I love to listen to Mia's little stories

Current Mood: Tired

Mia is growing up so fast. Shes in such a fun stage right now where she can communicate so much better. You can really understand what she is saying and she can hold conversations now. My most favorite thing of all is when her and Adrian come back from running errands together and the stories she tells about their little adventure.

Today was extra cute. Adrian had to run to a couple of Staples to drop off some ink. Since it was the last day to do it he had to do it today and he wanted to take Mia with him. Unfortunately, Mia had just taken a shower and was dressed in her jammies and Elmo slippers. Adrian didn't mind and wanted to take her anyway but I was hesitant about it. After some thought I agreed with Adrian that it would be good for her to get out, plus it wasn't too late it was only 5:30pm.

So off they went. They ended up going to TWO Staples (one in Lake Elsinore and the other in Murrieta) AND Best Buy. When she came home she told me all about the fun things they did... mostly in Best Buy. She LOVES that Best Buy in particular because they have a music section with lots of instruments. She had not been there in a while so Adrian thought it would be a nice treat for her. I wish he would have taken my camera or better yet I wish I would have been there to see her all dressed in her pink leopard print jammies, a large pink coat and wearing her Elmo slippers as she played with the different instruments! I am sure the site was priceless!

When I asked her about it, she told me she went "boom boom pow on drums" "played guitar" "play piano" (she motioned like she was playing piano) "had fun" and other things. I loved hearing her tell me all about it and even tried to capture some of it on video. She was so excited and happy.

I love hearing all the little stories she shares. I really need to keep my camera on hand so I can capture her cute stories since she is still learning to talk and communicate and she sounds so cute. It is times like these that the "terrible 2's" don't seem so terrible after all.

How a morning can change in an instant!

Current Mood: Tired

Now that I have a short window of time to blog, I just HAD to tell this story before I went go to bed. I thought it gave a perfect example on how fast a morning can change from mild and quiet to chaotic in the manner of seconds!

The morning started off fine, nothing to big going on. Alex was sleeping in the guest room and Mia and I were hanging out in the livingroom watching her Disney Princess Movie. Things were quiet and mellow so I decided to give my Dad a quick call since we rarely get to talk long anymore due to the kids demands on me. Little did I know what was in store for me mins. after calling my Dad...

He answered the phone and it was literally seconds later did I hear Alex crying in the room. OH NO!! So much for my phone call. I knew Alex had to eat and though I have juggled the phone, Mia and feeding Alex before, I just had a feeling I wouldn't do so good this time around, so I hung up with my Dad. Good call on my behalf now that I think about it.

I went over to the room and picked up Alex. He was screaming hysterically... boy was he hungry. So I walked him to the living room, set up the pillows and all I needed to feed him and then got him all set. Things were going good for the first couple of seconds then Mia comes around and says "Oh No! Poopies" as she grabs her butt. OH NO!! Now I am stuck and I don't know what to do. Mia had not gone poopies in TWO days so I wasn't sure what was in store for me in that diaper, plus she was wearing her Snow White costume.. I didn't want her to get poop on it! On the other hand, Alex just started to eat and he was starving, not to mention my milk just started to let down which means if I took him off now it would go EVERYWHERE! What to do What to do!?!

So I decided to give Alex a few more seconds in hopes he would drain me enough so it wouldn't be to messy when I took him off. At the same time I kept Mia talking so she wouldn't decide to run off or worse sit down!

Then the time came.. I had to act fast!....

I quickly took Alex off and laid him on the couch. He was NOT happy about this and let out a HUGE scream and again was crying hysterically. I quickly ran over to Mia laid her on the ground and changed her diaper as fast as I could. Then I ran over to Alex, set him up again and started to feed him again. Phew!! I thought to myself, wow pretty cool I am pro. What I didn't know, however, was the worse was NOT over...

Just as I started to let my guard down I heard a HORRIBLE noise come from Alex's diaper! Thats right... he pooped too!! OH NO!!!!! and it was BIG! I didn't want him to have a blow out so I quickly took him off ... again!.... and laid him on the couch. Again, he wasn't happy but what made things worse is since I didn't get a chance to burp him either time I took him off he ended up spitting up TONS of milk all over himself and left a huge puddle on the couch! Our good couch too! NOOOOO!!!! I quickly sprang up and grabbed a face towel Mia had been playing with earlier and cleaned up the milk. Mia got mad that I used her towel but I quickly distracted her by running out of the room. She thought it was a game and started to chase me while "roaring". I grabbed a new diaper for Alex and ran back to him. Sure enough his diaper was PACKED! EWWW!! I quickly cleaned him up and got him all set up again and again started to feed him. Finally, I thought.... well nope it wasn't over. Not even a couple of mins later I saw Mia in the kitchen with her dress pulled up and she was grabbing at her diaper. I asked her whats wrong and she said "oh no poopies!" NOOOO!! Not again! Are you kidding me?!?!?!

This time I decided to let Alex finish eating and once he was done I checked Mia. Luckily it was a false alarm and there was nothing in her diaper. YAY!!!

Wow what a chaotic few mins. You see, you never know what will happen when you have two little ones. One min. you think you can rest and relax and before you know it.. all Heck breaks loose!! I am just glad that I handled it as good as I did otherwise EVERYONE would be in trouble! haha

Princess Mia

Current Mood: Happy

Well it is starting the happen already... Mia is starting to grow into her "Princess" phase! I really didn't think it would happen since she is so rough and tumble but it is. She is learning who and what the Disney Princesses are and now she thinks she is one.

Her Grandma Rebecca gave her a Snow White costume and she is ALWAYS in it! Now whenever she wears ANY dress she calls it a Princess dress and she is Princess Mia! haha I thought it would be cute to see how she would react when I pulled out a GIANT poofy dress she got handed down to her by her cousin Brianna. I knew it was still a bit big on her but I wanted to see her reaction anyway. So when I went into her room to wake her up and changed her diaper I pulled out the dress from her closet. You should have seen how big her eyes got and how they lit up! She got all excited and yelled "OOOOOOH..PRINCESS DRESS!" She couldn't wait to pull off her jammies and put it on haha.

I put it on her and she was so happy! She spun around and looked at herself all excited. I let her run around a bit in the dress and then started a Princess movie on the TV. This made her even more happy and she was soon dancing along with the Princesses on TV.

My little Princess Mia! I can't wait until Christmas because we already got her TONS of princess things! Princess shoes, 7 princess dolls and a talking princess kitchen set! She will be so happy!

Cooking with Mama

Current Mood: Happy

Ever since I found out that I was having a girl, I thought about the day we would cook together or bake. I just can't wait for Mia to get bigger so we can make cookies, though I can't bake cookies very well, and just do all the Mama/daughter things together.

Well today I decided that I would "TRY" to cook with her. At least expose her to cooking and preparing stuff. She had so much fun! and so did I, though we made a big mess together.

First we made some white rice. I thought it was simple enough, just pour some water into the steamer, pour some rice and some more water and there ya go. Mia had a ball pouring in the water and rice and even started to eat the raw rice!!! I tried to stop her but she insisted "mmm ... mmm.. rice good!" as she crunched away haha.

She had so much fun cooking the rice that I decided to make a cake. The only cake mix we had was for gingerbread. I have never baked that before but hey what could go wrong?! HAHAHAHA The cake was a little tough to make with Mia and a bit messier too, especially when she stuck her hand in the batter then tried to shake it clean. We had to take a couple of emergency trips to the sink to wash her hands, but she didn't mind, she loves to wash her hands. I taught her how to stir the batter and soon I popped it in the oven.

She was all proud of herself that she cooked rice and a cake and when the cake was done she couldn't wait to taste it. I kept telling her it to was to hot to eat but she insisted.. so I broke off a tiny piece and blew on it until it was cool. I took out my camera so I could film her first taste of her first cake but once I handed it to her she got all upset that the piece was so small. She kept saying it was broken and almost started to cry as she ran off camera. Sigh!!! haha So I cut her a bigger slice, cooled it off and told her to eat it on the couch. I then took a big taste for myself and... YUCK!!!! It was so GROSS!!! EWWWW!!! I love ginger bread cookies and ginger snaps but this cake was AWFUL! I thought for sure Mia would think it was yucky too so I ran to her with the camera and recorded her as she took her first taste. To my surprised she liked it!!! HAHA Well at least someone did.

I let her have her piece of cake and threw out the rest. Ah well.... once the rice was done she ate some of that too.

Overall the experience was fun. It was a fun little project for the both of us and I am so happy we shared that time together. I can't wait to see what is next on the menu...

Mia making rice for the first time

She loved to pour the water in the steamer and we literally had to do this a TON of times. I even had to empty the steamer so she could start over and keep going

Mia liked pouring in the rice and even ate the rice raw!! I tried to stop her but she liked it

Mia's first cake! It was Ginger Bread

We had to wash her hands a few times, she kept getting dirty

Mia learning how to stir

This is the outtake... she didn't like the portion I served her and I had to redo the video

Eating the finished product!

Another Fun Day in San Diego

Current Mood: Full

Good Morning! I meant to write this blog last night but by the time Adrian and Mia got home, Alex was fed, and I ate some La Bellas, I was too tired and decided to run off to bed instead. But here I am, bright and early in the morning. Alex is in the other room sleeping, Mia just woke up for the morning (so I have to make this quick) and the heater is on. I am ready to go!

Yesterday, Adrian and Mia took off to San Diego to visit his Mom again. Adrian needed to install a few more computer parts, help his mom with her phone, and some other things. I stayed home with Alex and we had another Mama/Son bonding day. We had fun together (of course when he wasn't crying his little lungs out) though I did come to realize that the more Adrian and Mia leave on their little outings that I miss going with them. I always joined them pre-Alex so staying home is alittle weird for me right now. The only saving grace is hanging out with my little man.. he cheers me up. I also know this is all temporary and soon all 4! of us will be doing little family outings once again.

So Mia and Adrian left pretty early, alittle after noon. They didn't go straight to San Diego, however. They first hit San Marcos on the way down south and shopped at Fry's. Adrian picked up a few floor heaters for the house so we could try them out. Its been getting insanely cold lately here. Mia did good, she hung out in the basket and later got to see all the little fishies they had on display.

After Fry's they headed off to San Diego. On the way to La Bellas, Adrian realized something horrible. He had forgotten Mia's diaper bag in my car (at the last min. he decided to take his own car instead of mine) So he quickly called up his Mom and asked her to pick up some diapers for him on the way to the restaurant. He kept saying size "5"! however, Grandma forgot and came with size "4" OH NO! but they made due with what they had and luckily Mia had no accidents and more lucky she didn't go poopies! haha

Anyway they met up with Grandma at La Bellas (our favorite Italian Restaurant in San Diego). Unfortunately for them the Charger game was on so it was PACKED! (La Bellas is notorious for having TONS of Charger fans flock to it to watch the game in their bar area). They did, however, get seated pretty quickly. It didn't take long before the waiter came to them and offered them a free desert! WOW! but it wasn't without a cost... they had a family of 7 coming in and they wanted to move Adrian, my Mother-in-law and Mia to another smaller table. Since it was just the three of them and they had not been served yet, they agreed. Soon the party of 7 came in and what do you know, it was some distant relatives!! What are the odds! So they all visited for a while then the food came and they ate.

To my surprise Mia LOVED their Minstrone soup! She rarely ever eats soup, but Grandma worked her magic and right away she was chowing down on it. She even said "Mmm...mmm... soup good!" which is the approval code for Mia. She ate little bit of Daddy's Calzone and some other things. She even got her own treat from the waiter, while Adrian and his mom got cheese cake.. Mia got a small bowl of sherbert!!! She liked that.

After La Bella's they headed off to Grandma's house. Mia was all excited, she LOVES going to Grandma's house. On the way there Adrian passed by a house that was giving away a free scooter. He knew how much Mia LOVED to play on her cousins scooters at her Nina and Nino's house in Oxnard, so decided to pick it up for her. It was a little old and tattered but still worked. Once they got to Grandma's house Mia literally took off on the scooter and was able to push herself along! WOW! That was a first. Later, when they all went into the house Grandma brought out a little wagon she had gotten for Mia. Mia was all excited about the wagon and soon had her Grandma pushing her all over the house. It didn't take long before Grandma got tired but Mia still insisted on being pushed. Eventually Grandma convinced Mia to push around some dollys and stuffed animals in the wagon and Mia settled for that instead.

Later Grandma busted out some crayons to color and you know what that means.. Mia went NUTS! She LOVES to color and draw and that distracted her enough so Daddy and Grandma could work on the computer and phone.

Eventually it got late and it was time to go. They said their goodbyes and headed off home. Once they got here Mia went straight to bed (it was almost 11pm!). She didn't go right to sleep though and it took some time. I was happy to see them home and more happy that Adrian brought me my FAVORITE La Bella's dish.. Manicotti and Minstrone soup! I was in heaven and wasted no time in scarfing that down. Yummy!

Overall the visit was great as always. I just hope I will be able to join them soon.

Crayons save the day!

Current Mood: Relieved

Wow! I never knew the true power of crayons and coloring! They are life savers! Ever since I gave Mia some scratch paper the other day, and a couple of pens, she has gone CRAZY over "drawing". Thats all she wants to do and whats even better, she can do it alone! This gives me time to tend to Alex and other things I need to do, not to mention I get my TV back! YAY! I can take a break from those PBS shows for a short while.

The only bad thing was, she got pen all over her clothes. So when Adrian went to Target yesterday to buy some things, I added crayons to the list. Adrian not only bought her some crayons but they are washable too!!! NICE!!! I didn't even know they made those kind but I am glad they do.

Once I showed Mia the crayons she went NUTS! Now shes drawing even more and paper is all over the house! haha I love looking at her little scribbles. What is even more cute is she tells me what she is drawing before she does, but it still ends up as a scribble. She even drew "baby brother night night" haha Priceless!

So coloring is here to stay, the only problem is I need to dig up some more scratch paper because she is flying through them like crazy. I really don't want to tap into our printer paper just yet haha

These boots are made for walkin'

Current Mood: Amused

I was debating on whether I should blog a cute story that happened last night or not, since blogging is so hard to do nowdays since I have such little time to myself. Well right now Adrian and Mia are in San Diego visiting his mom and Alex just went down for a nap so what do you know, I actually have free time. Granted I could be putting the laundry in the dryer, cleaning the dishes, or putting away Mia's toys but what fun is that?! haha

Well Adrian took Mia out to run some errands yesterday. They hit up Staples and then Target in Lake Elsinore. When they came home, I greeted them at the door. Mia walked in sporting some brand new pink "Hello Kitty" boots on her feet! I was surprised and asked "What are those?!" "Boots!" she said as she jibber jabbered away. Adrian jumped in and added that he wasn't planning on buying them for her but after the HUGE tantrum she threw in the store he had too. Then he asked Mia to tell what happened. She said ...

"Dada store... *jibber jabber* boots *jibber jabber* crying (then making crying noises) AHHHHHH!!!!!! (she let out a loud scream) ... dada night night!"

I laughed because I knew exactly what happened from that little description. Adrian verified. He said in the store she saw the boots and had her try them on. BIG MISTAKE! she liked them and when it came time to take them off she threw a HUGE EPIC tantrum and screamed on top of her lungs! (this explains why Mia said AHHHHHHH haha) and all he could do to get her to stop crying was threaten her with "night night" (going to bed) and she quieted down.

HAHAHA! I love that story. Well needless to say I couldn't get those darn boots off of her either and she ended up sleeping in them at night. Sigh ... little Mia sometimes I think we spoiled her! But who can blame us, shes so cute!

Week 124

I can't decide between the two "pictures of the week" so I decided to post both! haha

Current Mood: Tired

Happy Friday Everyone! Actually, happy Black Friday! Its the Day after Thanksgiving and even as I type this at 9:30am Adrian is out shopping at Target. We are hoping to get this talking princess kitchen set for Mia and its on sale right now! Cross your fingers we can get it for her!

This week was HUGE for little Mia. The main event was she went poopies in the potty for the first time!! WOW! A couple of days following that she went again but this time had a tiny accident, the poopie ended up on the floor but hey its a start... well so I thought. She hasn't gone again and now pooping has become an issue for her. She no longer wants to do it in her diaper OR the potty! Uh-Oh so we will see how that all plays out. So far the last time she went poopies was in her diaper but shes been skipping days now, something she never does. She is clock work regular so I am a bit concerned she might forcefully be holding it. We will see what the future week holds for us with regards to this.

Its been a rough week for me with being tired. Some days I am nearly unfunctional and Mia doesn't like this. She loves to play games with her Mama in the morning. I usually play toys with her. Her favorite are these two little dinosaurs and we make them "roar" and chase each other. We also watch TV together and cuddle on the couch, well that is until Alex needs me. Sometimes shes ok with me taking care of him other times shes gets upset that he takes away from our little time together. I am still working out my nitch in that department.

Mia is also obsessed with drawing right now. Since it was Thanksgiving week, I tried to make "Turkey hands" with her. It didn't go to well but now Mia calls drawing "Turkey hands" haha she always has a pen or crayon handy and we have paper all over the house with scribbles on it. I don't mind though it does keep her occupied for a long while and this gives me time to feed Alex or tend to him.

She is also warming up to her brother more and interacting with them. He will periodically check on him if hes sleeping and make sure hes covered in his blanket, she will try to give him his binky if it falls out and refuses to let me let him cry. She will insist that I hold baby until he stops and if I try to leave the room while hes crying she will throw a fit and make me go back and "help baby". She loves her little brother! Earlier in the week she accidentally poked his eye and when I scolded her she got all heart broken. She thought she hurt baby and I had to reassure her that he was ok. Isn't that priceless! Another thing shes really getting into is taking care of her own little baby. A doll she carries around and takes care of. Just yesterday she was checking her baby to see if he went poopies and pretended to change his diaper. She is such a little Mama already!

She also went out shopping with Daddy this week but what really made it special is that they ate at a restaurant for the first time, just the two of them. It was Rosa's Cafe in Temecula and she had lots of fun. She ate lots of food and watched the little kid run around near her. She really wanted to join them but couldn't. She did good though, when she came home she told me all about "Rosa's Cafe" and eating her "tee-tee and cheese" aka quesadilla.

We also celebrated our little Thanksgiving this week. I cooked up the turkey and fixings and she liked it! She ate TONS of my turkey and got mad when we eventually had to put it away in the fridge. She wanted more turkey! She also ate my stuffing and liked it. What impressed me the most, however, is when we were taking family pictures in front of the turkey, she did so well! She looked at the camera and everything! She actually liked how I could put it on the self timer and we could all take a picture together.

The next day on the official Thanksgiving Holiday, her and Daddy went off to San Diego to see her Cardoso Family. I stayed home with Alex since he is still too young to travel that far. She had a blast down there with her cousins and family and when she came home she was knocked out and didn't wake up again. You know she had tons of fun... and sweets! haha

Well I have to cut this a bit short, Mia is awake and now Alex is stirring time to start my crazy morning!

The Cardoso Family Thanksgiving in San Diego

Current Mood: Sleepy

Good Morning Everyone! Its a COOOOLD one today... I have the heater going and the fire just died and I am still freezing. Well yesterday was "Gobble Gobble" day so with that of course I have new Mia stories.

This year was a little different. Since Alex is still so small and doesn't do well in the car, we decided that I would stay home with him while Adrian and Mia went to San Diego to celebrate Turkey day with the Cardoso family. I felt a little bad that I couldn't join them but Mama duties called, it was a good day though Alex and I had lots of bonding time. Adrian on the other hand, had his hands full with little Miss Mia.

Mia woke up in one of her famous moods. She was cranky, demanding and not happy. Though most of the morning was a battle I still managed to take some pictures of her in her little Holiday dress. A hand-me-down from her cousin Brianna. Once all dressed up in her dress, new shoes, and poofy socks she was ready to go. It was hard to stall her for another 2 hours because she kept wanting to go "outside" or "byebye". Eventually it was a good time to leave and her and Daddy headed out.

She did good on the road, she slept most of the way so once they reached her Grandma Rebecca's house. They decided to stop by there to say hi and visit a bit before heading to Tia Ana's house for the Turkey Day celebration. Once at Grandma's house Mia went nuts! She loves her Grandma so much and was so excited to see her again. Of course she got into EVERYTHING! jewelry, crayons, items and all sorts of things went flying. After a pretty good visit it was time to go, but Mia didn't want to leave. Uh-Oh! Finally Adrian got her to the car but she insisted that Grandma "Sit down" in car to go with them. She wasn't to happy when Grandma couldn't go with them.

Then it was off to Tia Ana's house. They got there pretty early so Mia had time to run around and play with cousin Adan's toys. They were first to eat as well and to Adrian's shock (and mine when I heard) she actually ate TONS of food! WOW! Thats alot coming from little miss picky eater. She ate lasana, ham, mashed potatoes, turkey and all!! I am impressed.

Soon people began to show up and Adrian said she was a bit shy at first but warmed up quickly. She went up to her Great Grandma and said "Hi" which she never used to do and was running all over the house playing with her cousins. At one point she was holding her cousin Brianna's hand and jumping around, next she played with Adan who then became alittle rough with her (hey hes a boy it comes natural! haha) but she still enjoyed playing with his cars. At one point she was having so much fun she screamed super loud and the entire family grew quiet and looked at her in shock! Yep, Mia was making her presence known!

She also went upstairs to where her older cousins where. They were setting up to get ready to play some Guitar Hero (a virtual band video game) and right away she went to the drum set. She took out the sticks and was having fun hitting the drums and kicking the bass drum. She was having a bit to much fun because once the older cousins wanted to play she didn't want to give up the sticks. They tried bribing her with the unused guitar but she wanted no part of it. Eventually Adrian had to go over there and take the sticks away. She wasn't to happy about that but that didn't stop her from snatching one of the sticks back when no one was looking! haha

She was also a little goodies monster!! Adrian said there was a huge table full of sweets and every now and then he would catch Mia running off with a giant cookie! Another time he found her mouth covered in chocolate! She was in heaven especially since we never give her full reign of sweets. No wonder why she was all hyper and screaming around the house! haha

Another cute thing that happened was she really took to her Tia Ana. She kept calling her Grandma! I think because her Tia and Grandma are sisters and look similar. But she was in love with her Tia. She kept insisting on sitting on her lap every chance she got, following her around the house, and just giving her tons of hugs. Tia Ana didn't mind and spent alot of time with her.

Towards the end of the party and as people started to leave and things winded down Adrian found Mia sprawled out on the kitchen floor!!! She was tired! I think she sugar crashed! haha She didn't even have her blanket, she was just laying there. Thats when it was time for them to head home. Mia slept a bit on the ride back and once they got home she went straight to bed and knocked out. She was in her jammies but had her dress still on. I asked Adrian about that and he said that when Tia Ana put on her jammies, Mia insisted she wear her dress over them! haha My little Mia, always loves to dress up.

Overall Thanksgiving was great for all of us. Granted I wish I could have been there with them but staying home with Alex was still nice (though he refused to sleep much and I didn't get to catch up on all the rest I wanted) it was still fun. Hopefully Christmas I will feel comfortable enough to take Alex down south because I would really like to be around some family during the holidays and see Mia run around with her cousins. That is always a treat. Well I think I will get some left overs and some rest before the Mia monster wakes up. Adrian is out shopping for black Friday morning deals at Target so I won't get much relief from the kids today. I need to prepare for that!!

Happy Post Gobble Gobble Day!!!

Our little Thanksgiving 2010

Current mood: Stuffed

Wow what a day! We celebrated our little family Thanksgiving. Yes, we celebrate it a day early but thats our tradition in our little family. The reason for that is, most Thanksgivings Adrian either worked or we had to travel out of town to see family. There was no way we could have our own little Tday AND do all of that so we bumped it up a day early. It isn't so bad, it really works out for our family, plus we get a jump start on some good ol' food!!

I am the one who cooks the turkey and prepares ALL the food. So last night I prepared the bird and popped him in the oven at 7am. My goal time to eat was 2-3 but we didn't get it out until 4! I think I left it in there a bit to long, it wasn't burnt or anything but it was so tender that the wings fell off when I tried to transfer it to the turkey plate. Not only that, we couldn't get it out of the foil holder at all! I literally had to use two giant soup spoons and try to pry it out as Adrian held on to the sides of it and we tossed it on the plate... literally!! I was kind of upset since I wanted it all intact so the kids could pose in front of it. So Adrian put one of the wings back as best as he could on the side that looked the best. The ugly side had a missing wing and the leg was falling off too! It was a disaster!

There was so much running around to do to get everything ready and the table set. Luckily for me, Mia was taking a nap and so was Alex so it gave me some time kid free. However, just as I was about to finish and get Mia up, Alex woke up. I knew he would be hungry so there would only be a short amount of time to take his picture in front of the turkey before he would get cranky so we quickly ran him to the table. I held him as Adrian took pictures, but Alex wanted no part of it and was grumpy the whole time. Soon he was screaming and we had to put the camera away. I then fed him while Adrian got Mia up. After Alex was fed it was Mia's turn for pictures.

To my surprise she actually did EXTREMELY well and I was able to get some really cute pictures. She didn't smile though but thats ok Mia NEVER smiles for pictures. Poor Alex was screaming again during this time. I wanted to get one family picture so I grabbed Alex and tried to sooth him as fast as I could. I had the camera on the tripod and I put the self timer on and ran Alex over in my arms and posed as fast as I could. I did manage to get a couple of family pictures so that was good.

Finally it was time to eat. We set Mia up at her little feeding chair and she got all the fixings and some juice. We said our special thanks (even Mia said "Thank you") and we chowed down. I didn't think she would eat any of her food (though she did like my Turkey and stuffing last year) but she actually did! She even tried some mashed potatoes which she never likes! In the end she only ate the stuffing and turkey but she did try the potatoes and corn and for that I am proud of her.

Alex on the other hand was crying hysterically. I didn't want to lay him down alone in the other room and I knew he would just scream all through dinner so I decided to pick him up and hold him while I ate. He didn't mind that one bit. Once in my arms he quieted down and didn't make a peep during dinner. In a way I am glad it worked out that way because he was apart of our Thanksgiving Dinner though he couldn't eat anything. All four of us were at the table and I was so happy even though it wasn't easy balancing him with one hand and trying to feed myself with the other... Turkey ended up flying all over the place.
After I was done eating, I fed Alex again then zoomed off to Target to buy Mia some dress shoes for tomorrow. Her and Daddy are going to San Diego to see her Cardoso family. Alex and I will be staying home and resting. He is a bit to little to travel that far and so I don't want to take him out.

Overall our thanksgiving was WONDERFUL! I can't believe how fast our little family is growing. I remember making Thanksgiving dinners for just Adrian and myself and now we have two little ones at the table. I love my little family and am so thankful for each and everyone of of them..

Happy Thanksgiving!

*VIDEO* Mia and Alex on the Couch 11-24-10

I thought this was too funny NOT to record. Mia was trying so hard to color on the couch where Alex was laying. Every now and then, Alex would move and his foot would cover Mia's paper and she would get all concerned and upset. Finally Mia just told me pick up the baby to get rid of him haha

Poopie Problem

Current Mood: Concerned

Its crazy how such a good happy thing can turn and change into a scary crisis! I am talking about Mia and pooping. I know lovely subject, but there is something going on that is concerning me.. ALOT!

Like I mentioned before, I am not truly trying to potty train Mia. Infact I wanted to wait until we moved and settled into our new place before I started, but Mia had other plans. Ever since she pooped in the potty for the first time last week, going #2 hasn't been the same for her and now its become an issue.

The first day she went in the potty it kind of scared her but I turned it around fast enough to make it a good thing. She seemed to respond to the positive reinforcement. She did however go poopies in her diaper later that day but it was no big deal to either of us. Then she didn't go the following day but the next day after that she went in the potty again... well sort of it landed on the floor. That scared her too but again I turned it around into a good thing and she was happy again. Then she didn't go the day after that and yesterday we had a crisis!

I was preparing our Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen and Mia had just come home from eating out with Adrian. She had not gone poopies ALL day and this would mark her 2nd day! (She is pretty regular so this was already a bad thing). Then all of a sudden she said poopies! and started to grab herself. I asked if she wanted to get changed and she said "Change" so I grabbed a diaper and went to change her. When I opened her diaper I noticed there were no poopies. She seemed distracted so I just put the diaper back on. She noticed right away and got mad, so I took it off again and just as I was about to pull it out I noticed she was "about the go" or at least was trying to, so I quickly put the diaper back on so she wouldn't go on the floor. This upset her a bit but soon she got up and went to play. I kept asking if she needed to go poopies and she started to say "no" but I knew she did. I asked about the potty and she refused. So I went back to cooking. Soon she ran up to me complaining about poopies again. I asked her if she wanted to go to the potty and she said yes. So we went to the potty but as soon as she walked in the door she ran back out saying NO!!! This battle literally went on for more than an hour. Going back and forth between wanting to go potty, getting there then refusing and running out. The closest I got to her to go was almost picking her up to place her on the potty then she would freak out and run out of the bathroom. She kept complaining about "poopies" but refused to go in her diaper either. So I was in a dilemma. Nothing encouraged her to go, not even candy! I didn't know what to do. Soon she became so unreasonable and fussy that Adrian had to take her upstairs to bed.

So now I don't know what to do. I am not trying to force her to use the potty yet she keeps asking about it. I am afraid she will make herself constipated and then we will be in real trouble. She hasn't gone poopie in her diaper since the first day she went in the potty. I am concerned she will be traumatized by pooping altogether. I hope things get better, we will see how today goes. Its our Thanksgiving day so hopefully with all the food it will trigger "something" and she will go one way or another... wish me luck!

********** UPDATE********

She pooped this morning! YAY! and yes it was in her diaper and it wasn't pretty! haha I am glad shes ok though...phew

Dinner with Dada

Current Mood: Tired

Today was a special day for Mia and Dada, they went out to eat together at a restaurant for the first time, just the two of them.

Today was a busy day for me. Since we are having our own little Early Thanksgiving tomorrow I had to prepare alot of things.. including the Turkey. So Adrian took Mia out with him to run some errands so she could get some fresh air and stay out of my hair! haha and yes she still insisted on wearing her Tu-Tu out with her as well!

So they hit the post office, a local bakery to pick up some rolls for tomorrow, and then stopped by Rosa's Cafe for some food. Adrian said she did really well, ate tons of rice, some chips and a little of her "Tee tee and cheese" aka quesadilla. She saw some kids running around and really wanted to join them too!! but Adrian wouldn't let her get down haha.

When she came home she couldn't wait to tell me about their little adventure at Rosa's Cafe and I loved hearing her talk about it in her own little way.
