Current Mood: Amused
Today we took an unplanned trip to the Lake Elsinore Outlets. Mia has been in dire need of some winter clothes and since she is growing like a weed lately she has grown out of all her old clothes. We planned on going to the outlets and stocking her up again, but had not picked a specific day to go yet.
Since today was pretty warm and Mia was to wired to take an afternoon nap we decided to go today and go as a family. I have been going stir crazy lately and was missing our family trips so we decided to chance taking the baby out.
Again we really didn't plan on going and it was such a spur of the moment decision that Alex was still asleep when we were ready to go. I had to wake him up which didn't make him to happy AT ALL! He was screaming and crying the whole time I was getting him ready. Mia on the other hand couldn't wait to go "outside" and was ready to go in no time.
Soon we loaded up the car and off we went on our little family adventure. Alex screamed and cried the entire time until we reached the parking lot where he finally fell asleep. Mia also knocked out about the same time! So we ended up having to wake both kids up. Once we arrived we got Alex off the car and into the stroller then came Mia. I pushed the baby in the stroller while Adrian held Mia's hand and walked with her.
We read a sign that said Santa was there so we decided that we would go see him after we were done shopping. We only really needed to hit one store since we always buy the bulk of her clothes there. It was Carter's. When we went into the store there weren't any shoppers there so we had the store to ourselves. We set up Mia at their little toy area for kids (That area was in full view from anywhere in the store so we felt safe plus we kept checking on her ever 2 seconds! haha) and shopped. We bought so many clothes for her, 5 sets of jammies, 4 shirts, and two pairs of jeans and 1 pair of shoes! We weren't planning on the shoes but she has been complaining about her current shoes. She refuses to keep them on and says they "hurt". They are a bit small on her but we already bought her some princess shoes for Christmas and were hoping she would be able to hold out till then, but when she took off her shoes in the store and refused to put them back on we knew we had to buy her some right then and there. So we found the CUTEST shoes ever, they light up when you walk!!! Mia fell in love with them and so did I. So despite the high price we opted to buy them anyways. We got them 1 size too big so she could grow into them after her princess shoes get some good use.
After paying for all our items, Mia got to wear her new shoes out the door. She was so happy and loved to stomp so she could watch them light up. After we left the store we walked to the end of the mall to check out their HUGE Christmas tree! Mia was so excited to see the tree that she could barely keep herself from running towards it. She kept saying "Oh WOW!" to all the decorations. Once we got there we let her touch it and check out the lights. After we were done looking at the tree we decided to stop by the area where Santa was. She was so excited to see Santa until she actually saw him...
Once we walked in the door (they had Santa in an empty store room) she froze up in Daddy's arms. She refused to talk or move. The classic Mia stared came out (I have not seen that in so long) and she did not look happy. We tried everything to get Mia to warm up but she just stared with that fixed gaze, so we left. Once we left the store, not even seconds later, she started getting all excited again about seeing Santa. Talk about confusing!! She acted like she was best buddies with Santa and not scared at all, we couldn't understand it. All she would talk about was Santa this.. and Santa that! We walked a bit more then decided to come back to show her Santa again, only because he was hanging outside the door now and greeting some kid. So we walked Mia back and as soon as she got close to Santa she clammed up again! After Santa said his goodbyes to the kid ahead of her, Santa said Hi to Mia! Mia just stared and stuck to Daddy like glue. Then Adrian told Mia to give Santa a hug so she reluctantly did, it was the cutest thing ever. Then we said our goodbyes and walked away. As soon as she got out of sight of Santa she came alive again! She was so excited about "Santa Hug" and thats ALL she talked about over and over! Infact she was still talking about it when I put her to bed.
After the Santa visit we went to the Chocolate Factory to buy some candy apples. Mia got a chocolate covered marshmellow and she seemed to like it but she was more interested in the M&Ms they had. After we got our treats we headed back to the car and back home. Mia still wouldn't stop talking about Santa so we told her we would see him again tomorrow when we take pictures with him. Shes all happy about that.
So the first Santa meeting of the year didn't quite go as hoped but at least she didn't cry! I have a feeling her picture with Santa tomorrow isn't going to go well either... well keep your fingers crossed for us!
