Current mood: blissful
Happy Halloween 2009!!!!! Its that time again! PUMPKIN DAY!!! and Mia was officially finally fully introduced to the Trick-or-Treating tradition, she went door to door for the first time! YAY! Last year, (she was dressed as a cute little bumble bee and was alittle under 4 months old) she only trick-or-treated at the mall, went home, and off to bed she went. This year we felt she was old enough to finally go door to door and after tick-or-treating at the mall we went around our neighborhood. I have lots of cute little stories to share so I might as well jump right into it now.
The day started off kind of gloomy. My surgery pain came back somewhat and I was really bummed. What bummed me out the most was that I wasn't going to be able to hold or carry Mia while she trick-or-treated. Major bummer!!!! So my mood was really affected for most of the morning and early afternoon. Soon it was time to hit the mall and once we got Mia's Tinkerbell costume on (which wasn't an easy task) my mood did a 180!! I was soon smiling again and have a blast. I couldn't wait to get her out to the mall.
We drove down to the mall. The same one we took her too last year to trick-or-treat. We got there pretty early so many kids weren't dressed or trick-or-treating yet, but we didn't care.. Mia was dressed to the nine and it was time to show her off!!!
It didn't take long before Mia started attracting attention. Everyone melted at the sight of her, especially when we let her run around outside of the mall on the grassy area. She was running around with her wings twinkling, wand waving, and shoes ringing (from her tiny bells) It was the most darling site I have ever seen. We were getting compliments left and right from men, women, elderly people, teens and even little kids. Everyone fell in love with "Tink".
It was really warm outside so we decided to head into the mall. Thats where she turned more heads. She trick-or-treated at a few stores but It never failed, whenever she went up (Daddy was holding her or holding her hand and walking with her) to get some candy she would look at the people and just freeze up and not move. She would just stand there and stare. It got so bad that at one store she literally stood motionless, like a statue, for almost a full min. right in front of a guy handing out candy! We all cracked up. She warmed up towards the end though and waved "bye" to people.
We walked a bit more (poor Adrian had to carry her since her wings were so big she didn't fit in her stroller) and finally found a section of the mall that had a long hallway with no store and no people. That is when we put her down and let her run around as much as she wanted to. We tried putting her down to run around in the mall but she just cut people off, ran in front of people, and would stop in the middle of pathway... oh and not to mention she would always tried to run outside when she could! So that little hallway was perfect. She ran up and down, down and up. When people would see her they always commented. We even got compliments from two police officers on duty, who recommended we stopped by their station on the second floor for more candy! Mia was having a blast, she loved to carry her little bucket and throw out all the candy she didn't like on the floor. The only thing she went after were lollipops and suckers. Soon she had two in her mouth at the same time! haha
After a while, it was time to start heading back so we let her walk around a bit more while holding Daddy's hand. Once she broke free and ran full blast (well as fast as her little legs could carry her) into a store blasting some really loud music. As soon as she got in, she started dancing!!!! Thats all she wanted to do. She danced and danced and when we would take her out she would run back in and dance and dance some more. It was too cute!!!
Talk about compliments, we seriously had to have received at least 100 compliments the whole time we were there!!!! Anywhere from, "Shes the cutest Tinkberbell I have seen today", "Look at her eyes!! She looks just like those precious moments dolls" "Look at those wings! they are bigger than she is" "Its Tinkerbell how CUTE" and tons of "oooohs" and "ahhhhhs" Adrian and I were beaming with pride!
After we did all our trick-or-treating at the mall it was time to go home and rest up a bit before we headed around the block. She fell asleep the whole ride home and once we got home we decided to leave her costume on since it was such a hassle to get it off let alone trying to put it on again. Plus it was cute watching her run around all poofy and sparkely. She found the candy we were going to give out and made a huge mess of it. She threw it all over the floor and spread it all around. She had smarties ALL over the place and made it a point to try to chew on each one of them!!! She would munch on one, then throw it and grab another. Soon she had her both of her hands stuffed with them, and had 1-2 of them sticking out of her mouth! She went nuts!!! I then decided to spoiled her a bit and did something I NEVER do, I gave her some candy. Just a few pieces of smarties, I figured it would help give her energy to trick-or-treat. I later went to the room and when I came back Adrian had given her more candy too for the same reason!!! Uh-oh!! Soon she was sugared up and zooming around! haha
We put on Shark Tale for while and waited for the sun to go down. Once it got dark enough we put Mia's Tinkerbell shoes back on, on went the crown and off we went on our next adventure. This was the first time we EVER took Mia out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood so I was ready.. armed with my camera and ready to take 100000 pictures. At first Daddy tried holding her hand and guiding her but that didn't last all she wanted to do was run down the drive way and down the street! We couldn't get her to follow for anything so Daddy had to pick her up and walk her down the street.
We finally came to a participating house. An older couple was handing out candy from their garage. It took Mia forever to finally be guided up their driveway. She was unsure about them, about the house and the kids around her tick-or-treating. Finally Daddy helped her and she held out her pumpkin bucket. They gave her TONS of candy and complimented on how cute she look. She just stood there and stared. She didn't want to leave their garage for anything, she just wanted to stand there and stare. We finally got her to slowly walk away but midway down the drive way she froze up again then tried to go back into their garage! So Daddy had to pick her up. Just then the lady came down the driveway and gave her some extra candy before we left. How nice!
We rounded the block and went to the street next to us. They always go all out every year so we got to trick-or-treated there. It was lots of fun!!!! Though Mia never wanted to walk up the drive ways, once she got to the doors she never wanted to leave!! haha Silly girl. The only time she went up a driveway willingly and by herself was when there was loud scary music blasting out of it. Go figure! haha She did good, she walked up to every house we aimed her at and only fell a couple of times. She fell in the grass once, and fell in some bushes a second time but she never cried. At one house they were trying to get their fog machine to work and they just happened to get it working just as we walked up. They asked if she was afraid of fog but we didn't know ourselves.. so they slowly turned it on. At first she seemed ok with it, she just checked it out but once it started to cover her up she bolted down their pathway towards the street and starting running into their grass area where they had a make shift graveyard. Thats when she fell in the grass one of the times. Again she didn't cry but she didn't like it.
We trick-or-treated at a few more houses till we started to get tired. Adrian's back was killing him from carrying her all day and Mia threw her plastic pumpkin on the ground and broke the handle off of it. That was the worst part since she wouldn't be able to hold it again. She never liked us holding her pumpkin and cried whenever we tried to take it away from her. She wanted to be next to her candy and pumpkin at all times! So once it broke we knew it was time to head back home. Speaking of pumpkin bucket, no matter how dark it was or how much candy was inside, she always managed to fish out the lollipops and eat through the wrapers! She would always make a huge sticky mess so we had to take them away from her which always made her upset. She wanted nothing to do with her wand and whenever I gave it to her she would throw it right on the ground... ah well! lol
Once we got home we set up the candy bucket to give out candy. Mia was still running around in her full costume. When kids came to our door she stood in the doorway and watched us give the kids candy. At one point she got outside and ran down the walkway and into the grass. Daddy had to go chasing her. Later (I wish I saw this myself) Adrian said that when he was giving out candy Mia helped him by putting 1 piece of candy into each little kids buckets, one at a time. PRICELESS!!! I was upstairs getting her jammies ready and missed it!! NOOOOO!!! Ah well...
Soon she was back into the candy and munching on the smartie wrappers. I didn't think she could get through them but she found a way! Once she learned how she was eating TONS Of them and I had to keep taking them away from her! She was out of control!!! haha
Oh on a side note, which is also sorta of funny, since my arms are still very sore I wasn't able to carve out my own pumpkin this year but I was able to at least carve out Mia's. Her tiny pumpkin was sitting out on the porch all lonely. Thats when Adrian stepped in and helped carve out my pumpkin for me! I was so happy! I soon had both of them sitting outside next to each other, Mama and baby pumpkin. It was cute! The only bad thing was, when I cleaned out the pumpkins I wasn't able to get all the stringy stuff out completely due to my injuries.. so once we lighted up the pumpkins it started to smell... and BAD!!!! YUCK!!!! I didn't notice it right away but the kids did! Once when Adrian was giving out candy he over heard one kid say... "P-U it smells like Brocolli!" another kid said "It smells like Sushi!" haha When Adrian told me this I quickly went outside and YUCK! It DID smell!!! but Halloween was almost over so I just left them out there.
Soon we ran out of candy and it was time to turn off the lights and bring in the pumpkins. I fed Mia some dinner and off to bed she went. It was a great Halloween, one of the best ever! I had so much fun with my little pumpkin! I couldn't ask for anything better. I just wish it was more than just one day... I can't wait till next year I am already getting some ideas for Mia's costume.. I think she will be what she loves the most... haha no not Elmo... a kitty!!!! Ya a furry little kitty! I can't wait... till then
