Current mood: adventurous
Happy Friday! Yep Mia 67 weeks today. The more I write these weekly blogs the older she seems to get. I think its because I still use the "weeks" format... she doesn't seem as old when I say shes only 15 months old. Can you tell I don't want my little one to grow up too fast haha
This week has definately had its challenges and I am not referring to Mia for once. Since my surgery my recovery has been moving along slower than a sick snail. I had high hopes I'd be totally back on my feet at least by now, but unfortunately roadblocks keep popping up. Now my surgery site is feeling somewhat better and less painful (still not able to pick up Mia and its almost been 2 weeks!!! talk about torture!) but the adhesive they used to keep my dressing on has not only ripped off a layer of skin but it has now developed into one of the worst rashes I have ever experienced other than when I had chicken pox when I was 5!!! Its pretty nasty and I have had to go to the doctor a couple of times now. I am now on hydrocortison AND anti-biotics. I can't sleep cuz its hurting to bad and its just making me miserable.. I hope things will get better by next week.
So with that little update you can now understand my desperate need for my Dad's help. He stayed all of last week, went home Sunday afternoon and came back Monday afternoon and has been here ever since. He is an angel! and has helped me through this along with Adrian. I don't know what I would do without them. Unfortunately due to staffing issues at Adrian's job at the moment he has had to drive into work more frequently than usual which makes things a bit harder but thanks to my Dad being here to help with Mia it isn't so bad. So now onto more fun stuff to talk about... MIA!!!
She is definately being treated like a little princess and being spoiled rotten by her Grandpa. She is having a ball and is definately keeping him on his toes and I am not just talking about diaper duty either! haha They are constantly chasing each other around and having fun. I have never seen her so excited as when he does her "morning excerise" and bounces her on the bed. She screams and laughs so hard. Its the cutest thing. He is also getting better with her meals, she doesn't fight him as much as long as Elmo is on (her favorite show) if any other program is on she starts getting mad, making her famous crinkle face, and pulls her hair. So needless to say my poor Dad has been tortured with never ending Sesame Street and Elmo's World... haha welcome to my world Dad! haha
We have been to Target a few times this week as well and that always means adventure time!! But she has done very well and never really makes a scene. Since my surgery I obviously can't pick up Mia right now so that means I can't give her a bath! Poor stinky baby! So thats when it was Adrian to the rescue! He had his very first solo bath flight this week and to my surprise it went extremely well!! She didn't even cry with him when he washed her hair! Now why doesn't she do that with me!! GRRR! haha When my Dad went home for that one day, Adrian took Mia out on a errand shopping run to let me rest alone at home. It was definately weird to be in this house completely alone again... something that hasn't happened in a very long time. I did get some rest but I missed my baby and Adrian and couldn't wait for them to come back home so I could hear all about their adventure together. They had fun, he took her to the post office, then Best Buy and finally WinCo. He let her loose in Best Buy and she had a blast running up and down the isle screaming and playing, touching every TV she could get her tiny hands on and trying to rip down sales tags! haha She really gave him a run for his money at WinCo, she even tried to rip the gaming magazine he was attempting to read because she was bored in the basket and wanted to go home! Mia sure lets you know what she wants and isn't shy about expressing herself. Overall their little adventure sounded fun and I am glad they got some much needed Daddy Daughter time.
Mia also sprouted a new molar this week. Another one on the bottom opposite her first one on the bottom left. I am always happy to see her grow new chompers, it shows me she is ready for new food YAY! Daddy's Carne Asada is almost in her grasp! haha Anyways her grand total of teeth is now up to 10! WOW! She has done so very well with teething, I truly feel blessed. I have heard all the numerous horror stories about people's teething kids and I am thankful Mia has never been one of them. Though she can get alittle cranky during the worst of it, she never gets fevers, she never cries alot and you can only really tell shes teething because she puts her fingers in her mouth more than usual and drools alot.
Spoke too soon.... She just woke up screaming and crying her little head off. What broke my heart the most was she was desperately trying to get me to pick her up and I still can't. I wanted to more than anything but I still can't lift her and I didn't want to set back all the healing progress I did so I just reached down and held her as best as I could as she stood there. She kept trying to rest her head on me and I finally was able to calm her down. After she was ok I ran downstairs woke up my Dad and now hes with her and is about to make her some breakfast. I can't wait till I can finally hold my little one again... this is pure torture!!!
So now I have to quickly finish this up. She said another new word this week, Grandpa!! Yep, and boy did it melt her Grandpa's heart. She says it so cute too, "aaammm...pa" They also started a new game together, whenever someone says "giggle giggle giggle" she repeats it and then doesn't stop! She even said it so she could weasle out of some trouble (she was trying to get in the trash and Grandpa was trying to stop her) that little rascale Mia! haha
She had two big trips to the park this week. Once with her Grandpa by themsevles (which she came home with her first ice cream pop from the ice cream man) and once with her Daddy by herself while her Grandpa and I were in Urgent Care for my rash. Both times she had a blast running around, collecting leaves and trying to interact with the kids at the park.
With Adrian and my Dad's help I was finally able to decorate the house with my Halloween decorations and boy does Mia love them. Especially my light up ghost and soft pumpkin. My Dad bought me a halloween snoopy that when you push on his foot he plays the snoopy song and dances. What started as mine, Mia quickly took it over. Once she figured out how to push his foot to make him sing and dance she is ALWAYS pushing that foot. I must have heard that Peanut song a million times now but she likes it. She will turn it on walk away, sometimes dance and when it turns off she will walk back to it and turn it back on and walk away. I think she just likes the song haha.
Overall the week has been fun, well except for the surgery aftermath but its still fun to see Mia with her Daddy and Grandpa that always brings joy to my heart. I just can't wait to heal up so I can jump back in there. Hopefully by my weekly blog next week I will be able to hold her again... I hope!
