Grandpa Pizano Visit

Current mood: thankful

Grandpa Pizano came down to help out this week. I have to take my gestational diabetes test this week so I needed help with Mia. When my Dad offered to come down to help, of course I jumped at the chance.

MONDAY:
I originally planned to have my 3 hour test done Tuesday morning so my Dad came into town late Monday evening. Mia was still up and was so happy to see my Dad when he walked into the door. She wasn’t shy at all, and infact ran up to hug him. They played for awhile and she showed him her new favorite toy. A little farm with farm animals she got for her birthday. She also made me put on “Queen” so she could dance around and sing! Then before bedtime, we went to change her diaper on the bed in the guestroom. She went NUTS! Her and her Grandpa were playing and playing and she was jumping like crazy. My Dad said he was trying to wear her out but she never pooped out! I warned him Mia is like the energizer bunny, she keeps going and going and going and never stops! Soon she wore out Grandpa and off to bed she went.

Her Grandpa put her to bed, and he said that she DEMANDED he sing to her over and over and tried to kick him a lot. Eventually she settled down enough to go to sleep.. but it did take awhile.

TUESDAY:
The next day we all got up bright and early and headed off to the lab. Mia was still in her jammies! My Dad and Mia dropped me off and I went inside. Unfortunately, there was a scheduling error and I couldn’t get my test done.. ARGH! So I had to call up my Dad to come pick me up again. Poor Mia was just done with her breakfast and was ready to watch some TV when she was put back into the car and back to the lab she went.

After getting picked up I felt really sick, so the first thing I did was run inside the house and eat! Mia was in a good mood and was playing with Grandpa. I cooked some food then started to organize and pack up Mia’s room while Grandpa watched her downstairs. They watched cartoons together, played with her farm and jumped around… well Mia did the jumping. I could hear her laughs coming from downstairs it was so cute.

Oh I almost forgot to mention, during nap time ....Adrian.... put her to bed. She refused to settle down and he eventually had to leave. He stayed outside her room in the tech center working on something and he said he could hear her scratching on her door. He didn’t think to much about it. Well when I went to get her up almost 2 hours later, I opened the door and felt someone blocking it!!! I closed it and opened it slowly again and again something was blocking it. I peeked around the side and saw Mia’s legs sprawled out on the floor! For an instant I panicked something was wrong, I quickly called her “Mia! Mia!” She slowly moved then laid back down, I told her to get up so I could come I and eventually she moved enough to let me squeeze by. I sat down on the floor next to her. She was barely waking up. I asked her why was she sleeping on the floor!!!! (she had her blankey with her too) she just lifted her head rested it in my lap and rested there for a bit. I rubbed her head for awhile until she fully woke up then we went downstairs together to finish the rest of the day. Silly girl!

My Dad also got a first hand experience on how bossy Mia is becoming. If she was jumping on the bed and he got up to leave she would demand for him to go “night night” which means to lay down, and she pointed at the bed. She refused to let him leave. Later if my Dad got up she would get mad and demand he “sit down”! she would following him everywhere demanding he “sit down” and get mad until she did! Yep shes one bossy girl just like her Mama! haha

Later in the evening she started to get tired and moody, she refused to eat dinner so we knew it was time for bed. So we changed her diaper and again she went nuts jumping on the bed! After a good bounce work out Grandpa put her to bed. It didn’t take long before she fell back asleep.

WEDNESDAY:
This was a very busy and tiring day for me. I had to take my 3 hour glucose test which was NOT any fun. My Dad took me to the lab at 7:30am and stayed with me for the first hour. Mia was asleep with ....Adrian.... at home. When my Dad made it back home and checked on her, she was standing behind her door. She gave him a mean look as if to say “where were you!? I have been awake a long time now!” haha He got her up, fed her breakfast and later the two of them picked me up at the doctor’s office.

Mia was so happy to see me, my Dad said she kept saying “Mama? Mama?” a lot and lit up when she finally saw me come out of the building. I love my little baby so much!

I was STARVING to say the least so my Dad took me to my favorite sandwhich place, submarina and I scarfed down a pepper turkey sandwhich like nothing.

The rest of the day was spent recovering. I was NOT feeling well at all from all that I went through so Mia spent extra time with Grandpa! They both had fun watching TV, playing and going nuts. Later that night my Dad attempted to wear her out by letting her bounce as much as she wanted on the guestbed. He didn’t realize that she NEVER tires out! That little girl has so much energy its unreal! An hour later she was bouncing as hard and fast as she was the first 2 mins! Finally my Dad had to throw in the towel and we had to coax her off to bed. She slept pretty good after that.

THURSDAY:
Again, when my Dad got Mia in the morning she was sleeping behind the door again. For some reason she no longer likes to stay in her bed. I can’t figure it out! Well my Dad got her up in the morning while I got some extra sleep. Its been over a year since the last time I was able to sleep in, in the morning and it was so nice. I slept all the way until 11am!!! That was a record for me!

When I got up, I found Mia and my Dad hanging out downstairs. She was already fed and was playing with her farm toys with her Grandpa.

The weather was already started showing signs of heating up so the three of us (....Adrian.... was still sleeping) decided to go to a smoothie shop. So we packed Mia up in the car and off to “Juice It” we went. Neither my Dad or myself have ever tried this particular store but it was the closest to us, and near Super Target (we had to pick up a few things there as well)

Once we got to the smoothie place we ordered our smoothies. Mia didn’t get one but we shared with her. She seemed to like my Pineapple drink more than her Grandpa’s. The funny thing is, I think she was getting cold by the drinks because she developed goose bumbs and started shivering! Haha

After we drank a bit we went next door to Target. By then I was feeling a bit winded and not so well. So my Dad dropped me off in front of the store while he and Mia parked the car. Mia was not to happy that I left the car and kept asking for “Mama! Mama!”

Once we got into the store we went shopping. I returned a pair of sandals she had received on her birthday (due to having a duplicate pair already) and with the money I set out to buy her another pair. It turns out they didn’t have a huge selection, however, we did come across the CUTEST pair of Tinkerbell sandals!!! They were a bit more than the originally sandals but since the gift came from my parents my Dad offered to buy them for her. AWWWW!!! Mia fell in love instantly with the new sandals and demanded she wear them. So there we were, pushing Mia around in the cart while she wore the unpaid for sandals on her feet. The string that attached the pair together was still on! We later had to go to customer service to have them cut it off so she could walk.

Along with the sandals Mia was spoiled with more goodies from her Grandpa. He bought her a cute little “Strawberry Fields Forever” –Beatles, pink shirt … a bag of alphabet magnets, and cute little blue basket so she could put her “little people” toys in. I bought her some new water diapers (we had planned for her to go into the pool later that day). It was a fun shopping trip and in the end Mia and Grandpa shared a pretzel.

When we got home, I received the news I so didn’t want to hear. I ended up being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes afterall… bummer! I was seriously bummed out about it but with the help of my Dad, Mia and Adrian they helped cheer me up a bit. Soon it was time for Mia’s nap so my Dad and I walked her up to her room for a nap. I took off her sandals and she BLEW UP! She was so upset I had to leave the room. The rest of the time she was complaining and crying to her Grandpa, “Mama shoes! Mama shoes!”

Later in the afternoon, when the sun started to go down (since it was still 90+ outside) I drug out Mia’s little pool. After her nap we fed her lunch and off to the front yard she went for a nice cooling dip. It was so cute to see her in her new bathing suit she got for her birthday! This one actually fit!!!

Right away she ran and got into the pool. Grandpa poured water on her and played for a bit. As Mia played in her pool, my Dad and I watched on while sitting on some chairs in the shade. It was slowly cooling down and a breeze was starting to blow. I decided to grab a few more toys for Mia to play with and went into the house, actually the garage. I wasn’t gone to long, and when I came back inside I was shocked to see a crying wet Mia standing in front of our front door, and my Dad’s shirt covered in water! I didn’t know what happened or if something was wrong. I asked “what happened” and my Dad explained how a Tornado swept across the street and he grabbed Mia and ran inside! I said “What?!?!” and he explained how he heard a massive wind noise that was coming down the street. Within seconds it was in front of our neighbors house across the street from us. It was a huge dust funnel that was spinning at such a high rate that it bend my neighbor’s tree and a huge branch broke off. Soon it started spinning out of control and was making its way across the street towards our house!!! That’s when my Dad jumped up, grabbed Mia out of the pool and ran her inside the house. She didn’t know what was going on and was still holding her little water cup!

Wow! I know we have weird weather here, but never thought a tornado would be across our street! Haha Once the sun was finally down and it started to get cold, and Mia was shivering in her pool we decided pool time was over. My Dad had the awesome idea of dumping her in the bath afterwards. She needed a bath anyway. So I got her bath ready and my Dad brought her inside and into the tub she went. She warmed up right away and had a blast playing with her toys.

Then came the hair washing time… Uh-Oh! This is always a challenge with her and getting WORSE! It has gotten so bad that ....Adrian.... has to wash her hair because I can’t struggle with her being so far along pregnant wise. ....Adrian.... was at work so he couldn’t do it so it was Grandpa to the rescue! Of course she put up a fight, and even tried to climb out of the tub but Grandpa wouldn’t let her. He did a great job washing her hair and I was really impressed. Maybe because of the fact I have never seen him wash any one hair before haha

After bathtime, I got her jammies on and we attempted to feed her dinner. She really didn’t want to eat to much and actually fell asleep at the table on her Grandpa’s chest. She was all tuckered out, so off to bed Grandpa carried her and that ended another fun day.

FRIDAY:
Due to the bad news about my diagnoses I was still feeling pretty bummed out. That’s when my Dad took myself and Mia to WinCo. So I could stock up on food I could eat. It was a shopping adventure.. checking labels and making food choices. Mia was pretty good in the cart and didn’t cause to much of a fuss.

After WinCo. We stopped by Del Taco next door to pick up some lunch, and that’s when my Dad, who was driving, accidentally scuffed my rear rim. It wasn’t a big deal but my Dad felt bad. Infact he felt so bad that after we got home and he put Mia for a nap, he ran off to Temecula find a store that carried something to take the tiny scrape out. He went to multiple stores all around Temecula and as gone for a long while.

While Grandpa was gone, Mia finally woke up from her nap and the first thing she did was come downstairs and look for Grandpa all happily. When she couldn’t find him she started to call out to him and looked so sad. I told her he would be back but she was still upset. Eventually I got her to snap out of it.

Later her diaper needed to be changed so I took her to the guestroom where we usually change diapers. In the middle of the diaper change, Mia got away from me on the bed and peed BIG TIME! All over Grandpa’s sheets! Oh-No!! I tried to grab her but she still got away from me and started bouncing around on her wet butt making pee butt prints on the rest of the clean sheets! I soon had to tackle her, put on her diaper and ran the sheets upstairs to be washed. I also had to scrub the mattress… not fun! I guess she wasn’t to happy Grandpa was gone! Haha

Later my Dad came back and came in with some steaks to cook up for dinner. Mia was so happy to see him again. Then my Dad and I cooked up a STORM for dinner. He cooked his famous steaks while I cooked up some mashed potatoes and steamed some veggies! We ate like royalty that night and it was soooo good.

Before Mia’s bedtime we played some music for her. My Dad found one of his favorite 80s songs and played it for her. It was “Girls just wanna have fun” – Cyndi Lauper. They both danced in the livingroom a bit before she wanted to be picked up. It was fun seeing them play together and once Mia grew tired off to bed she went.

SATURDAY:
Well Saturday was the final day my Dad would be with us. It was so sad, but we knew we would see him again soon. He got Mia up in the morning and gave her breakfast. Before had had to leave he spend a good 30 mins playing with Mia. She was laughing and screaming and having so much fun with him. They both were going nuts in the living room and I was getting a kick out of watching them. Then Mia did the unexpected.. something she RARELY does with even us! She was so happy and excited she leaned over and started peppering my Dad with kisses just like we do to her! Awwwwww!!!! She was so happy.

Then it was time for my Dad to go home. We put Mia down for a nap before he left so she wouldn’t get so sad watching him drive away (which she always does). Adrian and I said our sad goodbyes to my Dad and he drove away. Mia woke up a while later and again started looking everywhere for my Dad and calling out to him. It was so sad. She was pretty grumpy the rest of the night and we ended up putting her to bed early. Even a quick outing with Dada didn’t help her mood, she was really sad.

Well its been a GREAT week having my Dad here. Time always flys by so fast when he is here. I am so grateful that he is able to come down and help when he can and we are so blessed for that. I can’t wait until the next visit, I believe it may happen sometime the end of Aug. when ..Adrian.. has an early training in ....San Diego.... for a week. We can’t wait!... especially Mia!
