An Unexpected Adventure

Current mood: full

Happy 4th of July!!!! I am sure I will have another blog to write about describing our 4th but this one is going to be dedicated to our little unexpected adventure today.

We really weren't sure what we were planning on doing today. Not much is happening around the county and traveling to San Diego just didn't seem to appealing. There is a place where they are having fireworks and a fair, in nearby Temecula, but we went there last year and it was a disaster!!!!! There was ZERO parking. It was the worst parking situation I have ever seen!!! Even the neighborhoods and streets were full! We ended up watching the fireworks from the side of the road on the main street through town next to a Rite-Aid.

This year we found out they are having another fair type thing going on in the city of San Jacinto, which isn't to far from here. We might check that out, especially for fireworks later in the evening. So what to do in the meantime?!?!

Well while we were here relaxing at home I got a CRAZY intense pregnancy craving for some Thai food! Unfortunately, the only Thai place I like is in San Diego. The craving got so bad that we decided to check out some local Thai places (that is how desperate I was). I jumped online and looked up two places that had high reviews and the exact dish I wanted, "Drunken Noodle"!

So we jumped in the car and zoomed off to Murrieta. I was practically tasting the Thai food, and I was sooo hungry. My tummy rumbled and the baby was going nuts because of all the noise my tummy was making. We decided we would go to BOTH places and order the same dish just incase one was better than the other. Finally we reached the first place... I was so excited with anticipation! We drove around the parking lot of the small shopping center only to find the place went out of business!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was devistated and heart broken, but luckily there was still my back up place, so we zoomed down the road a bit to that place.

Finally we found it, and it was not out of business, however, it was closed due to the holiday!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! I was so upset!!! Now what?! I need my Thai food!!!! Luckily, we spotted a third place on the way to the second place so we decided to check that out. We pulled up and........... closed due to the holiday!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I was seriously bummed out. We had been driving around so much I was STARVING and poor Mia already knocked out in her car seat.

I was so sad, nothing else seemed good. I really didn't want fast food, I wanted veggies or soup!! Ah well... I figured I might as well just cook something at home instead. So not to make our trip a total bust we decided to do something else while we were out and about. Adrian needed to go to Staples so we headed over there on the way back home. Thats when I saw my saving grace! A little Mexican food place... more of a hole in the wall. We have eaten there before and they are really good and what was better... it was OPEN!!! YAY!!!! Though I didn't orginally want Mexican food, a tostada with tons of lettuce sounded appealing. It sure beat chicken strips from Carl's Jr or Wendy's. So we pulled up, woke our little sleeping beauty up and went inside.

I had told Adrian I was craving something healthy, something with veggies and thats when he pointed out the soup. It was called Caldo de Rez. I have seen it before but never eaten it. When I looked closer it had ALL the veggies I love in it! Zuchinni, carrots, cabbage, onion, papas EVERYTHING!!! The bowl looked really small on the menu so I ordered that AND a tostada. Once our food came I was literally shocked to see how big the bowl of soup really was. It was HUGE!!!!!!!!!! and I mean Gigantic!!!! It was pipping hot just the way I like it and was served with a side of cilantro and rice! Yummy!! I dove right in and O-M-G! My taste buds melted right there! I was in veggie heaven!!! The soup was AMAZING!!!!! and I was in love! I tossed aside my tostada and just stuffed myself with soup! I was so happy.

Mia on the other hand refused to eat her quesadilla or anything at that. Eventually she munched a little bit but was more interested in my drink, jamica. After we were all fat and happy we went off to Staples which was only up the street a bit.

While in Staples we let Mia run around and explore a bit. She LOVES to test drive all the office chairs that are in display and had a blast spinning around in them. After Staples we walked next door to Best Buy and let her run around in there a bit. After destroying a few shelves we took her to the back instrument area. She loved bashing the keys on the keyboards, singing in the microphone and most of all, drumming on the drums. She had a blast and we had fun watching her. I even got on the drum set and played with it for a bit.

Eventually it was time to head back home so we got back in the car and went back home. That is where we are now. I attempted to lay Mia down for a nap but I can still hear her playing in her room through the baby monitor. I am writing this and Adrian is resting on the couch. Hopefully we will still make it out to see the fireworks but I dunno... we are all getting pretty sleepy.... well all but Mia!! She is on the GO!! haha

So even though I didn't get my Thai food we still have a pretty fun little family adventure and I discovered I am a HUGE Caldo de Rez fan!! I wouldn't trade that for all the drunken noodle in the world!!!! ........ mmmmmmmmmmmm...... drunken noooooooodle!! *drooling*
