Mia and Mew Mew (our 10 year old family cat) have never gotten along. It doesn't help that Mia LOVES to try to kick Mew Mew in the face whenever she sees her, or poke her in the eye. Mia also constantly chases the cat away by saying "Go! Go! Go!". Mew Mew has been good about it, she has never hurt Mia and when she does fight back its usually a smack with her paw without her claws. This will scare Mia and she will stop harassing the her for a bit.
Mew Mew usually hangs out upstairs all day until Mia goes to bed, so they interact very seldom. However, yesterday that was about to change.
Adrian had wamed up some Carne Asada and was eating it for lunch. Mia LOVES her Dada's Carne and is constantly asking for a piece. Of course with the smell of fresh meat looming in the air, the cat couldn't resist either and joined us in the kitchen. She stayed as far as should from Mia but it didn't help, Mia spotted her. Right away she kept saying "Kitty! Kitty" and went after her, however, this time she didn't want to be mean, she wanted to be nice. Mia took her little piece of meat and tried to feed it to Mew Mew. Mew Mew of course was unsure and backed away from Mia. Mia went closer and dropped the piece on the ground next to the cat... then grabbed her tiny frisbee, turned it over and said "Bowl!" and pushed it next to the piece of meat and Mew Mew. She really wanted to feed the cat, but the cat refused the meat.
Eventually Mew Mew walked away and Mia got heart broken. "Oh-No...Kitty... Oh-No!!" she said and started to get upset. I had to try to convince the cat to come back and eat the meat but she wouldn't. Eventually after a long wait Mew Mew finally allowed Mia to feed her the meat and Mia got the biggest smile on her face! She was so happy and proud of herself.
I am not sure what the change of heart is all about. Mia usually wants to hurt the cat but now she wants to feed her. I think its because Mia has recently developed this obsession on feeding her stuffed animal cat. She is constantly putting her toy cat at Mew Mew's food bowl and says "Kitty Eat" or "Kitty Food". Either way I think its cute. I did manage to capture a little bit of it on video, I will try to upload that sometime soon.
