Current mood: relieved
Mia always keeps me on my toes, and just because her brother is here doesn't mean that has stopped. He had a "flower emergency" this morning which had me in an almost panic!!!
Everything seemed to go pretty smooth in the morning. Grandpa brought her down for breakfast and cooked her up a couple of eggs. I had just laid the baby down for a nap and was cleaning up the kitchen. I decided to go through the flowers my parents bought me for the hospital and sort out all the dead or dying ones. Mia was watching me and quickly said "flower? flower?". So I handed her a half dead daisy not thinking much about it.
Once she got the flower she was so happy. She kept sniffing it and going "mmmmm". She loves flowers and rarely gets live ones. Then it was breakfast time and Grandpa served her some eggs and my breakfast as well (yes I am spoiled) and we were eating together. Mia never put down the flower, and would take time between bites of her egg to sniff it.
I was busy eating and wasn't watching her to close when all of a sudden she tried to hand me something. It was two half chewed petals!!! I told Mia, "No, you don't eat the flower you smell it" and she smelled it. I continued eating my food. When I looked up again I was shocked to see what she was doing next...
She was trying to stuff a flower petal up her nose! "NO MIA!" I quickly took it from her. Then something inside of me (a mommy's instinct) said to check her nose for another petal. Sure enough there was a HUGE petal shoved up her nose! It was so far up I couldn't get it out! I started to get scared!
I quickly told my Dad and we both tried to get it out. Mia, who was still holding her flower in one hand, thought the whole thing was funny... until we busted out the tweezers and nose sucker! We tried EVERYTHING to get that little petal out, and nothing worked. I even had to hold her head still while my Dad tried to tweeze it out! He got out a few nose hairs but no petal! Poor Mia was screaming and crying so we decided to stop. We figured there was nothing we could do and it would come out on its own eventually. I was worried it would get in her sinus cavity.
I paced a bit then tried to calm down and sit on the couch. Thats when my Dad started to make Mia laugh and if you know Mia's laugh she likes to blow air out of her nose while she does it. Sure enough she blew out a piece of the flower!!! My Dad quickly jumped on the chance to pull it out and after a small struggle he managed to get the entire petal out of her nose!
Mia just stared all shocked as if to say "Did that come out of me?!" she thought it was a moco! haha I was so relieved, so was my Dad!
So whats the lesson here???? Don't leave Mia alone with flowers!!! haha
