Current mood: tired
Mia went to her very first wedding this weekend (yesterday). My cousin Gina married her long time... and I mean LONG time boyfriend, Johnny. The wedding was held up in Ventura County so you know what that means.... ROADTRIP!!!! haha
The wedding was going to be in Camarillo at 1 so we had to leave our house extra early to make sure we made it there on time. Especially since we can no longer make a non-stop trip anymore with Mia. We always have to pull off at least mid-way to give her a chance to get out of the cramped car seat, run around a bit and get some fresh air. Yesterday was no exception. She did well till about Pasadena, thats when she just blew up. It didn't help we got stuck in some traffic which delayed a TON of stuff. So we found a place to pull off (which wasn't easy since niether Adrian or I was familiar with the area) eventually we found a Cheveron and got off. Mia was so happy to get out of the car. I put on her sandals and let her walk around a bit and play in the grass. Daddy bought some treats for us too. One of them being some fig newtons. To my surprise Mia LOVED the fig newtons and ate three of them!!! She made a huge mess but it was ok, she wasn't wearing what I had planned on dressing her in for the wedding. So after a good 15 min break it was back on the road we went.
The wedding was to start at 1 and we pulled into the parking lot at exactly 10 mins to 1! ACK!!!! I jumped out of the car, got Mia's dress and stuff ready as Adrian quickly got her out of her car seat. In the parking lot I stripped her down in a flash and quickly dressed her in her dress, tights, dress shoes, and did her hair. I felt like the tasmanian devil doing the whirlwind thing. After she was all set, Adrian and I quickly finished getting ready ie. putting on our dress shoes and fixing my hair. Then we ran off to the church. Everyone was just showing up and thats when we found out that 1 o'clock was the gathering time and that the wedding wouldn't be starting till about 30 mins later. PHEW!!!!! So that gave us time to visit some family again. It was awesome to see everyone again and show off Mia. She got to meet her Great Uncle Fred for the first time and he just fell in love with her. Soon Grandpa and Grandma Pizano showed up and of course they had to smother Mia with hugs and kisses. She got to see her Cousins Tracy, Sarah and Baby April too! and of course her Nino and Nina and soon to be cousin in her Nina's tummy. It was great to see everyone again. Then it was time to be seated.
As much as I really wanted to sit with my family, especially since they got front seats, both Adrian and I knew that Mia was too much of a wild card to sit there with them. We weren't sure if she would be ok sitting there throughout the ceremony or if she would get rowdy. More than anything we didn't want to steal any attention from my Cousin and her soon to be husband so we decided to sit in the very back just incase we had to make a hurried exit. What really made us concern was the fact Mia had been sitting in the car for 3 hours, held when we got there and now we expect her to sit quietly throughout a wedding? I think not! haha So we sat there while more people trickled in. We noticed some of the little ones already sounding off and we hoped Mia wouldn't get any funny ideas. Adrian and I sat about 2-3 seats apart so she let Mia walk back and forth between us. She had some fun until she realized we wouldn't let her go past us, then she got alittle mad. Luckily she was more interested in checking everyone and everything out around her. Then the ceremony started. She sat nicely on Daddy's lap but would still get figetity at times. We gave her, her blankey and she held it but still was very antsy. She pulled off her ribbon bows in her hair, ate a hold in the program, Daddy gave her his credit cards out of his wallet to play with and she threw them, she bashed both of us hard with her tiny stuffed Elmo doll, and squirmed but she NEVER fussed or cried. What a good girl. I will take the Elmo beatings and squirming any time over screaming and crying. The ceremony was beautiful and my cousin looked stunning in her dress. The whole wedding brought back so many memories of our own wedding and it was so nice to be there to share their special moment with them.
After the ceremony we all gathered outside of the church. Thats when we let Mia loose while different family members watched her. Eventually it started to get late and we wanted to rest a bit at my parent's house before the reception started (we had a good few hours to kill). Plus her Daddy really wanted to hit Fry's to buy some computer part. So on our way to my parents house we stopped by there real fast. Mia did good she ate her snackies and just was her fun self. After Fry's we went to my parents house where my Grandpa and Uncle were as well.
We had a great visit and they all got to see Mia be herself. She walked and ran around the house, got into EVERYTHING, jibber jabbered like crazy, got into their DVDs, opened all their kitchen cabinets and ate her lunch (her favorite.... grilled cheese). She had a taste of her first soda!!! Against our will of course haha She walked into the livingroom where her Great Grandpa had his soda and she picked up his drink and started chugging it! Her Grandpa ran over to stop her but he said the closer he got to her she just drank fast (he could see it up the straw) we took it away but it was still very funny. She also demanded to be let into the kitchen and no matter how much Grandpa tired to block her out with his arm she got lower and lower to the ground to go under his arm to get to where she wanted to go. Haha silly girl. After we all rested up a bit it was off to the reception we went.
The reception was in Oxnard itself so it didn't take long to get there from my parents house. We got their alittle late so it had already started. We sat down and were served some very good food. Even Mia ate some of it, like the mashed potatoes and the steamed brocholli. The wedding party made their speeches and when everyone clapped so did Mia. Eventually the party really got started and Mia was set loose again. She danced with her Daddy and Grandpa on the dance floor at different times, ran around and later her Daddy took her out into the outside hallway area. She went completely NUTS in there. So much room to run around and boy did she. She ran up and down the hall just screaming her little heart out in pure fun and happiness. We both chased her around and played with her. Especially her Dada who kept throwing her up in the air and making her run around. We hall had a great time together. Eventually all of us began to poop out and it was time to head back home. We found a nice secluded place to change Mia's diaper and put her in her jammines. We all said our sad goodbyes and loaded up the car. Thats when I realized I lost my camera!!! OH NO!!!
Pure panic set in when I realized it was gone, I quickly ran back into the reception hall to look for it and after about 10 mins I finally found it. Some good samaritan turned into the front desk. I was so realized... all my pictures from the wedding and all of Mia were saved. HOORAY! We got to leave the wedding on a good note and I was happy.
Mia knocked out in the parking lot as I was looking for my camera inside and she didn't wake up again until about 45 mins from home in Norco. She started crying in her sleep then woke herself up from it so we had to pull off at a nearby Jack In the Box. It was a little before midnight so we were the last customers in the dinning area. I changed Mia's diaper and Daddy order her a grilled cheese to snack on (she didn't have much dinner earlier) so she ate and felt much better. She was all smiles and happy again once we hit the road. She didn't fall back to sleep but she was good in her car seat.
Then we made it home and I quickly put her to bed and I soon followed suit afterwards. Wow what a great day and boy what a tiring day. Poor Adrian he did all the driving, close to 400 miles!!! So needless to say we were all bushed, but we wouldn't miss the wedding for the world. It was so awesome, and we all had a great time.
