Mia caught the flu

Current mood: nervous

Ugh!!! Talk about a stressful day yesterday was, it was so stressful and crazy I couldn't blog about it at all. Today seems ok... though we aren't out of the woods yet, Mia is still pretty lethargic and shes eating a piece of bread with water, hopefully it will stay down.

Yesterday, I had to get up early with the baby to take him to the doctor. Since the appointment was in Moreno Valley early in the morning, Adrian and I decided that he would stay home with Mia so we wouldn't have to get her up early in the morning (luckily we did because we had NO IDEA what we were in for).

The appointment was good, though stressful for me since I have never taken the kids alone to their doctor's appointments AND he needed blood drawn... great! So I got home pretty exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally.

When I got home I noticed right away Mia wasn't wearing the jammies she went to bed in and thats when Adrian told me she was sick and threw up a few times in her bed!!! OH NO!!! I am really not good with vomit and tend to get sick myself if I am around it. Another thing is I can't afford to get sick right now, with my surgery site still healing.. it hurts even to laugh hard or sneeze, I would hate to know what throwing up would do to it. Plus I am still breastfeeding Alex and I didn't want him sick either!!! So I locked the baby away in the spare room and didn't bring him out again.

Mia seemed in good spirits. She wasn't all lethargic or whiney.. actually if you didn't know she threw up you'd think shes normal. She was playing with her toys and trying to hug me alot. Eventually she asked for a "nana cookie" and crackers. We gave her some and she ate decently... 2 cookies and about 3-4 crackers before she handed them back.

I was a wreck with nerves. Though I tried to keep it together, I got a bunch of nervous energy so I started to pace circles around the kitchen island and table. Before I knew it Mia was following me! Like a little duckling she was right behind me walking. She seemed to like it and if I tried to sit down she would demand I "walkie" more so we walked together a bit longer until I got to tired.

I sat on the couch and she sat next to me. I noticed right away she kept sticking out her tounge and doing a dry cough. Then I thought I saw a slight gag.. thats when she stood up and turned to me and I noticed she was gagging. I yelled to Adrian "I think shes gagging" and just then like a gyser she started vomiting all over herself and the carpet!! "ADRIAN!!" I screamed as I grabbed a nearby towel trying to catch it (I missed) he came over and cleaned her up for me and changed her clothes and washed them for me (what a great husband) he also washed her sheets from earlier and scrubbed her mattress too!!

Mia didn't seem to care that she threw up, she didn't panic or get scared or anything all she said was "EW!" Once she was all cleaned up we didn't feed her again and kept her on ice chips and water the rest of the afternoon and early evening.

Adrian later took a 2 hr nap with her and she slept decently... the rest of the evening she was pretty liss liss and clingy to Adrian (I was in the room with Alex most of this time) and by the 12 hr mark she started to perk up a bit. She asked for crackers and bread so we gave it to her sparenly and she ate it right up! We watched her for the next couple of hours but she didn't vomit again. We later put her to bed and now I just got her up.

Again shes a bit liss liss but just finished a piece of bread and asked for another. I gave her half of another... hopefully it will all settle and the worst is over, but I have learned never let your guard down with these sort of things, you never know what may happen!!! Wish me luck!!!!
