Yet Another Fun visit with Grandpa!

Current Mood: Thankful

That’s right, Grandpa is in town! I really should change the song “Santa Clause is coming to town” and replace the words Santa Clause with Grandpa! Every time Mia hears that “Grandpa is coming” she gets ALL excited and goes NUTS when he arrives. This visit was no exception.

This past week was a big week for me. It was the first time Adrian would be driving into work and I would be left alone with the kids at night. I was a bit nervous about this (with good reason) and when I found out that Adrian needed to go to San Diego early Friday morning to take an exam I called in for help. My Dad came to my rescue!

He drove in mid afternoon on Thursday. Mia was down for a nap when he arrived but Alex wasn’t. He woke up right away and so Grandpa got to see him for awhile. After eating some AWESOME hamburgers Grandpa brought from Burger City, Mia woke up. I was just about to get her up myself but my Dad offered to get her for me. He wanted to surprise her and BOY did she get surprised! He said when he walked in her room she was already awake and playing in her crib. He slowly opened the door and once she caught site of him she went NUTS! She said “GRANDPA!!!” and couldn’t jump out of her crib fast enough! She ran up to him and gave him a big hug! What a great start to a GREAT visit.

The rest of the day was spent, running around and playing like crazy! The next day was another fun day for the two of them. They watched TV, shows, played, chased each other and had lots of fun. Later that night, Grandpa came back from the store with a “Prize” for Mia, two little blue plastic high heals with a bow on them. He knew how much she LOVES to wear shoes and couldn’t resist buying her a pair. Mia fell in LOVE with her shoes and wasted no time in putting them on and clinking around the house. She looked so Adorable!

On Saturday, Grandpa took Mia out ALL day! They went to the post office together then Mac Donald’s after that. At Mac Donald’s Mia played in their little playground for 3 hours!! WOW! She went crazy and had so much fun making new friends and playing. She was all pooped out by the time they got home.

Yesterday was another fun morning with the two of them, however, Daddy ended up stealing Mia away for the rest of the day and early evening. That’s ok though, Grandpa got to catch up with Alex a bit while she was gone. They watched a football game together and took a nap together.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and my Dad is leaving today. Noooooo! I know I know! So far he is still here and is currently watching Alex while Mia is still asleep. Not sure exactly what time he will be leaving but I know it will be soon.

Overall the visit has been a blessing. I wish I could describe more cute things that happened but my brain is half asleep. I am currently writing this while waiting at the lab for my 2hr glucose test. I haven’t eaten since 7pm last night at its 8:45 right now so my head is a bit foggy not to mention I am EXHAUSTED on top of all of that.

I am so glad that my Dad can help us so much and so thankful. There would be no way I could get through all of this without him. Hes a AWESOME Daddy and AWESOME Grandpa! I can’t wait for future visits and I know Mia and Alex feel the same… oh and Adrian too haha

TO BE CONTINUED............

Well turns out the lab messed up my test results. Bummer! but a good thing came out of it, my Dad stayed with us TWO extra days! WHOOHOO! For that I would get stabbed with a needle 10000 more times haha

Since the lab messed up my results we weren't sure if I would need to go in again to retest the next day. I tried to get ahold of my doctor but he didn't get back to me by days end. So with me being extra exhausted due to my fasting AND the bad news we heard my Dad decided to stay another day. Mia was especially happy with this and enjoyed another fun evening with Grandpa watching Bugs Bunny, Popeye and other great cartoons.

I laid down for a late evening nap but I could hear them laughing and having a great time together. That made me happy. When I got up, after I rested, I found them both playing horsey on the floor and watching cartoons. Mia was having a ball, I never seen her happier than when she is with Grandpa.

TO BE CONTINUED............AGAIN.........

The following day we got some good news in the morning. My doctor finally got back to me and told me that I would have to retake my glucose fasting test again until Feb! YAY!!! So my Dad, Mia and I all went out to shop and celebrate. We went to Kohl's so I could buy some frames for Mia and Alex's pictures and a gift for my baby niece Sophia who is turning 1 next week. Unfortunately, Mia was not feeling to well. I noticed a runny nose and her eyes were getting really red. She was acting tired as well but I chalked that up to the play time she had with Grandpa that morning. When they play together they play HARD and she always get worn out.

So we cut the shopping time a bit short because I began to worry about Mia. By then she was literally hunched over in the cart. Before we went home, however, we stopped by Target so I could pick up a card and we could get some snacks. Once we got there Mia ate a pretzel and some popcorn and perked right up again. I bought the card I needed and some extra stuff for Mia that I found in the dollar bin (an Elmo book, some Christmas socks, and mittens) I can't help buying stuff for her I have so much fun. After Target we headed home. I was really feeling tired and was all pooped out, so my Dad dropped me off and took Mia with him to Vons for some food. While they were there he said she fell asleep in his arms and he had to carry her all around the store. Even while sleeping she still got tons of compliments from costumers and employees.

She woke up once they got home and we all munched out on some Chicken and other food. Unfortunately, we ate a bit to much so my Dad and I decided to go out for a walk around the neighborhood. Mia wanted to go too, so we loaded her up in her stroller and off we went for our hour long walk. We walked EVERYWHERE and had a good time chatting. Mia was holding her little flashlight in her hand and was having fun shinning it on things (yes it was already dark, but not late). Half way through our walk she knocked out and slept the rest of the time. Once we got back home she perked up again and had some more fun time with Grandpa, playing and watching cartoons. Soon it got late and Grandpa carried her off to bed.

This morning was the last day my Dad would be with us. It was so sad, we hate seeing him leave but we still had lots of fun. I had an early morning doctor's appointment so once Alex was all fed and good I left. Grandpa stayed behind and watched Alex for me and got Mia up and fed her breakfast once she was up. When I got home all three of them were hanging out in the living room. It didn't take long before more fun time started. Mia was playing with Grandpa with her kitty cat while my Dad held Alex in his arm. What surprised me the most is even with Mia screaming and laughing at the top of her lungs while she rolled around the couch she never once woke up her sleeping brother! WOW hes a deep sleeper. I had fun just watching the three of them interact and took lots of pictures and videos.

They played some more and watched YouTube videos together for awhile before Mia's nap time. Once she got tired it was off to bed she went. Alex was already sleeping in his little pack and play. He was all tuckered out because we made him show off his new outfit Grandpa bought him from Kohl's the day before (A cute little Christmas outfit), and took TONS of pitures. Once Mia was in bed it was time for Grandpa to go. Noooooo!!!! It was so sad to see him leave, but like I always say I know he will come again for another visit soon.

Once Mia woke up she automatically went looking for her Grandpa. She doesn't quite understand that he is gone, I think she thinks hes at the store or something. The saddest thing is when she will go around the house looking for him and calling him... that hasn't happened yet but I know by tomorrow morning it will.

Well the visit was AWESOME! we got TWO extra bonus days so that was blessing! We all had so much fun and can't wait for future visits. Until then its off for more Mama duties....

Mia and Grandpa having fun. Alex was there too and slept through the whole thing, even though Mia's screaming and laughing!

Mia: 28 months
