grandpa and Grandma Pizano for a bit. I dressed her in one of her new dresses she got for her birthday (of course after Grandma washed it first) and we headed off to her Great Grandpa Ordonez’s house. She has never met him before, and he’s always wanted to see her. He is almost 90 years old and is very sick. He can no longer leave his bed and has caretakers that are with him 24/7. So meeting him for the first time was special. Walking into the house I practically grew up, with Mia was something else. I have rarely set foot in the house since my Grandma passed way in Nov. of 1999 so it was alittle hard at first but Mia helped me through it. My Mom and I went into the room where my Grandpa was and she finally got to meet her oldest living relative. His eyes lit up as he saw her for the first time and reached out his hand to touch hers. Mia on the other hand was so overwhelmed by everything that she froze up and didn’t want to touch him or even let me put her down. We tried to show him how she walks but she just stood there. She just did her famous Mia stare and eventually let her Great Grandpa touch her hand. After playing with her a bit I finally managed a tiny smile out of her before we left, at least he got to see that. Overall the visit was special and nice and I am glad I made some time to do that.

Then it was off to the store for a special early birthday surprise for her Daddy. Her Grandma Pizano and I shopped around and bought a special chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, balloon and card for him. We even ran into her other Great Grandpa at the store!!! He was so happy to see Mia again and after a quick chat it was time to go home.

After pulling up at home I ran off the car and shooed Adrian into the room. We set up his cake and surprise on the kitchen table and with the help of Mia (who was leading the way) I walked him into the room and we all surprised him! YAY! We sang Happy Birthday to him and he blew out his candy with Mia’s help. It was so much fun.

So after visiting a bit more it was getting late and finally time to go home. We loaded up the car and said our goodbyes to her Grandparents, and off to home we went. She knocked out literally blocks from the house and didn’t wake up until we were about an hour away from home. Then she got alittle whiney but I managed to keep her under control with some blueberries (her favorite). Once we got home we unloaded the car, let Mia play a bit then it was off to bed she went. Phew… what a day…

Ok I am literally dragging now and I need some rest. I just had to write something about her special day, especially since she got to see both her Great Grandpa’s in one day. What a treat! Well I am off to bed.. I am still nursing my horrific sunburn and my face is starting to itch again and is driving me nuts!
