Current mood: tired
Thats right! Mia is officially 15 months old today! I still can't believe it myself, it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating her 1 year birthday and here we are.. inching ever so closer to the big 2! YIKES!!!
This month has been great, though it still had its ups and downs it was much better mentally for me that last month since we lost our baby last month. Mia of course was still being the cute little travisita she always is all month long and it was great.
We went shopping a ton and I mean a TON this month. We even went on a couple of shopping sprees! Mia is all stocked up with warm winter jammies as well as some new winter clothes. Of course we didn't just buy clothes for her she did get some new toys as well. She got a new tiny stuffed animal Elmo that she just adores, her first barbie, legos and all kinds of fun stuff. Adrian and I both love going shopping with her, and even if we don't end up buying anything we never come home empty handed because we always come back with tons of memories and new experiences. One of the new ones is we are slowly letting her run around outside of her stroller in the mall and in stores. We are trying to get her used to holding our hands, which she does, but she always manages to find a way to escape our grip and run off haha. She is a handful in stores now, especially if you let her loose. She runs non stop up and down the isles and just has a blast. Forget about trying to get her back in her stroller!
Well its October now and you know what that means, Halloween is just around the corner. We already bought Mia her outfit. She is going to be Tinkerbell this year. We got her light up wings to go with her darling little outfit and a wand. I can't wait till pumpkin day so I can dress her up in it.
She still does good in restaurants but she is beginning to become more and more rowdy. She doesn't cry or fuss or make a scene yet but she does like to talk loud, yell and laugh. Its really cute but not so cute when we eat a quiet place. Thats why we always make sure we take her to a place that is nice and crowded and noisey so she can fit right in.
We went down to Sunny San Diego a couple of times. The first time to see her Grandma on her birthday at her Great Grandma's house. It was great seeing the family again and while we were there she got to see her very first Ferret. She loved her and thought she was a kitty! haha She also loved exploring her backyard and of course picking up leaves. The second time we went down was for Adrian's cousin Carina's engagemnt party. She had a blast there and danced up a storm. She would shake her hips back and forth and was a dancing machine the whole time. She loves music.
It is officially fall and with that the temp. outside is finally becoming manageable enough to go outside and play. With that, we have finally been able to take Mia to the park more often. Granted I take her more, Daddy did come with us once. He really got to see how obessed she is about picking up leaves and carrying as many as her tiny hands can hold. He took her to the jungle gym and even went down the slide with her. Mia isn't a big fan of slides or jungle gyms so we didn't do that for too long. She loves the park and I really think its because of her freedom to be able to run around as much as she can. I can't wait to take her more, hopefully it won't get to cold too soon.
Amongst finding things, Mia did find her nose!!! haha Now when you ask her, "Wheres your nose" she will point to it and its really cute. The not so cute thing is she also picks it afterwards!! EWWWW!!!
I finally took off her baby bumper out of her crib. I still had it in there because she is such a wild sleeper and didn't want her hitting her head against the bars. She seemed to adjust to it being gone at first but after a couple of days she started having really bad nights. We couldn't understand why. She would wake up crying off and on all night and some night she would become awake completely in the middle of the night. It got so bad that Adrian had to get her up almost every night. We couldn't put our finger on why the change in sleeping pattern, then I realized... hmmm maybe its because of the missing bumper. So I put her bumper back on and sure enough she has been sleeping great again. No more waking up in the middle of the night and shes rarely cries in her sleep as much. I guess she was hitting her head alot at night and waking herself up. Poor baby.
We got to celebrate a couple of big anniversaries with Mia this month. Our 11 years anniversary of being together and our 2 year wedding anniversary. Both days were great and Mia made them extra special... we love that little girl so much.
She jibber jabbers a TON but just recently I realized there is more to the jibber jabber than meets the ear. Some of her baby jibberish is her way of saying words! I picked up her trying to say "Gabba" (aaa-ba), "ball" (bb-a) and Kitty (kk..te). She also says "No" (nn-a) So now I really pay attention to her jibberish more. Though she still refuses to say her old favorite word "Hat" she does say Mama and Dada when you ask her.
She is also coming more into her toddler, by which I mean she is starting to learn how to throw a tantrum and do things for attention. Though she doesn't throw tantrums very often, when she does its actually kind of funny...(for now). She gets really stiff, puts one arm straight out, leans her head on her arm, turns beat red (makes no sound), and starts walking backwards in circle until she falls down. Sigh little Mia. She has also started gagging herself by putting her fingers down her throat. I know this is just for attention because as soon as I start ignoring her she stops doing it. When I try to stop her she does it even more. Sigh... welcome to Toddlerhood I guess.
She also got to go to her little friend Abby's first birthday in San Diego. That party was so much fun and so geared for little ones like Mia. Not only was it held at a park that had a huge playground but they had multiple pinatas! She had lots of fun at the party, eating candy, cake , icecream and great food. She ate so much that she threw up! YUCK!! Luckily it didn't get on us. We took her to the playground but she doesn't like slides and the swings were taken up. We did find a bouncey horse that she just loved and had a good time with that. It was great getting the girls together again and watching them play nicely with each other. We definately have to get them together more often.
Only once did this happen but the story is too cute to not include in her monthly review. One day Mia tried to actually tickle Adrian. Not only did she reach out to him and tried to tickle his neck but she tried to say "tickle tickle tickle" too!!! I wish I could have seen that, it sounds priceless!
Mia grew another molar this month, which brings the total teeth count up to 9!!! What made this one more special than the other more recent ones is she finally grew one on the bottom! Since her very first two teeth (lower middle) she has not grown any more down there. So it was nice to see another pop out on the bottom.
Feeding became a big battle this month and it was no fun. Out of no where she started becoming EXTREMELY picky and always throwing her food on the ground. It became very tiring and frusterating for me. Thats when Adrian suggested maybe spacing out her meals a bit further apart to make her alittle more hungry. Sure enough as soon as I did that, we no longer have problems at the dinner table. YAY!
She also has a new favorite show. Elmo's World. Daddy downloaded a few episode of it and she just gets so hooked on it. She won't move and will sit there the whole hour to watch it. This is nice since I now can finally get some stuff done around the house while shes mesmorized. I don't put Elmo on often but when I need to do some stuff I am glad to know hes there haha. She still likes Gabba but I think she is getting tired of the same ol' episodes since sometimes you can tell she gets bored.
Mia never ceases to shock us, and this month was no exception either. One day I let her run around and I wasn't keeping track on her as close as I normally do (I was preparing her lunch) and when Daddy woke up and went to use the restroom he found a dirty diaper floating in the bowl.. EWWW!!! Silly Mia, she knows pee pees go in the toilet she just doesn't know that diaper don't! haha
We rarely ever let Mia have candy and if she does its on a very special occasion like a birthday party or after getting her shots. However Daddy got ahold of some pop rocks and wanted to see Mia's reaction to them. I had the camera ready and he gave her some. To our surprise she liked them!! She chewed it with her mouth open so she could hear all the crackling and popping. She kept going back to Daddy for more, it was too cute!
When Mia started getting picky with her food she really started refusing to eat pancakes anymore. It wasn't until I got the idea of mixing frozen blueberries (her favorite) in the batter before cooking them up. Once they became "blueberry" pancakes she started scarfing them down. Now she becomes a big blue mess after eating them but I am just happy shes eating so I don't mind the mess haha
We went to a couple of Doctor's appointments this month. One for a miscarriage check up and one for my pre-op. The first one she didn't do to good since we forgot to bring her toys with us so she got bored real fast and quickly became a handful. The second time around we were better prepared, armed with her toy elmo her pumpkin light and the laptop with her Elmo show on it she was a perfect angel. I think she is going to ask Santa for a portable DVD player for Christmas haha
She also went to her very first wedding in Oxnard. She did great at the ceremony, didn't make a fuss or cry and was good. Of course all thanks to Daddy how kept her pretty entertained the whole time... which wasn't easy. The reception was fun too, she danced alittle but had more fun running up and down the hall ways outside haha. It was also fun too see the Pizano family again... always a big treat.
Well thats about it for the month, I need to get going since I hear that she woke up from her nap and its time for me to get my little munchkin up and fed. Overall the month was been great. I can't wait to see what this up coming month has in store for us. Especially today when we get to take her to the pumpkin patch YAY! I am also looking forward to Halloween, I can't wait to take my little Tinkerbell out trick or treating! =)

Goals met from last month?
She did meet some of her goals set for this month. She does say some words on command but again its only when SHE is in the mood to. Its more often Dada than anything else but she does still say Mama and of course Kitty when Mew Mew is around. She even tried to say "Meow" once it was really cute. She still doesn't say hat anymore which is sad. She is running alot better and really picking up speed now haha and yes we have started going to the park ALOT more often now. I love taking her there.
Goals for next month:
Say words on command again, dance more on command and with that means shaking her hips, say new words
