Current Mood: Happy
I know its been a few days since her actual birthday but it has been a whirlwind couple of days. Now that I actually have some downtime, hopefully, it will be enough so I can go into all kinds of fun details about her little birthday party in Oxnard. So bare with me, this is gunna be a LONG entry!
Mia went to bed around 9ish the night before her birthday. We were staying at my parents house, so Adrian went to bed with her. I was working on her birthday cake with my Dad in the kitchen when midnight approached. About a few mins. before I snuck into the room to be with Mia while she officially turned 2. She was fast asleep and her Daddy lay next to her. He woke up when he heard the door open and I told him why I was there. We watched the clock together and together we wished Mia a Happy Birthday when the clock hit midnight. I gave her a soft kiss on her head and quietly left the room. I couldn't believe my little baby had turned 2!!
The next morning I was woken up by Adrian and Mia greeting me. I quickly wished the birthday girl a happy birthday and gave her a big hug, kiss, and prepared her breakfast. Adrian had told me that he tried so sing her the happy birthday song when she woke up but she wanted no part of it and told him "no no no no no" haha
Her party was going to be held at my Brother's house and wouldn't start till about noon, so we had some time to kill. The weather was pretty muggy, no sun but it was still pretty hot. I decided to dress Mia up in a big poofy pink dress that was handed down to us by her Cousin Brianna. It fit her perfectly so I took her out to my parents backyard and took some pictures of her in it. After we came back inside I decided to take some pictures of her next to her Foofa cake. We brought the cake out and right away she wanted to open the container that the cake was being held in. When she opened it her eyes lit up and she said "Foofa cake!" She knew right away what it was. She kept wanting to touch it and eventually, after Dada gave her a taste of icing, she started poking at the icing herself. When we tried to take the cake away she blew up!!! and Grandpa had to take her back outside to play.
When she came back inside, I changed her out of her dress and into her favorite tank top and shorts. Of course she was NOT happy about taking off her dress and threw another big fit. She was becoming more and more moody and I began to worry how she would act at her own party. I know its her party and she could cry if she wanted to.. but knowing Mia she might take it to the extreme!! So we decided to lay her down for a quick nap ... it was her party she could be fashionably late if she wanted too. So Grandpa Pizano laid down with her but we gave her a 30 mins time period, if she didn't fall asleep by then we would just risk it and take her to the party anyway. Well 30 mins passed and she never fell asleep so we swooped her up and off to the party she went.
Adrian, myself and Mia's Nina and Nino chipped in to rent Mia a jolly jumper for her birthday. We know how much Mia LOVES to jump and we couldn't think of a better present. So once we arrive at their house the jumper was already up. Once Mia saw it her eyes got big and a huge smile came over her face. She couldn't wait to get off the car and into the jumper, but we didn't put her in it right away. The birthday girl had to make an appearance inside and say hi to everyone. So we rang the door bell and her cousins and Nina answered. Mia was again a bit shy but soon became fasinated by all the decorations that were hung around the house. There were balloons, streamers and banners everywhere. Her two oldest cousins Tracy and Sarah made two special "Happy Birthday Mia" banners and hand drew all the Gabba characters for her and hung them on the sliding glass door. Mia also got to see the poster board sized Muno (Another Gabba Character) her Nino drew from hand for her. She pointed at it and went around in circles looking at all the balloons and decorations.
After her hellos we all went outside and into the jumper she went. She went NUTS!!! and literally bounced, screamed and had fun for over an hour before we finally got her out. Getting her out wasn't easy either, we had to bribe her with some milk!! Once she was out I took the chance to feed her some lunch. Of course we didn't want her to get back into the jumper on a full stomach so we lead her outside where she could play with her cousins more.
Her Nino and Grandpa were busy BBQ'ing a TON of yummy food!!! The smell of carne asada was everywhere and made me extra hungry!! I watched Mia play a bit in the back yard. Her cousin April blew some bubbles for her and Mia played with their pretend kitchen set. She kept wanting to put rocks inside and was constantly on a rock hunt saying "rock rock rock". She did scrape her leg alittle after climbing all over their bricks but she never cried. The sun finally came out and the day became beautiful... though hot! She then joined her three cousins and started coloring with sidewalk chalk. She soon became greedy with the chalk and started taking it away from everyone! Oh-No!!! haha So we took her back outside to the jumper again where she jumped jumped jumped. She had so much fun jumping in the jumper with her cousins Tracy, Sarah and April. She really liked jumping with Sarah because she could get as rowdy as Mia! They both had screaming matches and held hands while jumping. It was really cute to watch.
After jumping time was over we got Mia out of the jumper again to rest. Right away she ran into the back yard to find more rock for the toy kitchen. She walked around the backyard a bit and walked past me. Thats when I heard it... yep it was a fart and I knew it was loud so it wasn't her Baby Cousin Sophia nearby. So I checked her diaper and sure enough she left a present for me. So I told her it was time to change her diaper but she refused and ran away. I tried to get her but she ran some more and ended up running right into my brother's BBQ!!! She didn't get burned but she did hit her head pretty hard on the metal part. Of course this sent her screaming and crying. I picked her up (though I know I shouldn't since I am pregnant and she is so heavy) and tried to comfort her. Everyone came around to make sure she was ok. We brought her into the house and calmed her down and changed her diaper. After that she as ok again and was ready to go back into the jumper... again.
This time not only did her cousins join her in the jumper but her Nino did too!!!! He picked her up and bounced her all around the jumper as she laughed and screamed like he had never heard her before. Unfortunately for him, she never let him stop or put her down. She demanded he pick her up and keep jumping... so since she was the birthday girl he kept going even though he was beat tired. Everyone jumped around a bit, even doing a mary-go-round thing for awhile. Mia joined right in and had lots of fun. Soon her Nina joined in and bounced around with her. Soon her older cousins started to do flips in the jumper and Mia watched. Then her Nino did some flips in the jumper too!!! Everyone was having such a great time.
Soon it was time for cake!!! I had her sit in my lap while everyone sang to her. She was so happy to see her Foofa Cake again and clapped when everyone was done singing. She had a big number 2 as a candle and she was able to blow it out all by herself. She really liked doing that. Then she dug her finger into the icing and tasted it. It only took one taste before she was hooked!!! Soon she was sticking her fingers all over the cake and smearing the icing everywhere. I tried to give her a piece of cake but she refused it. She didn't like it, she rather eat the icing.
Her cake was also decorated with all the Gabba characters. I had bought the a set of water squirters and used them to decorate the cake. When she saw them she got all excited and played with them while digging into the icing. She even started saying Plex for the first time. "Pwex". She even got to eat some pineapple sherbert icecream and she seemed to really like it.
After the cake time was over, she went off to play with her new gabba toys. Her Cousin April is also a Gabba fan and wanted to play with Mia's toys. I wasn't sure what would happen next, but what ended up happening surprised me... especially since Mia is so greedy at times. She actually shared her toys with her cousin and they played together...awwww
After the cake, it was game time. The giant poster board Muno I mentioned before was used as a game. The game was called "Pin the eye on Muno" I got the idea from an online search. So one by one each little one had a turn and tried to pin the eye on Muno. Mia's cousin April won the first round with Mia in second place, and Mia won the second time around. After each game, everyone got to pick out a toy out of the toy sack! Mia won a plastic ball shooting gun, a princess puzzle and some kazoos. After Mia's first try at the game she cried when others went for their turn. She wanted to have all the eyes and we ended up having to give her a spare one. She of course tried to put the eye on herself! haha The first time around her Dada helped her, the second time she wanted nothing to do with the game and rather play with her toys. So her Nino stepped in and help convince her to play once last time and she won! Awwww.....
After game time was over it was present time!!! This is always my favorite time. She sat on my lap again and was showered with gifts. The first gift she got was special from her Cousin Sarah. She opened it and inside were two homemade puzzles Sarah had made for her. It was so sweet, especially since Mia loves puzzles.
Next were more presents and soon Mia got the hang of it. She kept asking for "Box" after opening one present. She wanted more and more! The flow kept coming and she made out like a bandit. She got a cute little outfit from her Nina and Nino and the bought her a BIG doll house for "Little People" her favorite! She also got a big Little People Farm from her Grandparents, and a TON and I mean TOOOOON of clothes from them as well. She also got a pair of sandles and big yellow Ug looking slippers! She got a card and $20 from her Great Grandpa Pizano as well. He also was at her party. Her final gift was special from me. As tradition, I gave her my 2nd Birthday Doll. I love handing down the special birthday dolls that I got at her age and its a tradition I know I will keep. Of course Mia wanted to play with it and I wouldn't let her. Once I took it away she threw a fit and I had to hide it... oh well.
Soon the party began to wind down. All the kids were hyped up on sugar and were literally boucing off the walls, Mia included. It was fun to watch everyone go crazy. Even her baby Cousin Sophia joined in the fun. Mia still never took a nap and it got later and later. Soon all she wanted was me to pick her up and when I didn't she went to her Dada. Once he picked her up she knocked on out his shoulder and we knew it was time to go. Her party was officially over...
We loaded up the car and all said our goodbyes. This was around midnight!!! She didn't wake up in the car and didn't wake up when we walked her inside my parents house. So we quickly took her to the room and laid her down and she knocked out the rest of the night.
Phew what a party! It was so much fun. We were all pooped afterwards and all got some much needed rest.
Happy 2nd Birthday Baby Mia! I love you!
